Your trunk needs to be filled with two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine and a whole galaxy of multicolored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers...Also a quart of tequilla, a quart of rum, a case of budweiser, a pint of raw ether, and two dozen amyls.
I'm not a big fan of American cars, but there's something about the Eldorado that I seriously admire. It's the epitome of America. Big, powerful, and excessive (in a good way).
I saw one man in front my DTS in this same Eldorado @ the Mcdonalds. I got out and was sooo hype. His car was in PERFECT condition. It looked brand new! I was like id drive that over my DTS and we both had a chuckle. ppl looked @ me from the McDonalds like I was crazy. I didnt care. I rarely see this car in the condition he had it in.
@saabkyle04@gajda1984 CORRECTION REQUIRED the 500 cu in V8 in this car has 400hp and 550 ftlbs of torque, the 425 cu in replaced it in 77-78 and had 180 hp because of fuel and emissions standards.
@form109 In the very early 70s. Sometime around 71 or 72, horsepower ratings changed due to the switch from gross HP to SAE net HP. That brought stated horsepower ratings down by a huge margin, yet performance remained the same until smog controls were instituted.
@arfi1990 Only in 1970 did that engine have 400 horse. Everything started dropping off in 1971 for GM powerwise. By 1976 they were down to 190 with a carb and a little more if fuel injection was optioned.
Why were these so symbolized? It's very ugly, even in mint condition, and It's FWD! On the other hand the 59 Eldorado was gorgeous, Who would think that 16 years after one of the most beautiful cars were made that this would have been the outcome? But leave it to General Motors to mess with a beautiful thing.
@hottdylan1993 To each his own pal. Contrary to your asinine OPINION, I happen to think,( along with a
torrent of others ) that the 76 Eldo was perhaps THE quintesintial, peak of the pyrimid in AMERICAN Luxury & Styling. EVERYTHING about this vehicle screamed AMERICAN & PROUD of it. YOU are probably one of those Morons that still believe that Chev. should have stopped re-styling cars after 57. Things CHANGE Pal. It is both the Nature of engineering and even nature itself. Grow-up.
@ancientastronomer Uhh don't tell me to grow up, but you are right about the opinion part, but I still don't think this is anything to be proud of, seriously FWD? 500 cu in engine with 180 horsepower? i just don't get it. Yes I am very proud to be an American but not so much of this. And who said anything about not restyling? I just said this was a poor design, if I thought what you stated I wouldn't have newer GM products in my garage.
OMG, The 8L FWD goodness in all it's glory. I would like to own this car just to have a hilarious cruiser. Of course, with current gas prices i wouldn't come very far. :))) How many mpgs do you get? 8?
How can a car with such a big engine produce so little power??? i have a 2.0 litre with 180bhp standard, the engine is on a leash!! wots with these american cars so dissapointing.
@rutter1ify technology has changed....end of story... and also this car was built during a period where more strict emissions laws where being put in place so it effected the power output of nearly every car on the market.
What a masterpiece, I just love the looks of American cars, the Brougham sedan and 59 Eldorado seville are my favourite Cadis, unfortunetley here in Britain you never see these beauts.

Great find kyle brings back alot of memories my father has one back in 70's was totaled in a accident in may of 1980 seen pics of that car was good looking car
Cool car, but I'd swap the engine first thing if it were mine. Only 180hp from 8.2 liters? That's only 21 horsepower per liter. Absolutely pathetic. 359 lb-ft isn't too impressive from that massive displacement either. :\
Kyle, this is America's treasure and has to be preserved by enthusiast like you. I still remember the start up growl. Pretty girl friend, I assume she supports you in your hobby.
So what do you say, put on the headlights, cut on the headlights? It is probably put on but it doesn't sound right lol, I always wonder what you're saying.

@09204418448 You need a good slap in the face that's the fact, Junior. besides your litle insults you see on MTV, what do you know? You said you knew the things you were talking about, what were they besides whining like a little schoolyard sissy.
@09204418448 You know what Junior? You are right. Arguing with a little 14 year old runt online is stupid. Without bitchslapping access it's worthless. See ya!
@09204418448 You really need to stop cursing. Youtube isn't the place for it, especially inside the comments of a person's video. You claim to be 14 years old; however, you fail to act like it. The user gajda1984 called you junior because you are showing your immaturity and ignorance of boundaries. You claim he looks immature fighting with you, but 90% of your words are profanity. If you want to look mature and that you know what you talk about, learn better vocabulary instead of the profanity.
@09204418448 according to the comment history, you were the first to curse. all he called you was Junior. As soon as he did that, you went nuts. Haven't your parents taught you the saying: "If you have nothing nice to say, then don't say it at all."? Sure gajda1984 didn't need to say some of the things that he said, but when somebody says something rude or mean to you, especially online, take that opportunity to show superiority by not replying to them. Then you will be the bigger man.
@09204418448 If you take all the smog shit off that 500CUBIC it would be pushing 400 + HP and 500 + Torques. Now that cvic is lucky if it will ever see those number's in it's day. And that V8 would put that out without any tunning. The Cvic would have to have Nos, Chip and ect. That Cvic is no match for this V8.
Lol this doesn't need all the bells and whistles, back when cars were real cars haha. Today they just try to stuff all kinds of electronics in there and call it a "luxury car."
Take off all the smog crap including the cats, give it a true dual exhaust and an open element air cleaner you could probabaly up the hp by 50. Those engines were choked so bad by emission controls
Kyle - again, congratulations on a superb video! Here's some fun facts about the Eldorado: 1976 was the final year that buyers could get an Eldo convertible because GM called it "The Last American Convertible." People scooped them, sometimes at thousands over MSRP, only to discover that it wasn't meant to be. GM brought back the Eldo ragtop for 1984, causing the buyers to believe they'd been duped. Also, this was the last domestic full-size car to use only front lap belts. It cost over $11k new.
@jsrosa1282 That's awesome man, I really appreciated that! That's some great info too, I'm sure lots of people would enjoy reading that as well, thanks again bro! Take care
@saabkyle04 One more thing about that Eldo: The 500-ci V-8 engine was indeed the largest production engine you could buy in a car during the 1970s. It was essentially a bored-out 472-ci, which had been introduced in the '65 Cadillacs, and was the largest engine of its day, too. Of course, by '76 the 500 had been strangled by emissions. No offense to the owner, but my aging Volvo turbo station wagon ('99) would likely beat that Eldo in straight-line and track performance.
@jsrosa1282 $11k brand new really makes you think about how expensive everything is today. You can barely get a Hyundai Accent Blue trim line brand new for that much! lol
@scottdisney83 But you have to remember, we're talking 1976 dollars. And anybody on here who was around on or before my birth year ('82) will attest that $11k-$14k was a lot of money in '76. $11,000 in 1976 is equivalent to approximately $43,550 in today's money.
@jsrosa1282 Oh I totally agree, I just can't believe how much inflation has changed. It only makes sense, though. A 1976 Corolla would cost about $3.5k. I was born in '83. I remember back in '94, my parents bought a brand new '94 Ford Taurus. At the time, it was $14k (end of the year), and that was a bargain.
Wow kyle what a awesome find. Hopefully you can do a Coupe DeVille as well. Is this the Eldorado with the 500? That was one bad ass engine for its day. lol
So, that's how a Cadillac should sound! Great! :)

@arfi1990 INCORRECT. In 1976, the 500 cu in V8 produced 190 hp and 360 lb-ft torque.
The "400hp" figure was the engine's original rating before SAE net ratings, emissions and lowered compression took hold.

ablerz9005 3 months ago
@arfi1990 This 400 hp is SAE gross...
In 1970, with 10,5:1 compression ratio, it was around 300 net hp.
In 1971 the same engine could only put out 235 net hp. (nevertheless compression ratio was reduced to 8,5:1)
In 1976, it was only 190 net hp.

@FoxyWolfProductionz well. a'ight man. thanks. just funny a man i wasnt talkin to cursed me first.
09204418448 1 year ago

The buzzers on cars from the 70's are so annoying you have to listen to what they are trying to tell you

No offense to the owner, but my aging Volvo turbo station wagon ('99) would likely beat that Eldo in straight-line and track performance.
jsrosa1282 1 year ago
@saabkyle04 the hp did not change from the 74/75 to 76, it was just rated differently, the same engine
landmine950 11 months ago
@jsrosa1282 $11k brand new really makes you think about how expensive everything is today. You can barely get a Hyundai Accent Blue trim line brand new for that much! lol
scottdisney83 1 year ago
@scottdisney83 But you have to remember, we're talking 1976 dollars. And anybody on here who was around on or before my birth year ('82) will attest that $11k-$14k was a lot of money in '76. $11,000 in 1976 is equivalent to approximately $43,550 in today's money.
jsrosa1282 1 year ago
@jsrosa1282 Oh I totally agree, I just can't believe how much inflation has changed. It only makes sense, though. A 1976 Corolla would cost about $3.5k. I was born in '83. I remember back in '94, my parents bought a brand new '94 Ford Taurus. At the time, it was $14k (end of the year), and that was a bargain.
