I bought some land near the Williamsburg tunnel in Manhattan so I could go back to nature. It is beautiful , sometimes you dont see another person for days. I hunt Elk with a bow and arrow and catch fish from the Hudson with a spear.
He seems a lot happier than the guy on PBS who built a cabin in the woods and filmed it. Having a companion must make it much better. And he isn't loopy or faux macho like "Grizzly Man". I look forward to the rest of the episodes. Vice TV delivers!
@homognosticus He has a permit because he is living on a wildlife reserve. He doesn't own it. Its just that they were there before it became a reserve.
There is no such thing as owning your own land or home, You basically just lease. You can buy land or a home and the gov. can take it away at any time under public domain laws. If they think your area needs a park where your house is, then you have to move. Also if you think you own your land or home, try to stop paying your property taxes and see how quick you are evicted from your home/land.
Seems like you need to get to get your facts straight before you go off saying, "USA is anything else than a free country," which by the way is improper english. Anyways, fuck you. ;)
the video could use some upgrading, the pictures are 360p at most, kinda grainy , but nice story.

Do they own the land they live on? Then how can you need a permit for being on your own land?
Seems like USA is anything else than a free country.

i doubt he owns part a of a refurge.
You do know that even if they did own it they wouldnt have to get a permit but pay monstrous taxes on itl.

@Eddiefry That is exactly the way that I see it. All you own, technically, are the lease rights.
