  • Can anyone please tell me how long this overall piece is? I was never quite sure. I thought Romeo and Juliet was an opera but I guess I am wrong. Is it divided into movements? What's the overall structure of it? If anyone could tell me it would be greatly appreciated thanks!

  • Thats genius.

  • why music starts with development?

  • happy valentines day everybody!

  • Painting looks a little like Simon Pegg.

  • thumb ups on the house!

  • I love the song (Note to the pragmatics who will reprimand me for utilizing the wrong term, I am only doing that to provoke you)

  • 5 people are deaf

  • 8:10 gives me chills

  • @Statleburger reminds me of an ending of an amazing film, with the character looking into the sunset or into the future

  • amazing that these themes can be embedded into your subconscious in your youth only to be activated in your adulthood, when you come across it by sheer luck. This whole time not even consciously aware that you had such beautiful music in your head. pure bliss.

  • I felt the touch of God

  • I LOVE THISSS!!! ADN IMONLY 11!

  • In 2010, the Pace Marching Band performed "When Shakespheare's Women Meet" & it includedmusic by Tchaikovsky. Best marching show ever. :)

  • I'm 14 and I love this REAL music!

  • @lilgiggityz Well that's wonderful but here's a small hint to you. Don't put your age! Free internet viewing and if you're born under a bad star you might attract something you don't want to have!

  • 3:20 sounds strangely familiar...

  • 3:21 <3

  • Tchaikovsky....there isn't a word that can describe what his music does to me oh wait yes there is EARGASM!!!!

  • Where'd the beginning go?

  • 2:56 - 3:07 mainly

  • 2:45 sounds well as a beginning too

  • "Looks like we're inlaws, ey Squidward?"

  • So thats where sims 1 got the kissing part from! :).

  • @cablegunmaster YES. ITS THAT PART!!!!!!!

  • @cablegunmaster *lol* I have to admit that this is also my strongest association with that part :D

  • Une des plus belle piéce musicale au monde la fin m'a fait pleuré magnfique..

  • my age is irrelevant and i love tchaikovsky

  • This composer in my valued opinion is even greater than any of them including Beethoven

  • Yea its used in pop culture for romantic scenes like kissing etc.

  • Is the part beginning at 3:20 used in the beginning of movies? It sounds so familiar but I can't place it.

  • Ahah! Well I'm 19 to continue your count! :) :) Love Tchaikovsky, it's ageless. :) :)

  • Amazing, this guy was a genius!!

  • The russians compose the best music.

  • I am 14 and I LOOOOVE IT !

  • I have never heard the whole song before. So when it got to the famous part, I was like, "really? WOW." And the memories of the various commercials/movie parts suddenly flashes beautifully through my memory. I see why they love to use it so much ;)

  • ohh!! Ice Age! :D

  • did anyone know that in the Little Mermaid, Scuttle the seagull sings his own version of this song when he is providing a "vocaling romantic stimulation."? haha i didnt even know that until i listen closely to this.

  • @nhiapthao Oh my gosh, it DOES sound a bit like this XD

  • Favorite part 1:49 - 4:18

It all sounds incredible when put together. Tchaikovsky, you've done it again!

  • listening to this makes the hairs on my neck stand up!..It's beautiful and beyond belief!..My love of music could never be complete without it!!

  • 3:20 They play this a lot in sappy love scenes in those old cartoons, when the object of affection is surrounded by a heart-shaped frame.

My favorite part starts at 2:19

  • it seems like tchaikovsky has embedded his feeelings in this piece :) what an emotional melody it is. a great mind for composing one of the world's most romantic plays in history.

  • Reading the play in class!! btw I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!

  • I think in the deep level this piece is actually about gay love. The composer was a gay, and at that time he had to hide it and this piece shows the crazy power of emotion behind him.

  • i am doing a project on him and i have to say he is a wonderful and magnificent musician. he is my favorite i think he is better than any other composer or musican that ever lived. THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER TCHAIKOVSKY! and what a lovely song!

  • WOW!!! Which orchestra is this???

  • One of the greatest pieces of music of all time!!

  • I'M PLAYING THIS PIECE IN ORCHESTRA

    WHOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • 3:21 The Sims memories... :)

  • 3:21

    I feel like Im flying

  • I've heard 3:21 so many times on TV and other videos.

  • Now I just need to convince my tone-death peers that THIS is the human races history! :3D

  • Is this what love sounds like ? One has been missing so much...!

  • No one better captured the essence of Romeo and Juliet than Tchaikovsky.

  • 17 and thankful that I can enjoy these tunes.

  • 3:21 wonderful

  • In my 13 years prehistory this overture matches that to only the 1812, and nothing else comes close, tat is unless its a symphony

  • What orchestra/conductor is this? Excellent interpretation and performance!

  • 8:12 my heart breaks a little every time i listen... :)

  • at 3:20 the magic starts. Shivers down my spine.

  • I;m into old school music, but not this old (60's through 90's)XD But Its always cool to hear music that dates back to before even my parents were born and relate to how even today they still have influence in tv, movies, and even video games.

  • @Pooky1991 good music doesn't get old. paleolithical or contemporary.

  • @Pooky1991 You mean the 1860s through 1890s? Yep, plenty of good music was written then :-)

  • The part that everyone knows starts at 3:20

  • I think I'm in love with this song about love.

  • 6:25 is so haunting ... i love tchaicovsky .. such a genius

  • At 9:18 this song sucks

  • 8:11 sends shivers down your spine

  • I LOVE THIS SONG WITH FIERY PASSION

  • my favorite is between 3:20 and 3:27

  • @thisizrey same here is sooo magical i luv it!!

  • @thisizrey

    same

  • @thisizrey Because thats what plays when the Sims kiss for the first time ? XD

  • @Girliemeltem

    lol hahaha yeah

  • 1:49 i love it when the horn sounds on its own for about a second

  • Does Tchaikovsky have any living descendants?

  • @mooobtube Don't think so. Believe it or not, he was gay.

  • @stalrunner Yeah i knew he was gay; but he was married briefly once

  • @mooobtube True, but they were separated most of the time and never had any kids.

  • @mooobtube No, since he was gay and so was his brother, as for i think the other brother and sister, nothing is known

  • This is so 'transporting' it is amazing. The theme of 'tragic love' could NEVER be equalled. The yin-yang of the harsh trumpets contrast with the flowing strings of the love theme. I read that Tchaikovsky got bad reviews the first few times this was performed so he rewrote it several times. My fav part is the ending at 8:10, Would that Peter could be brought back, if only for one day, to know the magic that he created lives on... stronger than ever.

  • at what point is the love theme

  • @dhatsful from 2:40 to 5:00

  • The ominous intro with the hauting horns....This will go wrong....spinechilling 5:20 is IS going wrong. 6:17 is HAS gone wrong, still in death they are united for ever 8:13.

  • The ominous intro with the horns....This will go wrong....spinechilling. Still in death they are united for ever.

  • Ah so this is the source where series use to steal music from, when people kiss in love with each other xD! Apart of that, beautiful music!

  • I played in this for a youth orchestra and this finale is arguably the best in classical music.

  • _2jKeYuPvjM

  • If you could hear the full stokowski conduction. They used to have a wonderful one on here, guess it got taken off.

  • This is definitely not the best performance. I swear to you its a whole lot better, for those who haven't heard. Search for this piece again.

  • @Rkmajora I tend to agree with you. I listened to this growing up, and it I remember it being played a little slower. This version seemed "rushed" to me. But still amazing.

  • TCHAIKOVSKY WROTE THIS?

    Damn... what a masterpiece.

  • Simply magnificent- a master of the Musical Form meets the Master of the Dramatic Form.

    Tchaikovsky meets Shakespeare!

(So HOW can 2 people NOT like this?)

    Magnifique!

  • REN AND STIMPAYYYYY :D

  • sweet

  • Unbelievable.

  • Cherkin rules the piano now

  • Simply... Russian Power

  • This grips the soul. It makes me cry.

I have always loved this and I think it is a connection between our souls and that of this lovely composer.

  • this song is hard to play on the violin

    esppessally the real intence parts

  • greatest piece of music i ever heard of in my life..

  • @CrapHoesActNdGo RIGHT ON. CHILLING REMARKABLE HOW ONE MAN COULD POSSESS SUCH A GIFT TO CREATE A LILTING DREAMY MELODY.

  • Tchaikovsky - "I have reached a very mature age without resting upon anything positive... Undoubtedly I would have gone mad but for music. Music is indeed the most beautiful of all Heaven's gifts to humanity wandering in the darkness."

  • You are not alone

  • I love this soooooooooooooooo much. It sounds soooooooooo romantic and it reminds me of some scene: lovers running to eachother, arms wide open and then 3:20 at the background

  • this one's awesome but i love the nutcracker it is so....weird!!just like a mysterious dark night or somethin....

  • I'm performing this overture tomorrow in an Illinois High School District Orchestra. The First violin part is insane.

  • haha wow dood. im only 17 and im having to play 2:02-2:42 for texas all state. this song is amazing and i sure hope i make it

  • Hey, did you make Texas all state?

  • In my 67 years on the earth this overture rates as one of the most beautiful and emotional pieces of music I have heard.

I have seen it played at The Royal Albert Hall London and it was spine tingling.

  • Respect Man!

  • Thank you. ( I guess you are younger than me!)

  • @prehistory42 It is. It is so beautiful it makes my heart swoon. It is so romantic and romantic. I wish this music would never die. Any way you're 67? That's so cool. I bet you got to experience all that cool 50's 60's, 70's, 80's music. We should be friends. I'd love to hear about music before it went to shit.

  • Well, Mrs Banks, I don't really like being 67 but I'm glad I was there to witness the explosion of popular music as a teenager in the mid 50s. I was a great fan of Buddy Holly (Died 3rd Feb 1959) and have been lucky enough to see live The Beatles twice and also the great Ray Charles in concert among others of the era. Good music will never die and I know you will keep this appreciation alive along with the sheer beauty of Tchaikovsky.

  • love this

  • This is the best part of all. I love it.

  • Right at about 2:25 is the part I most know. )

  • 3:00

  • The one piece of music I really wanted to hear and my music book doesn't cover it! Thank you for posting!!

  • Heavenly. The end with that long drum roll gave me chills. :)

  • absolutely gorgeous.

  • DAMN I FOUND ITTTTTT :D

    LOVE LOVE LOVE

  • HAHAHA I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS SONG EVERYWHERE, NOT KNOWING WHAT IT'S CALLED, and after 44 minutes of searching, i've finally found it. THANK YOU JDAWG1692 for posting the time, cuz i suspected it'd be that part you were talking about.. and that's what im looking for :D

  • @Blossomflower989 Lol the EXACT same thing happened to me. It took me around an hour to find this song.

  • 3:16 - 4:21 are probably the most played romance theme of all time. and for good reason. i hate most classical music but this is just wicked.

  • :O I died a little inside when I read that last sentence.

  • I laughed a little inside when I read that one :P
