Thank you so much for your videos! I ran the Princess Half in February, and plan on signing up for the full in January! Thank you for the inspiration to keep going!
I can't thank you enough for this video! I joined you tube just so I could comment! You've inspired both my husband and I and we are going to do this marathon in 2012!
We are both beginners but know that nothing is impossible and anyone who's been to any Disney park knows, dreams really do come true!
Disney has always been a magical, special place for us. Seeing your videos brought tears to our eyes. We truly cannot wait for this experience.
@operationdisney : Thank you so much for the nice comments - it makes all the running/filming along the Disney half-marathon and marathon routes that much more satisfying. I began filming these races a number of years ago and just kept doing it to motivate others to reach their dream. You CAN do it and will do it. If you need any suggestions or tips regarding marathon training, don't hesitate to email me at leehoedl@yahoo.com. BEST OF LUCK AND MAGIC!
Wow! 35 is pretty awesome! Thanks for the encouragement. I just might be asking you for advice. Love the 2011 videos. I'm sure I'll watch them often to keep me motivated. Thanks again Lee :)
Thank you so much for this video! I am a beginning runner and am doing a half this summer. Your video has lit a spark in me! I WANT this so badly. I WILL do the Disney marathon :) Thank you for showing how much fun this run is. I am a huge Disney fan and can't wait for this awesome experience! Great job, and congratulations! You're awesome!! Way to go!
@deb454: You are so very welcomed! I'm very excited for you as well - I have been running marathons for a number of years and the 2011 Disney World Marathon marked my 35th marathon. They get better and better. Best of luck and let me know if you need any advice or suggestions regarding training or preparing for the Disney experience. You can view the 2011 Disney Half- Marathon and Marathon on my channel as well. My email is leehoedl@yahoo.com.
seriously great video. I'm starting training in a few days. So inspirational. I've always wanted the music from the stage show, where did you find it?
Lee- love your vids. I have a quick question for you. My wife and I are targeting the 2012 marathon to do for our first. I'm just getting started running (just did my first 5K three days ago), and I'm not incredibly fast, and my wife is pregnant and won't be able to begin to train until Dec 2010 at the earliest. What kind of times are typical at the Disney marathon? If we take 7 hours to finish, will we be booted off the course?
The Disney World Marathon sets the limit at 7 hours to finish the entire course; by most marathon standards, this is pretty generous. That is a 16-minute mile pace and the race is popular to walkers and first-time marathoners for that reason. If you take longer than 7 hours, they may not remove you from the course, but you most likely will not received your medal. I know you can do - you'll have plenty of time to train to "just finish" the race!
If you think it was cold while you were volunteering, you should have run and sweat during it. I actually had ice on my hat from my sweat freezing during the marathon. A very memorable run!
Brilliant video, well done, I would just LOVE to do this marathon, last one I done was Loch Ness, good scenery but not as exciting as this one, cant wait!
Actually, I did shoot this video while running the marathon. I did the same for the 2010 Disney World Half Marathon. However, I did stop, do a "catch breath" (hold my breath while steadying the camera) and filmed about 10 seconds at a time. After awhile, it can be pretty tiring...
That you for posting your wonderful Disney Marathon videos. They are what made got me to sign up and what kept me motivated while training. Watching this video brought back all the memories of one of my best experiences. You captured the race so well. I cant wait for 2011!!!
Lee thanks so much for capturing the memories of this year's Goofy race! You do an awesome job with your videos. Your comment at 4:42 captures the excitement of the weekend despite the character building temps we endured at the starting corrals both days! Are you running Goofy in 2011? If so see you there!
Amazing, fantastic and all the words I do not know to thank you for this AWESOME video. This was my 16th DWmarathon and 5th Goofy, thanks for letting me re live it.
Finally a great representation of the the actual race conditions. Thanks for capturing the memories for the rest of us who did not bring cameras! Congrats on Goofy!!
I was fortunate to be one of the volunteers helping operations this morning with the Disney full-marathon. I was overwhelm by the human spirit and determination displayed by the runners this morning. I am runner myself and I recently completed two half-marathons in Central Florida in a four-week period with finish times of 2:07 & 2:05 respectively. Your videos provide people inspiration and more importantly, hope. Watching your videos gives me the courage to sign up for a full-marathon.
Hey!!! I can only say : THANK YOU SOOOOO much! I ran the marathon and it was the volunteers who despite freezing out there always had kind words toward us and you can't imagine how that kept me going. Thanks again to you and all the other volunteers out there that day. You ROCK !!!!
Thanks for the video! Brings back so many memories. My first full marathon was Disney in 2007. The conditions were quite different. They had record high temps close to 90 degrees. I would have much preferred this!
Where do you get the music from?
StarGirl11 6 months ago
@StarGirl11: Much of the music you can purchase at the Disney World and Disneyland parks - which is where I got the soundtrack to add to this video.
