She was the total package: looks, talent and dance skills. At this point, it's too late for her to reclaim her throne. she IS singing live... i saw her twice in the late 80's early 90's and she not once lip synched... she not only sang live, but choreograhed and danced her ass off!! she may have a different image now, but this back then was ALL REAL. i think people who are not old enough dont remember that she topped the charts with #1 hit after hit, sold out concerts, aand choreographed everything from the Academy awards, George Michael, Janet and Michael Jackson. And, She mentored Wade Robson from SYTYC dance.

she is pretty obviously singing. the fact she does lip sync with the dance heavy numbers is about as shocking as the sun coming up. so it's not unless your an idiot. if people are the singing experts they seem to think themselves to be? they of course know or at the very least basic logic would tell them, that in a performance requiring very strenuous physical movement. you could not possibly properly support the breathing and physical aspects required to sing well, and breathe while dancing

Again, see my original post and what I said about Dannii Minogue. She has released several albums, and some of her songs have performed well (ish) in the charts. (I'm in the UK, I'm not sure how well Dannii has been received in the US)

Her career is comparable to Paula's in many ways, mainly that she is known more for being a "recording artist" then a live performer. Yes, they both have industry knowledge, but with both there are many artists better placed to judge a vocal talent contest

Back to my point - Paula isn't bad, but there are many people who could do the job better. Why not a former Idol winner? Or a different artist better known for their talent?

Yeh...this looks like it's live singing. Paula has lip-synced (mimed) a LOT over the years - in all fairness she *can* hold a tune but she isn't the most talented singer. And after all, her period of fame was the late 80s-early 90s, when miming was less controversial than it is now, and she was always better known for being a dancer-choreographer than a singer.

Still, I don't think she deserves to be a judge on American Idol, just as I don't think Dannii Minogue belongs on X Factor!
