  • Exacto knife #11 blade you can scrape the flange off the hole you made very cleanly!

  • Why not just cut it out with a square punch?

  • wrap your cards in foil ( a Faraday cage...look it up). the foil will keep RF from entering the foil covered area. sort of like a cell phone won't work if wraped in foil. Try it...no RF can pass thru a well wrapped foiled card or phone.

  • 3 seconds, no more, in the mircowave oven will kill the rfip chip or it's antenna

  • If you need to 'fill in' the hole, use superglue and then sand it smooth (after it's long-dried...). That will make the card smooth, and no one will notice the "hole" cause there won't be one.

  • What's the shirt about? Looks cool!

  • Here's a concept........USE CASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • couldn't people build RFID readers and sap your bank account dry by just waving it over your wallet? That seems really insecure.

  • @ConspiracyCult people actually do that they talked about it on the discovery channel once and how they read your card right through your pocket and wallet.

  • The best way to deal with a credit card is to cut it into as many pieces as you can. Stop spending money that you don't have.

  • @frogsoda i disagree. burning is more effective and easier

  • @Vonlava ..Burning plastic smells bad. and makes the trees sad. Plus that RFID chip can explode if it gets too hot.( OK I made that last part up, but it sounds like a good rumor to get started.) >;~)

  • @Vonlava Naa Burning plastic stinks and it makes the trees sad. Plus that RFID chip can explode if heated too much.(Ok I made that last part up. But it sounds like a good rumor to start) >;~)

  • Holy shit guys. I would have never thought of this myself.

  • 5MM drill some 240 Sandpaper and i got mine done under 5 mins and i got a nice key hole now for days i only need my card =).

  • Just pop that sucker in the microwave for a few seconds.

  • @TheHemlock77 that would ruin the mag strip and possibly melt the card if left in too long

  • Um, that's not 'deactivating' it. That's utterly *destroying* it. : /

  • @seanriddolls its not active now is it?

  • save this video or at least write the instructions down on paper before its too late

  • use a hole punch

  • We have the same IKEA tool kit!

  • @DomePieceStudios dosent that destroy the strip to?

  • you can just call the company and let them know you don't fell comfortable and they'll send you a normal card

  • your card won't work. RFID tech is the devil, but why have a credit card just to disable it?

  • or could you just block it with a small piece of metal (aluminum foil perhaps)

  • @Zeldagigafan90210 Wouldn't aluminum extend the range if rfid antenna? When I was a kid we used to put aluminum foil on the tv antenna for better reception.

  • @TheHemlock77 I've seen ads on TV about an aluminum wallet that's suppose to prevent RFID's from transmitting, besides the antenna is only receiving the data, the card is what's sending the data, so it might be different.

  • now all you have to do is deactivate your bank account and insist on cash in all your transactions, then if we all do it the banks will be well and truly fecked

  • I understand the concern about PayPass/RFID, but there is a dividing line between a reduction in security and a reduction in "ease of living". That line needs to be discussed, and sometimes willingly crossed into insecure land.

  • @KaldekBoch Explain to me how using the old fashioned magnetic strip cc, equates to a reduction in "ease of living"?

  • @TheHemlock77 Simple - the magstrip on my cards always wear out. I'm quite happy to tap my card to pay for small transactions. I understand there is the risk of it being compromised, but it's just that - a *risk*.

  • just nuke the RFID in the microwave.

  • @DomePieceStudios Scary thing is I posted the same idea, not sure what effect it would have on magnetic strip though.

  • How do you even use your card after you do this if you need to enter a pin number? The chip controls that too.

  • @hagbard72 it's not a chip & pin card like the ones in Europe. We don't have that system in USA.

The 'chip' in this card is an RFID chip, not a gold surface mounted chip like chip-and-pin.

  • @dotben Well, I have the pay-pass and it also works with a PIN number. I'm just concerned if I remove the RFID the card won't work for the PIN (which is required for instore purchase). I live in Canada btw, so it would be the same as the US.

  • @hagbard72 oh I see, my bad. Yes, it will totally break and destroy pay pass because that's exactly what that chip is for!

My point, in the video, is that the concept is insecure and that the RFID can be used to track you even if a specific transaction request isn't made.

These systems will only become secure when they're more widely built into mobile phones rather than cards, where a second stage of authentication and confirmation is built in to the phone itself

  • @dotben I want to be able to run the PIN, but NOT the pay pass. So if it kills pay pass that's great. If it kills PIN, not good.

  • Thinkgeek sells an RFID blocking wallet.

  • A bit barbaric but I cannot say ineffective.

  • You could use a paper punch. However, store clerks are not supposed to take tampered cards in payment. If they don't see it has been tampered with because you're at a terminal then you'll probably be okay. But if you have to hand it to a clerk then they might confiscate it and cut it in half.

The other solution is to just ask your bank or credit card company to give you an RFID card without a chip on it. Simple. They do provide old-fashioned credit cards with just a magnetic strip.

  • @yvettegr never had a problem using the card - and had it like this for years. Honestly, I don't think most shop-clerks could care really.

  • @yvettegr If a clerk took my card and cut it half that would be a mistake and could result in me inflicting serious bodily injury to the clerk. They have 0 authority to do anything to a persons credit card besides return it to them.

  • @yvettegr "an RFID card without a chip on it" You mean a card without an RFID chip, not "an RFID card", right?

  • now wouldnt your card be considered tampered with when you have to give your card to tellers for certain purchases?

  • OOOOPS now the card is just HEMORRHAGING MONEY

  • RFID dust. kids dont breath this....or season your food with it.

  • @PainfulOrpheus Should've blended it.

  • very cool thx.. :0)

  • Why not go to an office supply store and use a hole punch?

  • if your card company sent you one send it back to them, tell them to cram it up their fucking god damn ass holes! and to send you another card without the chip bullshit on it, if they refuse. cut that fucking card out in a way that spells FUCK U and mail it back to them tell them to close your account out! and to kiss your ass! and open another card thru another company that dont use that chip bullshit and if they all use it, then learn to live without a god damn interest jacking credit card.

  • Lol people really think that the goverment is tracking us.. Even if they are.. Really.. Who cares

  • @ringorules1994

Yeah! Really, who cares what our forefathers fought and died for... It's called freedom, and I care.

  • @ringorules1994 no, he said that he is disabling it, because he wants to know when he gets charged, and not have every card in his wallet get charged every time he makes a purches.

also, with an active RFID, someone could steal money from you, by simply walking next to you with the right kind of reader.

  • @ringorules1994 i work for a government.. i seem to have lost your file.. i need your current address, d.o.b., any active accounts you have active, your mothers maiden name, social security #, what your favorite color is, and where you like to go in your spare time..? actually i already know where you go in your spare time cause im 'tracking' you by your phone/licence/credit-card.. muhahahhaha!!!!

  • @ringorules1994 right, because protecting your privacy was never really important anyway.

  • It's obvious where this is going. They want to monitor your whereabouts and your spending. It will be argued that law abiding citizens have nothing to fear, that in fact safety for all will be enhanced, that only criminals should worry if they know where you are or your spending details. Maybe someday there will chips in your cars, in your wallet, maybe even in your body, then as they watch you drive down the road on camera they can know who is behind the wheel. We will all be so much safer then

  • @MrAntonLucas uhh safer? no buddy that sounds like something out of a dystopia

it's none of the damn government's business to know what I do in my day by day activity, if they didn't suck so hard then people won't have to rise and resist now would they?

  • @108MCruz Don't approve of all this monitoring at the cost of personal freedom. Soon the US will be like Shenzhen China with thousands of cameras everywhere, computers analyzing images using facial recognition software, identifying you nearly as accurately as by your fingerprints, maybe better as even plastic surgery doesn't hide you, and where do they get the money for all this?

  • @MrAntonLucas They get the money from the hidden federal banks. The banks can produce as much 'unaccounted' money as they want. The result is inflation. These banks are in every country because of the Rothschild family. Look them up on youtube or google if you want. As sad as it may seem, many american's and other people will remain blind to the truth. Even when you show them all the truth and facts they will deny it. Education is the killer of ignorance. Stay strong!

  • would it be easier to put in microwave for 5 seconds?

  • @nuyjin you got that from the other video huh?

  • @nuyjin that would destroy the magnetic strip as well.

  • I am loving it!!!

  • R u in america? U dont sound american. I havent seen those here myself

  • @PolishCutie93 yup in America. Nope, not American.

  • is that an american version or british version?

  • @UltraDOG17 American. I live in USA

  • @dotben of the credit card you're using, my friend.

im quite nervous as im researching on this RFID chips & stuff.

so i landed on your video.

i got an debit card & i wonder if i got an RFID chip in it as well.

  • @UltraDOG17 I can't paste urls into comments but google image search "rfid credit card symbol" to see the logo - if it has a logo like this on the card, then it has the RFID chip in it.

This is for American cards btw, although they may now be in cards in other countries too - I live in USA

  • @dotben

    Quite Disturbing man.

i live in this sorry dump with you, man.

outta curiousity of random: do you like Ron Paul or no?

do you think the RFID chip embebbed in folks would be real or faux?

excuse my ignorance again, good friend.

  • is that real...

    pardon my ignorance.

  • @UltraDOG17 is what real? pardon my ignorance

  • you doing that has caused no loss harm or injurie to me - i wish every one was as cautious as you mate the world would be a better place

  • kippah?

  • @Doom3695 ?

  • i dont know why u lot are worrying about rfid chips so what if they track you down like i give a shit its not like i rob banks or shops everyday. for all i know they can track me if they want to.

  • ikea toolkit

  • @Rizzbotchimps indeed, ftw!

  • why???? i mean why???? for the sake of £15! that im sure they insure if your card is stolen anyway just why ?????

  • @feonix11 it's not about uninsured/fraud. It's about being tracked even when you don't actually use your card for a transaction. the RFID chip can respond to a 'ping' even if it isn't to actually make a transaction.

  • As we can see people do not want it .... we all need to come together an refuse it before they try putting inside of humans ... infact we should kill these disturbed people who want to track us ....

  • I want that shirt

  • @DaSamoan23 isn't it awesome? Limited edition Chris Pirillo Gnomedex shirt!

  • Wouldn't the card be disabled and therefore of no use if you disable the chip?

  • @keliciousify nope, because the magnetic strip is still in tact. This isn't the same as the 'chip and pin' cards in Europe.

  • would it not have been easier just to cut that little chip out with a scalpal or stanley knife?

  • @stephen88hox Scalpel/stanley knife/exacto knife would slip quite easy on that kind of plastic, and the potential consequences don't feel worth the risk.

I like having all my fingers in tact with no chunks of flesh missing ;)

  • wat bout debit cards?

  • Comment removed

  • There are also RFID protection wallets and card holders into which you can place your RFID-based credit cards, and the cards cannot be read by anyone while they are in these protective devices. Not also that your passport now has RFID chips, and the same solutions are available for passports.

  • The government knew where you lived back in the 1900's! Ever heard of a home phone? And ever since you've been using your credit card whenever you make a transaction, its location is given. So it's ok for the government to track your every move from those ways, but it's terrible if they use an RFID chip. Makes total, total sense.

  • @macsdestroyspcs2 lol so they knew where you LIVED not ur every damn move. Think about what is happening to us. Don't do anything illegal God forbid. Just curious to know why they care so much what everyone is doing and where going.

  • You can put the card in the microwave 2 or 3 seconds it's done !

  • thnxs for the credit card number

  • @skrillakilla402 you can't see the number in the video

  • Why the fuck do you even get a credit card? Just don't get them.

  • @unfortunatebeam Unfortunately if you don't use a credit card you don't get a credit rating.

That can have unexpected consequences. I know a woman who saved, never had a credit card, used cash, wanted to buy a house. She had enough to PAY CASH IN FULL for the house, no mortgage, no credit needed, etc.

She couldn't. Turned down for the house because of no credit record even though she wasn't applying for a mortgage.

Use a card, but always pay it off fully each month.

  • @jafafah0ts rally/protest to at least try and change the laws and rules so that you can get a house for just cash/cheque. Don't just sit passively by and follow non-sensical dictates from corporations who want you to add to the debt bubble so they can cash in on the derivatives and other securities trading. Even if you pay it off you each month you have to pay extra in interest, and that to me is just needless bullshit, plain and simple. If you don't see that, you're a sucker.

  • @unfortunatebeam I don't pay interest. There are still cards out there that don't begin finance charges until 20 or 30 days, etc.

  • @unfortunatebeam mainly for the consumer protections afforded to you from using a credit card that are not there if you pay with a debit card.

Any fraud on a credit card is easily dealt with, whereas on a debit card it's money that will be missing from your checking account until the bank resolves the missing.

On my card I get 90 days accidental theft or damage protection too and 2% cash back

Tell the bank to auto-pay it off every month, never spend more than you have. Beats debit cards.

  • @dotben Um? Even if you are personally responsible and don't spend more than you have you still have to pay needless interest that you wouldn't have to if you just used cash (that's assuming you don't get charged to take money out of a machine at your own bank), and you also add to the debt bubble of the greater economy which will inevitably crash once again.

  • @dotben 2% cash back, LOL. What's your interest rate...

  • @geragna most credit cards don't charge you any interest if you pay the total amount within a certain number of days of your monthly bill... I've never been charged any interest on my credit card, so I don't know.

  • @unfortunatebeam That isnt a realistic option anymore. Check cards, bank cards are all being chipped too. Even if you avoid the evils of credit cards, you sure can not avoid having a check card. Soon paper checks will not be accepted anywhere, mark my words.

  • @RageMojo It's perfectly realistic. I don't have credit cards, and I never will, and I get along fine. If by check card you mean debit card than yeah there is a way you can avoid it if you simply receive cheques from your place of work, go in directly to the teller and cash them at the bank, and keep your money in your own safe. Or you can put your money into a credit union or bank co-op, also a good and available option.

  • @unfortunatebeam Im with you! I dont use CC's or banks at all. And if I have to do something that wont take cash I pay my mom to use her's or just buy a pre paid card and then destroy it. :D

  • The tapping of a credit card on a reader is called Verifone.

  • Is there a reason why you did not use a HOLE puncher? It would make the job much easier and would punch out the chip... Bash the chip with a hammer and call it a day. ;)

  • LOL , i just crush them with any smooth object. they make a very satisfying crack.

  • my teeth would have been easier

  • Why not just wrap the card in aluminium foil?????????????

  • These chips are actualy quite useful, and I would imagine that a majority of cards will be useing this feature in the near future, so the swiper at the check stands will/allready do have the RFID, soooo, there are RFID blocker sleeves that slip over the card, and I belive the Aluma-wallet blocks the signals as well so no need to pop a hole in you'r card.

  • we dont have RFID chip in credit cards here in Uk, I hope am right, any one could prove me wrong?

  • @aljoodey barclay card

  • @crazyfool786

    thank you

  • @aljoodey We do, although it is under a different name, it is called NFC (Near Field Communication) As Crazyfool said, Barclays have implemented this technology into some of their more modern cards. Is is a similar concept to RFID, however it really is Near Field, the card (and actually some smart phones have this tech with which apps can be "charged" with cash, and used in the same way as a debit card) only transmits at very close range, and is less vulnerable than the American equivalent. :)

  • @benharvey16

horrible n scary world how easy was to enslaved by zionist n mason, we are at thier service :(

  • I'd get one of those readers just to make sure that it's deactivated.

  • whyat if u cant see throu your card???

  • "a hammer"

    lol

    never would have thunk it

  • he says deactivating but he means mutilating

  • I'm sure there will come a day when intentionally destroying an RFID Chip in one of these cards will be illegal...or they will simply stop including the scanner strip altogether. People that use cash are already being demonized by the establishment as possible security risks and or terrorists. We wouldn't want a whole population of criminals and terrorists running around willy nilly buying bread and milk without being tracked....would we.

  • @videocity65 the credit card companies prolly made it illegal to deface it in all their contracts n agreements that u sign when ur given the card...

  • @videocity65 If you don't have anything to hide, then why not use a credit card. They are simply more convenient than cash. The only people who are so concerned with using only cash for everything are people who probably have something to hide. If you're just buying bread and milk, why hide it. I'm not saying everyone who uses cash is a terrorist or drug dealer, plenty of say waiters use cash from tips, but why be so secretive. No one is out to get you unless you give them a good reason.

  • @videocity65

I would like to add, as evidence that using cash has been demonized: /watch?v=AreVBMiyQM4

  • "Here, we will put this RFID chip in plain sight on the credit card and no one will even think of destroying it!"

Well done government, you've proved your ignorance once again.

  • @xDarkland Actually, it is:

"Here, we will put this RFID chip in plain sight on the credit card, and very few people will notice it; those who do will most likely not bother to do anything about it."

  • @muntoonxt Because You Don't like hare the hard truth how you gonna have better life if you dodge Truth than later listen to lies You any1 else stop acting like lilltle Babies kiddies and grown the F.U.C.K.E.D UP! -_-

  • @6Matt7 Well, at least that's more readable. Congrats on learning how to type with a ratio of 144 minuscules to 14 majuscules.

Good job! You are getting better at trolling. Maybe one day, you can master the subtle art of trolling, though I seriously doubt it.

  • @Cheeched757 I Type What The Fuck I Want To Type You Dink

& @stebecool I'M Not try bull shit all like. that b mostly yea we all tracked down poison air gets pollution lies n make believe n NWO n One World Gov Free Mason Jews CIA FDA FEMA Nati and many more it Right now happen slowly dyeing we all need to STAND UP WAKE UP N DO OUR PART WHEN YOU READY WALK N TALK ABOUT IT NO MORE NON SENSE WOKE UP MORE IN YOUR HEAD INSIDE OF YOU LISTEN PEOPLE IT's STILL SOME HOPE

  • @6Matt7 I am not even going to read the rest of your comment.

  • @6Matt7 You have some serious issues... Looking at your profile, i'm seeing a lot of activity in the Conspiracy section of Youtube, specifically Alex Jones, who is famous for making a scene with bullshit. I suggest you reconsider the preposterous allegations of population poisoning, because frankly, it's complete rubbish. And don't flame people who accuse you of drug induced rage, because you are raging, and if you believe your own theories, you are indeed poisoned by meth...........Lol.

  • If you get a very strong magnet and wipe it back and forth along the mag stripe, you will make the card even more secure...

  • @rgoodwinau Right! I've heard a pair of scissors can also help to ensure card security.

  • Go ahead, do it. You won't be able to get to work with the ATM machine. Most new ATM (bank card) will need RFID to make transalation.

  • just use a hole punch

  • Well now ... that was very high tech.

  • nice shirt ;)

  • @antonioscheel I Don't Think Me Or Any1 Weak Minded if They Know More Around Them & What's Going On In The World Today Right & Wrongs Plus You Don't Even Know Me.

  • WTF? Wired I Try To Click On This Video 25 Times But Won't Let Me View & See This Video I'm More Convinced Illuminati Like a Mother Fucker'a Be careFul People They Toxic Everything Clothes Food & Water Just Shows That White People & Look a Likes Are The Fucking Devil Most People Need To Wake The FUCK UP & NOT KEEP LET THIS RETARED HOCS POCS fURTHER HAPPEN FTW! OCCPALY THE WORLD OCCPALY THE EVERTHING. TeamKilluminati

  • @6Matt7 Weak minded

  • @6Matt7 lol

  • @6Matt7 All of that was sarcasm, right?

  • @6Matt7 Meth much? Or Do You Always Type Like This?

  • @6Matt7 Yeah it's the white people lmaooooo!

  • you have a semi-transparent credit card ?! that's so awesome ! in Canada we have super boring bland cards. :(

  • Are these chips satellite trackeble, when not being used?

  • If you dont use them (as you say in the clip)why do you get one and take chip out?

  • While RFID does have a potential security risk, you really haven't touched the security risk that affects all credit/debit cards skimmers at ATMs, POS terminals, or middle man interception which can only be 100% avoided by not using plastic anywhere. Just by storing a RFID card in a foil sleeve or full metallic case you can keep 99% of skimmers from reading your card wirelessly. The other 1% will try to read your card as you use it to pay which would be typically noticable.

  • use a hole punch

  • Why not just use a hole punch to take the chip completely out of the card? No messy edges.

  • The best way is to carry any cards with RFID in them is to carry them in foil or a small metal case. These days RFID's can be readable if a person walks by you with a small scanner to gather info. Block all readers by blocking the scan with foil until ready to use. That way you will not be defacing the card.

  • @Melvinfrench91 don't get one....much simpler

  • should not use a credit card in the first place

  • @HorChild read previous comment lol forgot to

  • You knobhead. You basically tried to say white people are racist but didnt prove that they are racist just proved to everyone else that you are racist. So im saying what ever race you are all of them are racist which probably isnt true unless your a terrorist. Are you? You sound like one...

  • why not just use a hole punch?

  • interesting Ben, could you explain to me the security vunerability caused by the chip being active in the card ?

  • @TheJinwhang sure. I can't paste urls into YouTube video comments but google:

    "Skimming RFID Credit Cards Schneier

  • @TheJinwhang anyone with a proper laptop and equipment can read your RFID chip and take the cards information off it and well there you go, have fun watching your bank account go to the negative within a few minutes

  • USE A DRILL NEXT TIME

  • How long before police arrest and/or harass this guy on behalf of the banksters?

  • @HorChild, wow that was racist. Doesn't matter what color you are.. Humans are assholes and your on the list. Gods dont exist.... People do

  • what the fuck where the fuck do you get one of those
