they work for me, too! not sure if I have an iron deficiency but i can tell when i stop taking my vitamins. my hair seems to stay the same length and my nails start peeling. Hair grows and nails stay strong after taking the vitamins for a month again!

hayy i just wanna say that you are so pretty! im taking the same brand of prentals and i have a question, my hair is like a lil shorter then shoulder length like an inch shorter, how long will it take for it to reach my chest? or what was your experiance?
You should just take the hair skin and nails vitamins..Prenatles have more in them then you actually need...they give you back what your baby is taking away from you..
actually you do have to be super careful taking prenatals. The iron in them is extremely high, and taking them when you're iron isnt low, or not taking them at the exact same time each day can cause an iron overdose. which sounds stupid, but is really scary. I took them for a month and a half, and the iron in them caused me to faint randomly. If it works, good, just be super super careful.
Iron intake during pregnancy according to the Mayo Clinic should be about 27mg/day for women. Normal intake is around 18mg. If you are increasing total iron intake that much over a long period of time, you can develop iron poisoning.
The hair growth, although not entirely confirmed through research, is most likely due to the increased folate. You may be better off taking regular vitamins tailored to women and a hair growth formula (which already contain folate) instead of risking...
@TrustMeImAlmostADr -Just wondering, but what hair growth formula contain folate or should u just take folate separately? Is there such a thing as folate poisoning? Thanks!
@MellySnow711 Here's the only information I really know about folate levels:
marchofdimes .c o m /pnhec /24043_24076 . asp
(without the spaces)
apparently, there isn't really a known toxic level (As opposed to iron which does have known toxic levels)., but extremely large doses may lead to organ damage (kidneys I believe but I'm not positive).
I have seen hair growth formulas with folate although I am not sure of the names (I don't use that myself)
@TrustMeImAlmostADr I would probably speak to a physician or nutritionist who would be more knowledgeable of safe long-term high doses of vitamins.
The real important thing to remember is just because you can buy it in a store doesn't mean its safe. Especially when you start to use products in ways they weren't intended to be used (hence why prenatal vitamins contain folate AND iron, and hair formula with folate most likely would not).
You should be careful with those. Vitamins aren't "just vitamins"...and prenatal vitamins are formulated for pregnant women who need more folic acid, Iron and Calcium. Although short term use while trying to get pregnant is ok (and during pregnancy), you could harm yourself over prolonged use of prenatal vitamins if you aren't getting pregnant (or lactating).
The reason is mostly due to excessive intake of certain vitamins. I'd say your greatest concern should be iron.
Great video, for those who can't swallow pills for medical reasons or if they are too big, this is a great liquid Prenatal; Nature's Plus Prenatal Liquid Natural Tropical Fruit Flavor :-)
thank you so much.....this video helped me 100% cuz im african american and my hair breaks off but it does grow but i heard prenatal vitamins really help hair to grow strong and the thing i was worried about was getting sick off them will they make me sick and you answered that cuz im only 15 NOT PREGNANT i just wnt longer hair . but thank you alot ! im gonna subscribe to you. :)
girl im gettin them for my hair skin nails....i 16 not pregnant ...and yes u can use them if ur not pregnant i researched it and in fact many doctors say that all women should use them )just the reccomended dose) they would be in a much healthier condtion
if you think about a pregnant woman taking prenatal vitamins she takes them for nine months. then she gets pregnant again so she takes them for another nine months. doctors all over will tell pregnant women to start taking prenatal vitamins...why would they tell them that if they knew it would cause organ damage? just sayin
well like i said in my video, i used spring valley. i have a friend that uses target brand and she said her bottle was only like 2 dollars. she also said that hers worked great...but i would stick to spring valley :)
it wont hurt u in the short term, but in the long term they can cause organ damage. so i your trying to grow your hair only take them for short periods to be on the safe side.

hannahgrace1708 2 years ago
damaging your body with excess iron.
You could also always ask your Dr.
But yea vitamins can and do become toxic if taken in excess.
