im indian and i have to say sri lankan airlines have the best service ive ever experienced. i once almost lost luggage but thanks to their competence it was re routed and arrived at the destination before i did. great food too. definitely the best airlines - i would choose it inspite of two stopovers from melbourne to india, over any other airline.

A major correction. Sri Lankan is not the largest foreign carrier to serve India. It is now Emirates. Sri Lankan Airlines have significantly cut their frequencies into India by a half.

Yeah this is a four year old advert. They no longer fly to Hyderabad, Kochi, Goa or Kozhikode, and have cut schedules to other Indian destinations by about a third from what they were when this advert was made.

One reasons for that kolkatta isnt at thier schedule is because it isnt any contact between most of north india and sri lanka. Delhi is important as it is the capital, rest of the cities are south indians, except mumbai which is a westindian city and indias largest city and the countrys meltingpot.

sri lankan actually has allot of international routes for a country of its size....

International routes are lucrative.

For the Subcontinent, domestic Indian routes are even more lucrative. It's easier for a Sri Lankan airline to make money on a Delhi-Bangalore route, than on a city-to-city route in Sri Lanka itself, where the geography makes it better and more economical to go by road or rail.

Sri Lankan airlines is wise in opening routes in India.

I would personally trust Sri Lankan Airlines over Indian Airway anyday. They maintain their aircraft well over Indian airways. Indian Airways being the national courier of India needs a revamp in order to compete with Sri Lankan Airways.

Actually Sri Lankan Airlines does do courier services well okay techincally speaking freight and mail services. They use to use two Russian beasts the Antonov-12 aircraft now down to one. Antonov is owned by Ukraine now just incase your wondering. I don't know about standard of service now though it used to be good it must have dropped now.
