I do like covers but I can't stand when guys change the lyrics to maintain their masculinity. It was the same thing with Katy Perry's "One That Got Away" where the males would replace "make out in your mustang to radiohead" with "make out in MY mustang to radiohead". I'm not a feminist, but this is a pet peeve so I'm going to have to dislike this. Fair attempt though!

Your voice is an unreal match for this song. It blows my mind every time I listen to your cover. It's so difficult to make gender-specific lyrics sound good for the opposite gender, and you sir did it perfectly. Your tone, vibrato, and emotion is spot on. I think changing lyrics, shuffling things around for identity-of-the singer reasons goes against the song. I would rather maintain the lyrics without the change, or don’t attempt to perform it. But don’t change the lyrics!

That being said, I think this song is more suited for a female voice. Your treatment is more like a Coldplay-ish rendition with a little ‘November Rain’ at the end. I applaud your vocal daring, but this didn’t do it for me.

I agree! I think he did a great job and has a wonderful voice that he made work for this song, but the change of lyrics was kind of clumsy.

Just sing the words, no one will think any different of you for singing the lyrics to a song you like, and if they do...so what? You'll never meet these people, and the praise that you do receive will be coming from people who really appreciate your voice and your arrangement, which were both really good!
