Actualy the gap is only about 20 years, if you count his time as an UnSent. Auron was originaly from Spira, He was on Braska's Pilgramage and after he died, Sin/Jet took him to Zanarkin inorder to keep a promise that Auron had given Jet to look after Tidus.

And if you don't count the years as an UnSent, the gap is only about 10 years.
