the strider game made this console a winner, to bad some dipshit came up with the idea of "strider returns"in fact i still partially blame greedy capcom for giving strider to u.s. gold.

at least i read a rumor from quartyemann (egm) that capcom finally got off their lazzy bums and are aiming at strider to finally gibe him his third game.

Yeah but I had a Genesis for years before the overpriced SNES even came out. SNES didnt have good games for years. And in 1995 I dropped the Genesis and got a Playstation. So if you got a SNES in 1992 you had like 3 years of games before it was obsolete. With Genesis you had like 7 years.

The Genesis 1 had Stereo sound but only out of the headphone jack hence the free speakers in the advert. The Genesis 2 had stereo sound but no headphone jack.

Christmas '90 was an AWESOME year for me. I picked up the Mega Drive version of Strider for $40 at Die Hard Gamers Club in Tarzana, CA! I also got Sword of the Vermillion and a Atari Lynx system on Xmas day!

The Genesis is a legend. I bought mines at release on September 15th,1989 because it was released in L.A. and New York first a month before. I got Altered Beast with it. I was 9 then and yet after a few tries I beat it. Lucky the game with the console. It is now nearly 18 years old and mines still is in good shape. Shadow Dancer was a great game, albeit short. But hard especially the last stage with the rooms. And Strider rocked too. GENESIS 4-LIFE!!!

yup. the little radio was kinda lame cus some of the sounds in genesis games wasnt really worth the surround. its one of the original consoles. i dont think ill ever part with it. proper maintenance over the years. great condition.

Stereo sound is a major thing that SEGA took advantage of with the Genesis. Listen to Sonic, you will hear the rings cling to the left speaker, then the right, also, the music has stereo effects as well. u guys are stuck with the RF wire haha, get the stereo audio video cable unless you have genesis model 1 (the one with the headphone jack, then hook it up to a receiver or some headhones).

lol gamegod1 the genesis system not the core model happened to have headphone jacks if you recall. The Stereo spakers are a nice addition considering most tv's back then were mono.

I never understood Genesis's headphone jack and hardwired volume controls. If those were necessary, Nintendo would have had them. It was just a waste of money, I think.
