@UltraSWG, @NerfDeathcoil, @jim81jim, @5RichieRich, & @EmuOo: Yes, he did say "16 Bit life-like graphics," & it was very funny. But to be honest, that comment was really targeting towards the NES & mocking the NES before the SNES came out.
What was really odd was that Strider was really popular in the arcades, but I seem to remember (maybe I'm wrong) Strider selling at least 500K on the Genesis. Maybe I'm confusing it with another Capcom game.
ahhh...you know my generation dont have ads like you guys had...all of my commercials are like: buy are products its good!!!?!?!?!!!!!!....but your ads you guyses ads were all up in your face going oh yeh bitch if you don't buy this your gonna be the f*ckin' nerd on the block so go andsteal your parents credit card NOW....
this generation and i gotta tell you it sucks the music is crappy, toys are being taken off the market cause some dumbass kid chokes on a plastic missle, although the technology is considerably better
@Nightavenger2 it was about a dystopian future ninja on a quest to end some evil tyrant's reign, oh and the bad guy also made the character the last of the strider ninja group by killing his comrades, so revenge too.
the strider game made this console a winner, to bad some dipshit came up with the idea of "strider returns"in fact i still partially blame greedy capcom for giving strider to u.s. gold.
at least i read a rumor from quartyemann (egm) that capcom finally got off their lazzy bums and are aiming at strider to finally gibe him his third game.
Yeah but I had a Genesis for years before the overpriced SNES even came out. SNES didnt have good games for years. And in 1995 I dropped the Genesis and got a Playstation. So if you got a SNES in 1992 you had like 3 years of games before it was obsolete. With Genesis you had like 7 years.
The Genesis 1 had Stereo sound but only out of the headphone jack hence the free speakers in the advert. The Genesis 2 had stereo sound but no headphone jack.
Christmas '90 was an AWESOME year for me. I picked up the Mega Drive version of Strider for $40 at Die Hard Gamers Club in Tarzana, CA! I also got Sword of the Vermillion and a Atari Lynx system on Xmas day!
at one time Atari 2600 graphics blew people's minds. I wonder when it will be when we look back at the ps3 and XBox 360 and laugh about how horrible they looked.
These were not Consoles but Computers but they had some of the most or best games ever made for them and they are the Commodore 64 & Commodore Amiga. Look them up and see if you produce some video's about them :)
The Genesis is a legend. I bought mines at release on September 15th,1989 because it was released in L.A. and New York first a month before. I got Altered Beast with it. I was 9 then and yet after a few tries I beat it. Lucky the game with the console. It is now nearly 18 years old and mines still is in good shape. Shadow Dancer was a great game, albeit short. But hard especially the last stage with the rooms. And Strider rocked too. GENESIS 4-LIFE!!!
Cool, that means you have one of the first Genesis systems that doesn't have the license lockout present. I heard this model has better sound quality and better parts built than the other late models around 1992 and later.
yup. the little radio was kinda lame cus some of the sounds in genesis games wasnt really worth the surround. its one of the original consoles. i dont think ill ever part with it. proper maintenance over the years. great condition.
Video games have come a long way back since then. It was something phenomenal to have something like this in your own home. You may think it's dated, but it's obvious you must be quite young.
Stereo sound is a major thing that SEGA took advantage of with the Genesis. Listen to Sonic, you will hear the rings cling to the left speaker, then the right, also, the music has stereo effects as well. u guys are stuck with the RF wire haha, get the stereo audio video cable unless you have genesis model 1 (the one with the headphone jack, then hook it up to a receiver or some headhones).
Why would you want stereo sound when playing Genesis? The Genesis had awful sound capabilities! Does anyone remember the hilarious scream from LandStalker?
lol gamegod1 the genesis system not the core model happened to have headphone jacks if you recall. The Stereo spakers are a nice addition considering most tv's back then were mono.
I never understood Genesis's headphone jack and hardwired volume controls. If those were necessary, Nintendo would have had them. It was just a waste of money, I think.
Is there anything the Genesis can't do?
