  • Jim Carrey at :50???? Nice board tho

  • i say u put a nother stain and varnish coat on. it looks a little dry

  • I know that this question is totally irrelevant but I will ask it anyways: Since I longboard do you think I will pick up on snowboarding fast? It looks really fun. Inbox me the answer please.

  • How did you get the wood effect on the top?

  • wow, thats so cool, i wosh i could make a deck that good!

  • Comment removed

  • Eyy! Well done! I wanna built one of this. I love your longboard! =)

  • Make a vid of you riding it

  • Put some graphics on the bottom :D

  • how do you make the stripe design???

  • @rocothunders tape on the lighter parts, stain the rest

  • that is a cool board man!

  • so you only used two pieces of 1/4 birch wood and that was it?

  • im using 2 1/4 shets of baltic birch plywood gor a 32", and im 170lbs. is gthis gonna work for me do you think?

  • what kind of wood did you use?

  • does anyone know where to buy bamboo, maple, or birch plywood 1/2 and 1/4 inch thick online? i can't find anywhere. thanks.

  • Hi!Did this board acually work or did it snap?Does it have any flex?

  • Nice Video, Great looking board!!

  • how long did it take to bend

  • awesome

  • that looks awesome

  • awesome board man! just wondering though, i tried to do a similar stain design for mine but i failed so bad. i used tape to cover the areas that i didnt want to be stained but it still leaked through. how did you make yours look so brill? again man, sweet board :D

  • what does the poly do?

  • where do you get veneers

  • u should use fiberglass for exter strenghth

  • @TheMRrocker7 Don't need it... 3 years later and still holding up just fine. And I'm 220lbs.

  • @jordanlt001 o oki had to put fiberglass on mine cause i herd a crackfor the flex test but nice video

  • @jordanlt001 are you serious? 220 and only 2 layers of wood? :D hahaha I used 3 and I'm scared it will break! :S

  • aonde vc comprou as rodas

  • @jordanlt001 Fiberglass also helps make it a bit weatherproof, although you really don't need it.

I also use 3 1/8 inch pieces of wood which actually helps increase strength and flexibility if you prefer that.

    Very, VERY nice board though!

  • i would recomend using 7 layers of 8th inch maple

  • Really cool longboard man.

  • 1:15 there's a longboard in the background. Is it the snapped one?

  • @BlessdSniper nope... a perfectly good other deck.

  • can i please get some instructins for this ? :)

  • Love the home-made press:P

  • Im a 12 years old boy and i wana make my own Longboard since Israel, Longboards are way more pricy than they should be. I got a father to help me, don't wrorry, im not alone... But the point is i wana understand what do i needa do. Whats the stages, what do i needa get to make me a Longboard and also, how long should it be and what shaped for a Longboard begginer rider.

  • Wicked stain. Check out my longboard video if you want to possibly put a cheap & quick design on the bottom of your ride.

  • Where did you get the wood? Do they sell similar wood at like a home depot or lowes?

  • Do you get wheel bite?

  • dude that's FUCKING SICK, AWESOME board

  • yay for the final countdown!!!

whenever i hear this song it gets stuck in my head for the following 3 days =D

  • baltic birch or maple?

  • has it snapped yet ?

  • @xHADERZx Snapped??? I have made three more since then. All of them are in near perfect condition still. I ride them all of the time.

  • @jordanlt001 wow yours hasnt snapped.... and u didnt even use fiberglass and whatnot...

im going to use sanded ply and venere core plywood.. 3-4 sheets in total, 3 is a good size, 4 makes it nearer to 1" of total width.. but my concern is of it going to snap? i weigh around 200 so im wondering whats better if im not going to use fibreglass. thanks!

  • @Darknights7 "Sanded ply" and "Veneer Core" will not work. They will break. fiberglass wont help either. the wood in the middle of the veneer core is such a poor grade that it has no structural stability.

  • @jordanlt001 everybody uses veneer though. i stood and jumped ontop of 4 layers (unglued/uncut) of 2 ply and veneer core it totally held my weight at a reasonable height..

well i already spent $80 for all this wood so i need to experiment and find the right one. wait didnt YOU use veneer??

  • @Darknights7 No I didn't. The Filler wood in a veneer is usually a crappy grade Pine, or Luan. Either one has terrible structural properties and will weaken over time. Veneer product is used for cabinets because it does not matter whats in the middle. I still ride my boards I made 5 years ago and they are still perfect. Your veneer board will not be. I used 3m birch ply. Totally different product. Comes from the Baltic (and Russia) I manage a wood mill. I know my woods.

  • @jordanlt001 well... i bought all this wood, i have to use it anyhow. ill let you know how it goes soon if it works out or not i finished glueing the "sanded ply (2)" and one layer of veneer in the middle. The sanded ply my teacher told me is basically 3 layers, and the middle is veneer. well lets see how it goes, if it breaks in a week then i guess your right.

  • @Darknights7 Heres the other problem. It sounds like you don't even know the type of wood the outer veneers are (ie, birch, maple, pine, whatever) "Sanded Ply" doesn't mean a whole lot in the wood working industry. You have to find out what species it is. I buy birch and maple by the container (about $200,000 orders) for the factory I manage, and I know every spec on it. Make sure you know the specs on the ply before you buy.

  • @jordanlt001 Dude calm the fuck down im only a 16 year old who never took construction class until now. chill the fuck out and try to respect others so that we can learn to be as good as others.

  • @Darknights7 I don't think jordanlt001 is getting angry, he is just leting you know to research the wood before you buy it...

  • Respond to this video... You only used two 1/4" ply? usually they're a little thicker than1/2" you should probably thicken it up a little.

  • @FazziBear5689 If I make it any thicker, it would be as stiff as riding on a concrete slab... 1/2" is plenty thick for it's length.

  • @jordanlt001 Oh okay Thanks man. Im probably starting a new project today so perfect timing with your response!@

  • @jordanlt001 where do you get the clear sandpaper or clear traction thing for the deck?

  • where can I buy clear griptape? or how can I make it myself?

    thanks!

  • what kind of grip tape do you use??? i couldnt find anything on the clear griptape.

  • How much do you weigh? Does the two ply of birch flex much or is it a bit sketchy?

  • what did you use to get those clean straight lines of stain(poly)?duct tape? or..?

  • @jaydeefox2 Blue masking tape. Duct tape will rip out some of the grain of the wood.

  • what wood did you se

  • Looks awesome. How much would you say you spent in materials?

  • @cubworld If i'm remembering right, this one cost me about $23 usd. + trucks, bearings, and wheels.

  • @jordanlt001 RAD!! Thanks for the reply. Checked out your other boards and your board shrine :). TIGHT! Aloha

  • @cubworld No problem man, Sounds like ill be on your side of the world in a few days... Christmas in Hawaii!!!

  • @jordanlt001 lucky! The place to be man!

  • did you shape it after it was finished gluing or during?

  • @chilibodyboarding during gluing. if you shape it after it will not take shape as easily and it will eventually go back to almost normal.

  • O the joys of a simple peice of wood and some wheels

  • hey bro we have the same name hahaha

  • Hi, i have a question. I have a mindless maverick longboard, but I'm not really happy with the deck. Do you think that i can ''cut'' another deck out of it??

  • @coolpianoplaying Yeah, but I would not recommend it. Commercially built longboards are designed and built to certain specs. If you alter the length or shape at all, you will alter the overall stability of the deck, flex, carving ability, etc. you can't lengthen a deck, so your only option would be to go shorter. That would mean less flex and completely alter the ride.

  • hey I am a profesional longboarder in bc and I would like to design and build my own personal board but does the glue crack or break when the board flexes ? I'm asking anyone who knows

  • @The776611 Glues come in all different forms. Most epoxies have some sort of "Flex Rating" for fully cured products. I have found that certain epoxies work better than others, but have never had a glue fail yet. The wood in the deck has always failed first. I did do my research and started off with some pretty flexible glues and have actually gone to a stiffer compound.

  • and also do you no which is the best wood for a longboard/shortboard that would last the longest??

  • @snarki1010 Baltic birch is the wood of choice by most guys building a deck. Bamboo is a nice ride, but hard to work with, and hard to find bamboo that is dried to the correct moisture content. If you are making a longer deck, try maple. (When i say longer, i mean anything 4'6''+) birch will be a little soft at that length.

  • @jordanlt001 ive been makeing longboards for bout a year, ive found that 7 ply maple rules ,its sturdy and has decent flexx:)) i just made a 32 inch cruiser in woodshop and it is legit!

  • @snarki1010 maple definetly. but you have to make it a thinner board if you do

  • are they adreniline wheels however u spell it with abec 7 bearings and was your old board that snaped a kamikazi 32 bamboo board??

  • nice board! how much money did you spend on it?

  • it looks great for first time! i wish my father allows me to ride a longboard.

  • Oh and what are the dimensions?

  • Cool. How much was it? How long does the whole process take?

  • How much did that cost you to make that board and how hard was it and how long did it take. Is it like a regular board, like as fast or even quicker than the rest get back to me please ASAP Joey_laflamme@homail.com

  • do you glue the pieces together first, and then add the curve later, or at the same time?

  • dude nice !!!! you should make more as a hobbie and sell them lol

  • why no grip tape

  • @ARMYSTRENGTHxbl ... if you actually took the time to watch the whole movie you would notice that it is clear grip tape. Seriously, watch before you comment.

  • i know this vid is almost a year old , but next time try 7-9 layers of hard rock maple veneer , you will have you flexibility,

check out roarokit's youtube vids on how to thay have an AMAZING simple process for making your own boards long and standard!

  • That is soooooooo sick.

  • 3 layers of 3MM birch(cherry, maple, mohogony works well too) with 19lb fiberglass in between. laminated with epoxy resin works great

  • That actually looks like a good way to make a curve in the board.

I'm building a solid ribbed longboard press for the concave and I was stressing about how I could add a curve to it. What kind of wood is that? Baltic Birch?

  • ive been making longboards for a while now, i just use the natural one piece on wood, is it really necessary to go through the troubles on ply-wood?

  • @sammyjoe50 Yes and I'll tell you why. Natural one piece wood has a tendency to warp, crack, check, even when sealed. Once lumber is milled and air dried, it is typically around 12-14% moisture content. When kiln dried, about 8-9%. The problem with that is some climates (such as mine) are as dry as 6%. By using ply that alternates grain direction, all of the layers help keep it stable my fighting against each other. It adds strength to the overall product, and allows for more flex as well.

  • is it good for down hill carving?

  • @spicyXcurry Not as good as some of my other boards have been. More of a commuter board.

  • looks pretty decent man. i'm about to embark on my own journey of creating a longboard. hopefully it turns out at least this good. i'd be happy.

  • try to watch out for wheelbite. But still awesome board i only have an layback longboards happy hour 38 but its stil a pretty nice longboard

  • @deathboyz2 Yeah, the wheelbite has already been an issue with this deck, and have since added wheel wells to it. All of my newer ones are good...

  • Nice Board!

  • is there any concave to the board? i see the shape but from side to side is there any concave?

  • @audittt2010 Not on this deck, I did make a few newer ones that are though...

  • how flexy is it?

  • how long did you keep the weights on it to curve it

  • @sk8skiboard3 Too long. I wish I had taken them off sooner. I left these on for close to 36 hours. I should have used less weight.

  • MAAAAAN tell me ALL the videos that you watched to make this longboard, becose i don't have money to buy one (¬¬) so i want to try make one

  • how did you make your shape?

  • i would have done alittle less camber rounded out the nose abit more because if you hit that on a curb itll crack and maybe add a concave other than that great job (Y)

  • Really Nice ! How do you do different stripes on the board ? Thanks

  • nice vid !

  • dude thats sweet does that mold work for a dervish type board to

    is it good for sliding

  • how much was it to make this?

  • hey man i like ur video looks like u know hwat ur doing i also have been building longboards but have been having a few problems i was wondering if we could talk and maybe u could gimmi a few pointers as far as types of wood and glues go. i would really appreiate it. maybe u could add me on facebook if u have 1 and we could talk about it

  • @MrFrongo Yeah man, no problem. Just message me your questions.

  • dude, that thing is NICE

  • whereh can i get clear grip tape

  • @sk8erguy173 ??? I got it at some hole in the wall skate shop... Try online.

  • @sk8erguy173 or you can buy a clear sand and apply some polyurethane varnish on the top and sprinkle the sand on the for clear grip.

  • @gatorboy1444 BEAR coatings also makes an additive that looks like crack (cocaine) but then swells as the solvents are drying out of the polyurethane to create a sand like surface. Much cheaper and easier to find than clear sand around here.

  • ill have to try that.

  • how many sheets o f ply wood did u use

  • Is that like Transparent Grip tape? That board is EXACTLY like what I was looking to make, It looks wonderful.

  • SORT LONGBOARD

  • @blue6023 ? please elaborate....

  • @blue6023 ur false!

  • thats sick

  • what kindof wood did you use?

  • @BlackOpsSnipa Baltic Birch

  • how can any one hate this song its the count down lol and what a fine board

  • @jjjabberjaws Thank you my friend...

  • Sweet song, and sweet board man!

    Congrats!

  • if you can, try to make wheel wells in the back

  • for a first time :/.... ITS AWESOME

  • nice work.

im looking into building my own board as well. i was thinking about steaming the wood to create the curvature, but i liked how you did it. would you recommend doing it that way? or any other way?

  • @MrLoganMohr Steaming the wood will add a lot of moisture to it and cause the factory glue in the Birch you buy to fail. You only steam solid wood, not ply. You use ply because it is thin enough to bend without steaming. My advice, stay away from the steam, or your board may blow up a month later when it dries out.

  • gay song, awesome longboard.

  • @flabson777 Anybody who can't appreciate some kick ass 80's music such as Europe must be Gay as well. Thanks for the compliment on the board though...

  • errors??? wtf be happy looks damn good!

  • How do you make the stripes on it?

  • that is so cool!!!!!

  • Nice man, looks good...

  • Dammit dude, I hate this song!

  • @montyburnes14 So mute it.

  • What color stain?

  • Its not required but if you fiberglass your board might last a little longer and you might even get a little bit more spring

  • i have that poster at 2:26 it says 1 one thousand 2 one thousand

  • How long did you leave it in the press?

Also how long is the board?

  • dumb questions where would you buy the wood becaus ei know they don't sell it at like a home depot?

  • im making one as well.... how long did you leave it bent with the press?

  • put longer trucks on and it will be more stable

  • @infamousvillany Put the trucks on the correct way and it will be more stable!

@ 1:28 you can see the king pin on the outside of the axle.

  • @nightwraithe84 longboard trucks. reverse kingpin. they are on right.

  • @nightwraithe84 longboard trucks. reverse kingpin. they are on right.

  • @nightwraithe84 longboard trucks. reverse kingpin. they are on right.

  • @nightwraithe84 longboard trucks. reverse kingpin. they are on right.

  • wow nice board dude :)

  • wow it is sort of like a hybrid between dervish and pintail

  • if you weigh about 150 how many plys do you need

  • @Th3KingOfVjj i think seven is standard for someone who weighs 150

  • i want to make a medium flex board i am 200 pounds how many sheets of birch and how many plys should the birch be

  • @alexchaptown my friends and i have a longboard business goin on. we press 4 plys of 1/8" birch and our boy who is about 230 rides it. shaped like a loaded vanguard. he gets flex but not too much so at 200lbs 4 ply 1/8" with about 1/2' concave should be nice.

  • Respond to this video...

  • @cbpnunn ?

  • @jordanlt001 haha

  • @jordanlt001 haha i dont know what happened there. i guess i wanted to say something but never did. sorry about that. but side note, i maka boards as well and this one looks real nice. good job cutting it out, looks really good.

  • lol the finnall CountDown

  • heyy mann thats an awsome first job i want to make one but im still not quite sure how to do you glue the two peices of wood together and then shape it ?

and any recomendations for what glue i should use?

    thanks mann AWSOME JOB !!!!!!!!!!

  • what how did u make it shinny? what king of stain? varnish? do i spray it with clear coat or varnish it and spray it with clear coat??

  • @03prinz he used poly glass

  • varnish then clear coat

  • nice work

  • if you move the back trucks down it would help with that flex you were looking for and make the tailshorter too

  • if you gave the board a kinda... valley shape down the length, along with a lil less camber it should do beter. and if you used 1/8 in sheets instead and alternate the grain it should give you a lil more flax and pop
