People have said alot negative about Segal, and possibly he like many have at one time or another rubbed certain people the wrong way, but in the end he was/is a skilled martial artist. Nothing fake about that. Anyone who devotes years of their life to it has my respect for that alone whether I like them personally or not. Is to be respected.
Er....the guy thinks he's 'sort of a god'. He's words. he thinks he's a god. Check out some interviews done on him. It's ridiculous. Yes, he can kick some ass. But man, he's a total fruit-loop with a MASSIVE ego. No humility at all. You want to look up to that, be my guest.
There is no way he can pull this off in MMA. Plus these guys are purposely flopping like this. There is no genuine resistance at all, it looks all staged.
...Maybe because Aikido is banned in most MMA 'cause of its brutality, when used to its full extent. This is an Aikido demonstration, not a real fight :|
@MyMemorableScenes Its funny as hell when people make comments about them purposely throwing themselves and have never even been to a aikido dojo and have a DAN grade do these techniques on them. Its probably cause they know both limbs will be broken when the leave because they resisted and cant sue cause they would have signed a waivier!
Japanese martial arts assume that there are multiple opponents, hence everythings done in the spirit of ikken hisatsu. Shooting would not be an effective attack in that kind of situation it would be an act of suicidal stupidity. There's a reason why in 800 years of Jujutsu with 1200 schools ne waza was only ever a minor area of study.
I'm talking one on one. It's common sense you don't attack an opponent w your hands in the air and neck and head wide open. Most martial art styles will work against a clueless opponent. This is obviously a controlled situation for show. He doesn't have to worry about strikes or of course these guys putting up a real fight. I'm not saying it's useless or no skill is involved. But a world class wrestler w good striking and common sense one on one wouldn't be flopping around like a bozo.
It's pointless talking one on one, Aikido isn't one on one. What makes sense 1v1 doesn't always make sense in many v 1 or many v many. Ukes head and neck aren't wide open actually, their hands are in their centre which means any attack has to pass through their guard, it doesn't take much to parry the one single punch people occasionally manage to get off before they end up being taken down. Think of it as shooting for the upper body instead of the lower, because bascially that's what it is.
@pkpaulkersey It's not that he is doing a somersault each time. In Aikido you learn to protect yourself as the attacker. What the attacker is actually doing is called a high fall. This protects his wrist from dislocation. I can see how it might seem staged, but as an Aikido practitioner, I can tell you that it is "staged" so that that attack is learned and the person being attacked does the technique without hurting his partner. Very cool martial art! Takes 10 + years for a BLK Belt unlike TKD.
Steven Segal was at a bar once and someone looked at him sideways, so he beat him to death with his wife, then raped and killed the wife, then beat everyone else in the bar to death!. Then he rocked out on his guitar and moonwalked out, all without blinking once or changing his facial expression.
true, but if they didn't jump and roll with it, they could get their joints broken, their whole body weight is going into it. But you know it's a routine, not actual combat. Just want to show off skill, but what I don't like about aikido is on the irimi throw they don't block the elbow, just grab the hand and that's not really practical the guy is just going to rip it back unless you block the elbow and force him to swing around.
My point was that there are guys posting that actually think this is what these throws look like for real.
I've trained martial arts, boxed, kick boxed and wrestled for over 30 years. I've seen these throws, executed similar throws and been the victim of them on several occasions throughout my life.
Real throws look quite brutal not fluid and hurt like hell.
Este man en una época fué bueno y este video lo demuestra. Pero luego se vendió al comercialismo y miren en lo que ha quedado, "un saco de papas" ridículo, que hasta se cree la reencarnación de un Lamah!
BTW If you can't find the music, there's a site called "vidtomp3" which allows you to rip mp3s from YT. That's how I got it. Its going to be the same crappy quality as it is in the vid, but at least you'll have it.
regarding the music, my sources tell me it was a piece specifically created for the film and it made by one of seagal sensei's students who was into music production.
Greetings, I also don't know where this music is from, but if I may make a suggestion. This music has a very taiko drum sound to it. If you like this music you could check out your local music store or Amazon etc, and japanese taiko music. The most famous group is called Kodo, but there are many taiko groups out there. Sorry I can't help you get that music but at least you might find something similar. Good luck.
hey kungfu2u2, the point is not the power of the throw...the technque basically forces the opponent to follow up by throwing himself...or else he will have a broken bone
As a cop, I can attest to the usefulness of Akido. I study it, some of it is taught at academy and you have to study it to understand the usefullness of it.
Komissar, it's useless to argue with these Aikita-dogss because they just get evasive like Eric Cartman, or any other lunatic making excuses to preserve their little fantasies. This is what I call "The Seagal Zone," where the rules of logic and reason don't apply; they back these up with little anecdotes that have absolutely NO credibility or relevance. It just proves that Aikita is a CULT, and Seagal is a guru who can do no wrong in their fucked-up minds-- just one more fantasy-world delusions.
Logic and reason says that if people who constantly put their lives on the line in real life situations study something, there might be a reason for it.
if that person didnt know how to take the technique he would be put in traction for a couple of months. if you dont believe it i suggest you go to a aikido dojo and experiece it first hand. and besides the wwe in a soap oprah for men, and like in aikido they "rehearse" what they do before you see in on tv
u have no idea what you're talkin about... i do kempo and aikido together and i gotta tell you if i didn't do aikido i wouldn feel safe in the streets at all.its all about the energy the try to use against you,u turn it into your benefit...
this bull shit is so scripted its not even funny put Royce Gracie out there put Renzo Gracie, Ken Shamrock, or Fedor Emelianenko out there and theyd chew his ass up. this crap is for show and people who watch 2 many martial arts movies. if u really want 2 fight or "defend your self" go 4 Sambo, straight up Jiu-Jitsu, or straight up Judo
I am so upset!! I am a 7th dan akido practioner and an MMA competitor, I have dismantled several champion fighters with my Segal like powers! My Chi was strong, My fireballs are feirce and my Kiai breaks windows and shatters eardrums! Now if you will excuse me Segal, Santa and the easter bunny are meeting Van Dame and Lorenzo Lamas for lunch. Retards.
steven seagal çok büyük aikido ustasıdır 7.dan olmak shihan kendisi dünya onun sayesinde aikido tanıdı ve sevdi 1988 nıco filimi onun aikidoyu sevdirdiği zamandır .
Sensai Segal is superior than most that claim to be great martial artists, especially on these boards. He is a great martial arts MASTER even though his style may not be to everyones liking. For someone 6'7 at his level, nobody in their right mind would purposely want to talk shit (to his face) unless they had a serious mental problem.
You know, I will listen to any argument for Aikido in real-life combat situations, sports or otherwise. I have a very open mind when it comes to martial arts, using the good and neglecting the bad aspects of any art. But it pisses me off when people just give absolutely BULLSHIT excuses for why no practitioner of Aikido (forgot the term, sorry) fights in any of the MMA fighting leagues.
The Gracies did everything they could to promote BJJ and everyone saw its effectiveness (as well as flaws admittedly) and so sought to learn it. Wouldn't Aikido want the same thing, to promote its effectiveness? I know it's not JUST about fighting (as a lot of martial arts are) but come on! What's the point of spending so much time and money on something if in real life you still get your ass kicked?
It also pisses me off when people say the Aikido practitioner will own anybody in the ring/octagon and says MMA's are just a bunch of brutes with no technique. Are you kidding me? MMA's have to learn all kinds of techniques. Conditioning is just part of the sport. Doesn't mean they ONLY use their muscle. There's a lot of thinking and strategy that goes into it. Who the fuck are you to say who's the idiot when you won't even fight them?
The bottom line is I am not saying Aikido is useless but you Aikido promoters are making it very easy for people to say it's so. It's all a bunch of hypothetical arguments for you guys. Nothing you say holds water in terms of how it would stand against someone trained in MMA. Do you guys just want Aikido to be practiced by a bunch of esoteric elites? ANSWER people why no one Aikido practitioner has come to prominence in competitive MMA.
No disrespect intended, & I know you'll most likely ridicule my answer (& can't blame u the way some answer u). Have 40 yrs Aikido & many yrs other MAs, incl full-contact competition so pls give my words a little credibility & consideration(I hope). All MA competitions have rules & limits & so can't use all techniques- regardless of style -without serious injury or death.see next post...
Pt2- Here's where u roll eyes. In spite of how Aikido looks (will talk about that soon) the goal is to train until everything is internalized & response to attack is totally automatic. If u attack, I have no idea how I will respond and if only opening is throat then that is the target. Not '
Pt3: Eyeballs ready? Aikido truly is meant 4 ultra-serious situation & shouldn't have restrictions as in competition or sparring. Pt3: Rules & restrictions would put Aikidoist @ disadvantage or would break rules & possibly cause injury. As MAist, want total access 2 my entire repertoire. Aikido can't work with restrictions. Truly only meant 2 defend life.
This not 2 say Aikido best of all - just not able to use in serious competition w/restrictions. next...
Pt4: Sorry u asked? My take on MAs= not 1 better than others - all samey-same. It's not the art; it's the man... ALWAYS! What's seen isn't what happens - just a method of training. In fight never c techniques u c in vids. No throws or fancy techniques - NEVER HAPPEN! Impossible except 4 best of the best - top of the top. Not me - not anyone on youtube. next...
Pt5: Not happy 2 say @ my age been in fight only last yr. Not 1st time. Came out on top every time. In youth caused bad injuries to attackers; recently caused 1 much pain but no real injury. So only reason I say it works is my experience - if not work I'd admit it.Not stand on pride or loyalty. Very fancy flashy elaborate presentation breaks down on street into short chopped up techniques with knees elbows claws punches. 1 big fancy technique contains many elements. more 2 comme...
Pt6: Don't care that ppl rag on Aikido, don't care others think doesn't work; know it did 4 me.Don't care other MAs draw more ppl. Have full plate w/training. More upset by lack in-depth knowledge of responses from Aikido ppl. Low level understanding.Usually ignore naysayers & flamers. But u sound serious & ask legit questions with legit concerns. Deserve legit answers, not magical philosophy. next...
Pt7: Embarrassed 2 go on so long. & music in this vid start 2 piss me off! Said so much & yet said so little. If want 2 hear more pls enable comments on ur site. Wish I could really show what I try 2 describe. Think I might be able 2 show u what u can relate 2. Don't know where u live, suggest find really good Aikido dojo & ask some 1 2 show how breaks down, if interested 2 understand. Best 2 u from an old Aikido dog. I luv all MAs.
Sorry 2 all (except idiot flamers) 4 my long posts. Is response 2 kommisar. Hope I was able 2 give a little clarity. My sensei said - before 1 can truly understand philosphical & spirituality of Aikido, must 1st understand as fighting style. Can't choose peace if unable 2 choose violence. Love, Peace & Chicken Grease!
Saying aikido can't work with restrictions is nonsense. If all your power rests on being able to poke someone's eyes then you really aren't a proficient MA. EVERY ONE OF THESE SO-CALLED "TOO DEADLY FOR COMPETITION ARTS" LOSE TO MA'S THAT PRACTICE AND COMPETE AT FULL CONTACT WITH FULL RESISTANCE. You can witness it on YouTube.
"Saying aikido can't work with restrictions is nonsense." I'm sure u know more about Aikido than my 40 yrs of training. Ur thinking I'm proficient or not means nothing 2 me. I've trained police & military. I know my skills & ability, & used Aikido in real fights w/something @ stake. All I k& bu lie about ur age. Sorry for wasting of your time & mine.
kommisar - Sorry for confusion, didn't realize I was still logged in under BisonBooger.
My 2nd last statement should have read "All I know about you is that you judge a martial at by its use in a sport situation and that you lie about your age". Aikido doesn't need defending.
I put 104 for my age because I didn't want to put ANY age but I had to so I figured I might as well go the distance.
If a fighting style is useless in the ring how's it going to be useful on the street? You think "sports" fighters can't attack pressure points, kick to the groin, bite, etc.? Those "deadly" techniques can't be practiced full-on in training and are easy to perform anyway, so how's a guy who can't even block a punch going to fare when he gets his eyes poked too?
We just have to agree to disagree. I've used Aikido in the street and KNOW it works. You don't do Aikido and only THINK that a martial art can only be validated by using it in the ring. I have first hand empirical knowledge and you have an idea... a theory. If you personally want me to prove it to you, I'll happily get into a ring with you, no holds barred, no rules, provided you sign a waiver holding me not responsible for any injuries you sustain.
You don't need to make some complicated arrangement with me. I'm sure there's a local MMA fighting organization near you. Just go there, tell them you want to fight and they'll sign you up. There you can show everyone (or test for yourself if that's the case) how well aikido works in the ring. Hell, maybe you'll get lucky and go up against someone who knows judo.
I'd imagine most, if not all Aikido people don't see any point or reason 4 competition fighting. The ring is great if that's what ur into, but u can study every MA, b king of the ring & still get the shit kicked out of u on the street. Aikido does little 2 promote itself & has maintained a low profile from tradition. We don't want 2 attract everyone & r happy w/those who come & stay.
Oh, so after all that hard talk, you're not going to test your skills?
You can also train in self-defense for your entire life and still get your ass kicked on the street. I don't see how this makes it anymore valid than sports fighting.
What is your problem? Can't you read? I've been tested - repeatedly - sent people to the hospital and jail and came out uninjured. That's the biggest test there is. By comparison, the ring is bullshit. I never said that the way I train is more valid. You just stated my case..."train in self-defense for your entire life & still get your ass kicked on the street" I just don't feel a need to play around in the ring; I did enough in my youth. I guess I'm just not butch enough for ya.
Oh, right. I'm sure you're just some aikido badass. How exactly would someone need to go to the hospital after an aikido attack? Half the goal of aikido is to "protect the attacker from injury". Sure you're doing aikido?
N0, son, I'm no Aikido badass. I was a badass until I started Aikido and slowly stopped being one. And "protect the attacker from injury" is something you're getting from other kids here like yourself who don't have much background in Aikido or anything else. I studied and practiced a very strong style of Aikido. You respond like a kid without any expertise, so fuck off and bug someone who doesn't have solid chops in the arts. You bore.
"Protect the attacker from injury" is something I got from reading about aikido, not one of these assholes here.
Expertise? You challenged me to a fight to test your aikido skills. I told you that rather than go through some complicated arrangement, you could simply sign up for a local MMA fight where your skills could be put to the test. It was a lot simpler and yet you dodged this. There's a reason for that and it's not because you've done a bunch of fighting already.
Didn't challenge u; just gave u a chance 2 confront me directly & back up ur challenges. U don't seem 2 accept a simple thing like my having used Aikido in real fight & have already been tested more seriously that a pointless brawl. I don't want to fight. Only a fool would. U
U've avoided every question about ur experience. Tells me u don't know what a real fight is. Why don't u go out & get into a street fight 2 see if ur "skills" work in a real fight? We both know why that'll never happen. U've never been tested in a real fight so we've nothing more 2 discuss. Thought u were interested in discussion, but ur not. This is my last comment & won't answer u anymore. End of story.
I never challenged you so how could I back up my challenges...?
Pointless brawl? Well what was the point of the time you used it? That fight wasn't pointless?
"I don't want to fight." Yet you CHALLENGED me to fight.
You're full of contradictions.
I also gave you a way of "testing" your aikido skills in a fight in the same way as you would with me if I were to fight you. You said no for obvious reasons.
1 last time. When I had 2 fight, they weren't pointless brawls; just defend myself. I didn't initiate them. No need or reason 4 me 2 test Aikido - I've done it several times. Aikido doesn't need testing. U need Aikido tested, not me. No insult intended but who cares what u or others think about Aikido? I won't lose sleep over anyone thinking Aikido isn't real or effective. Why would I?
My competition days r long over. At my age, I'd b insane 2 risk injury against obviously much younger fighter 4 no reason. If I win, my chances of being injured r still very high. That's risk I'll take when I'm in serious danger. I still study & train 4 many reasons & train very hard, always have, but most reasons have nothing 2 do w/kicking ass. Self-defense is part of my training & while it's important, it's only 1 of many reasons. We have no reason 2 continue talking.
How is competitive fighting "pointless"? Doesn't make sense. You yourself admitted you used to do this too.
So let me get this straight. You don't want to fight competitively for reasons of injury risk yet you challenged me to a fight??? Doesn't make any sense.
All MA's need testing. How else will you know if they work? Don't just take your teacher's word for it.
kommisar, you've proven to me that you know more about martial arts than I've learned in 40 years of training & teaching or will ever learn. Aikido is fake. MMA is the only realistic martial art today. The only true test of a martial art is in a sports arena. Your granny can beat me with one arm tied behind her back. Without doubt, you are muy macho and have the largest penis and balls of anyone on youtube.
"If you personally want me to prove it to you, I'll happily get into a ring with you, no holds barred, no rules, provided you sign a waiver holding me not responsible for any injuries you sustain."
You're a fucking straight up liar. I can't believe you would deny something that could be proven so easily. Stupid piece of shit.
I agree with you fully oldaikidog on every aspect of the conversation its very easy to talk the talk over the internet...but i bet in person it would have been a completely different story...And your 100% right you dont have to prove to any one that AIKIDO is efective so long as you know it is
actually the meaning behind aikido is "to protect your opponent" and they mean from death. Broken arms or legs are what aikido uses. No serious punch to the head which causes death, but a throw to the ground which causes KO, or a break of limbs which makes the fight end.
thats why they jump in the air on purpose, else they would break their arms or wrists.
Oh, god, why do people even open their mouths on this subject of death by blows? Pro fighters and even bareknuckle brawlers hit each other in the head HARD all the time. How many times has someone actually died from one of those hits? If someone can survive a baseball bat hit to the head, why would they die from a measly punch?
This shit only works on compliant opponents. I've yet to see aikido in a street situation where the guy isn't going to fly and fall on his own free will.
As for talking hard, I told you I'll be happy to back it up - but it has to be a no rules fight. We get in a ring without rules and its 50/50 as to who walks away.I've never claimed Aikido is the best fighting style - right? Anyone stupid enough to claim that is full of shit. Have you been tested outside the ring? Ever have your life depend on our skills & abilities? I have. I'm not saying I can't lose, but I am an extremely experienced old mf.
Yes, and I told you you can find your local MMA organization and ask them to sign you up for a fight. As for "no rules", give me a breka. Every one of aikido's techniques that I've EVER seen are 100% legal in an MMA ring. You really that scared to fight unless you can kick in the balls? Quit dodging and follow through with your challenge!
Anyway, I'm tired of ur inability 2 comprehend things that r not within the narrow view u have. It's becoming boring. U don't have an open mind like u said. Ur limited perspective on martial arts makes it useless 2 discuss anything. If ur ever in Canada, let me know & I can show u how Aikido is practical. But u don't seem 2 understand that very few of the millions of MA's get in the ring. Or, if u want 2 test me, u know my terms.
I asked why aikido wasn't used in the ring and you've given me non-answers. We know the reason why: Because it doesn't work. Even my instructor has studied aikido a little and he says it doesn't work in the ring. Every aikido move I've seen is allowed in the ring so there's really no excuses. Why don't you just admit it's only good with compliant attackers (other aikido students)?
whether it's practice or not the Uki is never faking... they have to go in the directions that they are thrown or else... u will get seriously hurt u must learn to throw and b thrown one of the first steps are to learn how to fall
have been on the mat with some of the best including Seagal and can say without question his technique is outstanding. True in practice aikido can look very fake especially when the uki's are diving into their breakfalls, in Seagal's dojo they do not.
hahahahahaha! i laugh at those comments who says aikido isn't serious buisness, have you even tried to face a 7th dan sensei plus aikido is not competing in any competition not like those other martial arts who like to show off their fake moves
it's iggnorant and senseless for all those comparing martial arts and fighting over which martial art is better and for those who praise UFC and claim it actually is ultimate well MMA isn't a true art, you don't master anything except getting muscular and using strength without technique, it is effective SOMETIMES depending on the user but it defeats all purpose of martial arts and ruins all study corresponding with it, it's not about bragging rights.
wht u kidding me, if any 7th degree dan was in the ufc they would donimate anyone just because of their understanding of martial arts and experience theyd easily beat any ufc blackbelt who practices takedowns and submissions.
Retards
When men fight for real the risk of injury and death is very high. That is why there is training forms and etiquettes. Rules in competition etc...As long as you understand these etiquettes and assumptions and training forms you can see the front (omote) and back (ura), good/bad if you like, of every practice.
I would suggest to get a black belt in both arts before making comparison.
People stay with Aikido because they are afraid of the unknown. Aikido is a comfort zone of people who agree with one another. To the amateur eye it is more fluid and beautiful than some arts but this is a superficial observation. Beneath all this is an art to be approached with discernment.
cause Segal is nothing more than a cocky prick who let his MOVIES get to his head. He disrespected his body guard and got the FU#@ CHOKED OUT BY A REAL FIGHTER
Cause Segal is nothing but an arrogant prick who let HIS MOVIES GET TO HIS HEAD.A REAL FIGHTER had to bring him back down to earth. AIKIDO WHAT A FU$@EN JOKE
AND BYE THE WAY SEGAL GOT CHOKED UNCONCIOUS BY HIS BODYGUARD WHO IS ONLY A BLUE BELT IN BJJ WHICH IS 1 STEP UP FROM A WHITE BELT lololololololololololololololololololo
wher the FU#@ are these "SELF PROCLAIMED" grand masters. YOU REALLY NEED TO STOP WATCHING JET LI MOVIES YOU MA GUYS ARE ALL JOKES WITH ABSOLUTELY NO FUC$#@ PROOF UR STYLES WILL EVER WORK IN THE REAL WORLD. KEEP POINT SPARRING and watching JACKIE CHAN MOVIES
mexkingpin619 are you SERIOUS yea im sure traditional martial arts work which is why you see it in REAL LIFE EVENTS WAIT YOU DONT SEE IT CAUSE ITS ALL BULLSH$@ get a life you delusional TOOL
The problem with the words of the masters is how they are used. I have no doubt Jesus words were very pleasant, but used politically they can cause wars etc Similarily, zen sayings can be used in all the wrong ways, and often are by Aikidoka.
I re-read your moral lesson about martial arts and it was classic Aikido babble (this is what I was critisising). I gave you the facts about Aikidoka- 90% of the time they will resort to some zen master monologue bull in defence of thier art. If you are talking about physical tecnique i.e knife defence thats another story. But, again, Aikido knife defence is only OK.
In retrospect aikido is a beautiful and effective martial art that can stand on its on two feet without me defending it. However, the babble you speak of was spoken by not only Morihei Ueshiba, but also by Jigoro Kano and Gichen Funakoshi as well as many other former and contemporary masters. I respect all of their teachings because they were not only words for them, but the center of their lives. They showed respect to each others martial arts as we all should.
I do not really call the opressive, preachy rubbish that Aikidoka like yourself spout "Morals". You elevate yourself too much YRivera. I supposed we shouldn't be surprised; zealots and preachers have been on the same trip since haute antiquity.
Perhaps, you should reread what I wrote. I simply suggested you actually learn something about the art and people you a criticising. I didn't know suggesting you actually base what you say on facts was opressive or preachy. Of course, you could simply not read what I write if it oppresses you, but I guess you like it.
It is sad that Aikidoka, being so useless at fighting and most other activites, will 99% of the time resort to some trite moral lesson about humility and spirituality, to get their "hit" of superiority.
Please excuse me! I thought morality was something important. It seems you are on the insult aikido and aikidoka band wagon also. Perhaps, you should give it a try. Maybe, if you met some aikidoka and practiced some aikido you would have a different opinion. Aikido is practiced by many NYPD officers, who have supported its effectiveness as a martial art. cont...
I'll be the first to admit that it does not make a very good sport martial art because of the nature of the techniques and philosophy, but if someone was coming at you with a knife, trust me, you would want aikido's evasion and arm grappling techniques in your arsenal. I know because I have used it! I don't know what you study, but I have no desire or see the need to insult it. We should all be learning from one another. We should use our martial knowledge to make the world a better place.
Aikido and Wing Dung (tsung chung whatever...) are the worst martial arts. It's cool if you want to train in pretty, physically challenging arts like Wushu and Capioera. They make no claims to be great for fighting.
You run into problems with trash like Aikido and Wing Dung, which people actually believe work. Stop spreading the lies. This crap was disproved in 1994 with the first UFC.
Those of you who doubt Aikido's effectiveness should read the article Aikido Works by Carlo Fargnoli, a NYPD officer, who has used Aikido techniques on several occasions to subdue criminals. It's on-line.
In addition, while I enjoy watching UFC matches they are not street fights. There is a big difference between tossing someone in the ring and tossing someone onto pavement.
Yes, the people fighting in the UFC are all highly skilled fighters thus they are much harder to 'toss' than some drunk person on the street. Any throw or strike landed in the UFC is like landing 20 on a normal person.
It's obvious you missed the classes in humility at your dojo. Your attitude and choice of words shows that you do not know the true meaning and purpose of the martial arts. You need to downplay other martial arts and artists in order to feel superior/strong, which shows your weakness as a person. cont...
Perhaps, you have some skill, but you don't have mental and spiritual control of yourself. You're the kind of person, who will one day hurt someone or yourself trying to prove a needless point. If I was your teacher I'd be very disappointed in you, but lucky for you everything in the world is susceptible to change, so maybe one day you'll learn better.
UFC is filled with amateur fighters compared to the martial arts world. i respect those fighters but the world doesnt see them as REAL competitors. all UFC is BJJ & BJJ is a joke when u face a real martial art master. anyone can avoid the ground game, if trained properly, once that happens u BJJ guys are fucked. all u guys have is the ground game & its ur strong point but at the same time its ur weakest point.
"Aikido is for faggots" If I was your teacher or sensi I would be ashmed of you. Also I saw your video, nice techinque but what happens if there are more then one attacker. But otherwise nice ground work. Aikido also teaches ground work.
no im just really smart, your just really stupid. think about it smartass if aikido really sucked why would government officials practice it? why did the mighty samurai use it? do some reasearch you fag, it is effective.
Segal uses too much force. Use of force is not what Aikido is all about. Segal has the upper body strength that is much greater than the opponents he is demonstrating with. He should show the technique, not the use of force.
then ur a fool, i have studied over 10 kinds of martial arts & one of them would be aikido. i have used this art on the street & it has dominated flat out, especially since the guy i have thrown has no experience in falling properly. he falls on his neck, head, or shoulder really hard & gets stunned.
I don't know anything about martial arts, but each of his opponent in this video come dangerously close to breaking their necks and needing a cervical collar or neck brace. You can see Steven guide them from landing in the wrong place and breaking it. He could probably just as easily guide them into breaking it and becoming paralzyed.
You're right they are very close to injuring themselves everytime they get thrown, but these people are also martial artists and are trained to fall safely. One of the first things aikidokas, judokas, wrestlers etc. learn are breakfalls (called ukemi in Japanese). So no need to worry about the guys taking a beating. :)
Most of the moves in Aikido have a breaking point. As you carry out your move there is a point at which you can break something of your opponent, be it the arm or wrist or shoulder.
Seagal isn't guiding his opponents in their falls, he's following through. If he was fighting to defend himself, at the end of each move you see in this clip, he would perfom one more move to incapacitate his enemy.
Regardless what the man has done in his personal life, his training speaks for itself. When you study the life Miyamoto Musashi, if he were alive today, he would be in a nut house for being psychotic paranoia. Yet his swordsmanship is legendary. Food for thought.
Funny comments about the Gracies. What people fail to realize is that Helio adapted a hard form of Jijitsu to be competitive in a SPORTS arena. Aikido is designed from several hard styles of Jujitsu, and the paticular style that Segal has trained in is one of the hardest. He did this LONG before he was a movie star back when whites were still an oddity in Japan.
Do any of you know what your talking about? (exept for comments like Conan121?) It's easy to be critical about something you don't know how to use. Study it for a while and come back with some credibility to know what your talking about!
I keep hearing about this incident between Segal and LaBell. Does anyone know the real story(how, where, why)
this happened? I have heard rumors of Segal hurting stuntmen, but what martial artist has'nt heard of "JUDO"Gene LaBell and would be crazy enough to take him on!
On the contrary, I would say Segal is probably less lethal then he believes himself to be. Also, he has been known to hurt his stuntmen and anyone who he thinks he can beat. Which is why he really deserves a good beating a la Gene LeBelle.
I have studied aikido(1988-present)judo(1989-present)
Isshinryu karate(1972-present)and boxed in the U.S.Marine Corps(73/77)As a former police and federal corrections officer who has actually used aikido in "REAL" situations I KNOW it works! It just takes longer then the other arts to become combat effiecent.
he has a 7th dan black belt, which is waste of training when he could make movies look so much better, anyway...he is more succesfull than most of the actors
it's easy to judge someone from behind a monitor . lets see your footage of yourself ,and some credentials giving you such knowledge about akaido,
real fight!tyson punched bags for hours, while segal studied a life and death matteer of fact real world non scripted defense lifestyle, not a money driven points time out taking padded glove wearing game players ! Tyson = boxing = sport : segal =aikido +self preservation not in a ring . you decide who'd win in an real world situation! GET REAL
You mean this same Steven Seagal who, in his 30's, got choked out by the 60-something Gene LeBell is Segal's movie set, not once, but TWICE (the second time LeBell putting Segal to sleep hard such that Segal shit on himself)???
THAT Steven Segal???
Aikido is the worse of all the arts...next to Dillman's DimMak.
Just a Fucking Awesome video of Segal in his prime. The black and white footage only adds to it's coolness. Awesome techniques from a master showing just how fucking lethal Aikido can be in taking out attackers, imagine seeing that on the street, flying bodies and broken bones everywhere!!! That soundtrack kicks unholy ass.

There is no way he can pull this off in MMA. Plus these guys are purposely flopping like this. There is no genuine resistance at all, it looks all staged.

How about his opponent does a proper shoot instead of worrying about doing a fucking somersault every time.
pkpaulkersey 2 years ago
Japanese martial arts assume that there are multiple opponents, hence everythings done in the spirit of ikken hisatsu. Shooting would not be an effective attack in that kind of situation it would be an act of suicidal stupidity. There's a reason why in 800 years of Jujutsu with 1200 schools ne waza was only ever a minor area of study.
ketsan 2 years ago
I'm talking one on one. It's common sense you don't attack an opponent w your hands in the air and neck and head wide open. Most martial art styles will work against a clueless opponent. This is obviously a controlled situation for show. He doesn't have to worry about strikes or of course these guys putting up a real fight. I'm not saying it's useless or no skill is involved. But a world class wrestler w good striking and common sense one on one wouldn't be flopping around like a bozo.
pkpaulkersey 2 years ago
It's pointless talking one on one, Aikido isn't one on one. What makes sense 1v1 doesn't always make sense in many v 1 or many v many. Ukes head and neck aren't wide open actually, their hands are in their centre which means any attack has to pass through their guard, it doesn't take much to parry the one single punch people occasionally manage to get off before they end up being taken down. Think of it as shooting for the upper body instead of the lower, because bascially that's what it is.
ketsan 2 years ago
@pkpaulkersey
it doesn't even have to be a world class fighter.
Just a regular practitioner who has thought how to block, difend and how ti difend while striking.
TheDiamond123123 1 year ago

Then he rocked out on his guitar and moonwalked out, all without blinking once or changing his facial expression.

wow, that slo mo at 1:54 that guy was totally jumping in the air before he even touched him.
rrtodd95 2 years ago
true, but if they didn't jump and roll with it, they could get their joints broken, their whole body weight is going into it. But you know it's a routine, not actual combat. Just want to show off skill, but what I don't like about aikido is on the irimi throw they don't block the elbow, just grab the hand and that's not really practical the guy is just going to rip it back unless you block the elbow and force him to swing around.
JeffreyJamesLippold 2 years ago
My point was that there are guys posting that actually think this is what these throws look like for real.
I've trained martial arts, boxed, kick boxed and wrestled for over 30 years. I've seen these throws, executed similar throws and been the victim of them on several occasions throughout my life.
Real throws look quite brutal not fluid and hurt like hell.

It just proves that Aikita is a CULT, and Seagal is a guru who can do no wrong in their fucked-up minds-- just one more fantasy-world delusions.
kungfu2u2 3 years ago
Logic and reason says that if people who constantly put their lives on the line in real life situations study something, there might be a reason for it.

You know, I will listen to any argument for Aikido in real-life combat situations, sports or otherwise. I have a very open mind when it comes to martial arts, using the good and neglecting the bad aspects of any art. But it pisses me off when people just give absolutely BULLSHIT excuses for why no practitioner of Aikido (forgot the term, sorry) fights in any of the MMA fighting leagues.
kommisar 4 years ago
The Gracies did everything they could to promote BJJ and everyone saw its effectiveness (as well as flaws admittedly) and so sought to learn it. Wouldn't Aikido want the same thing, to promote its effectiveness? I know it's not JUST about fighting (as a lot of martial arts are) but come on! What's the point of spending so much time and money on something if in real life you still get your ass kicked?
kommisar 4 years ago
It also pisses me off when people say the Aikido practitioner will own anybody in the ring/octagon and says MMA's are just a bunch of brutes with no technique. Are you kidding me? MMA's have to learn all kinds of techniques. Conditioning is just part of the sport. Doesn't mean they ONLY use their muscle. There's a lot of thinking and strategy that goes into it. Who the fuck are you to say who's the idiot when you won't even fight them?
kommisar 4 years ago

Saying aikido can't work with restrictions is nonsense. If all your power rests on being able to poke someone's eyes then you really aren't a proficient MA. "Saying aikido can't work with restrictions is nonsense." I'm sure u know more about Aikido than my 40 yrs of training. Ur thinking I'm proficient or not means nothing 2 me. kommisar - Sorry for confusion, didn't realize I was still logged in under BisonBooger.
My 2nd last statement should have read "All I know about you is that you judge a martial at by its use in a sport situation and that you lie about your age". Aikido doesn't need defending.
rollingbrick 4 years ago
I put 104 for my age because I didn't want to put ANY age but I had to so I figured I might as well go the distance.
If a fighting style is useless in the ring how's it going to be useful on the street? You think "sports" fighters can't attack pressure points, kick to the groin, bite, etc.? Those "deadly" techniques can't be practiced full-on in training and are easy to perform anyway, so how's a guy who can't even block a punch going to fare when he gets his eyes poked too?
kommisar 4 years ago
We just have to agree to disagree. I've used Aikido in the street and KNOW it works. You don't do Aikido and only THINK that a martial art can only be validated by using it in the ring. I have first hand empirical knowledge and you have an idea... a theory. If you personally want me to prove it to you, I'll happily get into a ring with you, no holds barred, no rules, provided you sign a waiver holding me not responsible for any injuries you sustain.
OldAikiDog 4 years ago
You don't need to make some complicated arrangement with me. I'm sure there's a local MMA fighting organization near you. Just go there, tell them you want to fight and they'll sign you up. There you can show everyone (or test for yourself if that's the case) how well aikido works in the ring. Hell, maybe you'll get lucky and go up against someone who knows judo.
kommisar 3 years ago
I'd imagine most, if not all Aikido people don't see any point or reason 4 competition fighting. The ring is great if that's what ur into, but u can study every MA, b king of the ring & still get the shit kicked out of u on the street. Aikido does little 2 promote itself & has maintained a low profile from tradition. We don't want 2 attract everyone & r happy w/those who come & stay.
OldAikiDog 3 years ago
Oh, so after all that hard talk, you're not going to test your skills?
You can also train in self-defense for your entire life and still get your ass kicked on the street. I don't see how this makes it anymore valid than sports fighting.
kommisar 3 years ago
What is your problem? Can't you read? I've been tested - repeatedly - sent people to the hospital and jail and came out uninjured. That's the biggest test there is. By comparison, the ring is bullshit. I never said that the way I train is more valid. You just stated my case..."train in self-defense for your entire life & still get your ass kicked on the street" I just don't feel a need to play around in the ring; I did enough in my youth. I guess I'm just not butch enough for ya.
OldAikiDog 3 years ago
Oh, right. I'm sure you're just some aikido badass. How exactly would someone need to go to the hospital after an aikido attack? Half the goal of aikido is to "protect the attacker from injury". Sure you're doing aikido?
kommisar 3 years ago
N0, son, I'm no Aikido badass. I was a badass until I started Aikido and slowly stopped being one. And "protect the attacker from injury" is something you're getting from other kids here like yourself who don't have much background in Aikido or anything else. I studied and practiced a very strong style of Aikido. You respond like a kid without any expertise, so fuck off and bug someone who doesn't have solid chops in the arts. You bore.
OldAikiDog 3 years ago
"Protect the attacker from injury" is something I got from reading about aikido, not one of these assholes here.
Expertise? You challenged me to a fight to test your aikido skills. I told you that rather than go through some complicated arrangement, you could simply sign up for a local MMA fight where your skills could be put to the test. It was a lot simpler and yet you dodged this. There's a reason for that and it's not because you've done a bunch of fighting already.
kommisar 3 years ago
Didn't challenge u; just gave u a chance 2 confront me directly & back up ur challenges. U don't seem 2 accept a simple thing like my having used Aikido in real fight & have already been tested more seriously that a pointless brawl. I don't want to fight. Only a fool would. U
OldAikiDog 3 years ago
U've avoided every question about ur experience. Tells me u don't know what a real fight is. Why don't u go out & get into a street fight 2 see if ur "skills" work in a real fight? We both know why that'll never happen. U've never been tested in a real fight so we've nothing more 2 discuss. Thought u were interested in discussion, but ur not. This is my last comment & won't answer u anymore. End of story.
OldAikiDog 3 years ago
What questions? You haven't asked any.
I'm not going to pick a "pointless" street fight because street fights aren't the same as honorable duels. You should know that.
And this isn't a question of MY skills being tested in a real fight. This is a matter of AIKIDO being tested.
kommisar 3 years ago
I never challenged you so how could I back up my challenges...?
Pointless brawl? Well what was the point of the time you used it? That fight wasn't pointless?
"I don't want to fight." Yet you CHALLENGED me to fight.
You're full of contradictions.
I also gave you a way of "testing" your aikido skills in a fight in the same way as you would with me if I were to fight you. You said no for obvious reasons.
kommisar 3 years ago
1 last time. When I had 2 fight, they weren't pointless brawls; just defend myself. I didn't initiate them. No need or reason 4 me 2 test Aikido - I've done it several times. Aikido doesn't need testing. U need Aikido tested, not me. No insult intended but who cares what u or others think about Aikido? I won't lose sleep over anyone thinking Aikido isn't real or effective. Why would I?
OldAikiDog 3 years ago
My competition days r long over. At my age, I'd b insane 2 risk injury against obviously much younger fighter 4 no reason. If I win, my chances of being injured r still very high. That's risk I'll take when I'm in serious danger. I still study & train 4 many reasons & train very hard, always have, but most reasons have nothing 2 do w/kicking ass. Self-defense is part of my training & while it's important, it's only 1 of many reasons. We have no reason 2 continue talking.
OldAikiDog 3 years ago
How is competitive fighting "pointless"? Doesn't make sense. You yourself admitted you used to do this too.
So let me get this straight. You don't want to fight competitively for reasons of injury risk yet you challenged me to a fight??? Doesn't make any sense.
All MA's need testing. How else will you know if they work? Don't just take your teacher's word for it.
kommisar 3 years ago
To me, competitive fighting is pointless.
I did lots of things that I don't do anymore.
I did not challenge you to a fight.
Aikido has been tested & is used by many military & police forces.
I've successfully used Aikido in fights & know it's effective.
I don't just take my teacher's word, although I've never had reason 2 ever doubt him. His integrity is flawless.
We'll have no further contact. You don't believe the truth & more or less called me a liar. So I've no reason 2 continue.
OldAikiDog 3 years ago
And to bring this to a close...
kommisar, you've proven to me that you know more about martial arts than I've learned in 40 years of training & teaching or will ever learn. Aikido is fake. MMA is the only realistic martial art today. The only true test of a martial art is in a sports arena. Your granny can beat me with one arm tied behind her back. Without doubt, you are muy macho and have the largest penis and balls of anyone on youtube.

actually the meaning behind aikido is "to protect your opponent" and they mean from death. Broken arms or legs are what aikido uses. No serious punch to the head which causes death, but a throw to the ground which causes KO, or a break of limbs which makes the fight end.
thats why they jump in the air on purpose, else they would break their arms or wrists.

lordtains 3 years ago

OldAikiDog 3 years ago

OldAikiDog 3 years ago
I asked why aikido wasn't used in the ring and you've given me non-answers. We know the reason why: Because it doesn't work. Even my instructor has studied aikido a little and he says it doesn't work in the ring. Every aikido move I've seen is allowed in the ring so there's really no excuses. Why don't you just admit it's only good with compliant attackers (other aikido students)?
kommisar 3 years ago
whether it's practice or not the Uki is never faking... they have to go in the directions that they are thrown or else... u will get seriously hurt u must learn to throw and b thrown one of the first steps are to learn how to fall
moonstruckkoala 4 years ago
have been on the mat with some of the best including Seagal and can say without question his technique is outstanding. True in practice aikido can look very fake especially when the uki's are diving into their breakfalls, in Seagal's dojo they do not.

hahahahahaha! i laugh at those comments who says aikido isn't serious buisness, have you even tried to face a 7th dan sensei plus aikido is not competing in any competition not like those other martial arts who like to show off their fake moves
jerome4429762 4 years ago
it's iggnorant and senseless for all those comparing martial arts and fighting over which martial art is better and for those who praise UFC and claim it actually is ultimate well MMA isn't a true art, you don't master anything except getting muscular and using strength without technique, it is effective SOMETIMES depending on the user but it defeats all purpose of martial arts and ruins all study corresponding with it, it's not about bragging rights.

Akaido would last 2 seconds in the UFC. Especially if practiced by a fat, out of shape has been like Segall. It is more dancing than fighting.

Apparently you've never heard of the Gracie family.. Renzo... etc.. They practice Gracie Jiujitsu and Aikido... it's very useful in MMA competition

wht u kidding me, if any 7th degree dan was in the ufc they would donimate anyone just because of their understanding of martial arts and experience theyd easily beat any ufc blackbelt who practices takedowns and submissions.

Wishing you all well.

People stay with Aikido because they are afraid of the unknown. Aikido is a comfort zone of people who agree with one another. To the amateur eye it is more fluid and beautiful than some arts but this is a superficial observation. Beneath all this is an art to be approached with discernment.

The problem with the words of the masters is how they are used. I have no doubt Jesus words were very pleasant, but used politically they can cause wars etc Similarily, zen sayings can be used in all the wrong ways, and often are by Aikidoka.
pabpabmogo 5 years ago
I re-read your moral lesson about martial arts and it was classic Aikido babble (this is what I was critisising). I gave you the facts about Aikidoka- 90% of the time they will resort to some zen master monologue bull in defence of thier art. If you are talking about physical tecnique i.e knife defence thats another story. But, again, Aikido knife defence is only OK.
pabpabmogo 5 years ago
In retrospect aikido is a beautiful and effective martial art that can stand on its on two feet without me defending it. However, the babble you speak of was spoken by not only Morihei Ueshiba, but also by Jigoro Kano and Gichen Funakoshi as well as many other former and contemporary masters. I respect all of their teachings because they were not only words for them, but the center of their lives. They showed respect to each others martial arts as we all should.
YRivera1 5 years ago
I do not really call the opressive, preachy rubbish that Aikidoka like yourself spout "Morals". You elevate yourself too much YRivera. I supposed we shouldn't be surprised; zealots and preachers have been on the same trip since haute antiquity.
pabpabmogo 5 years ago
Perhaps, you should reread what I wrote. I simply suggested you actually learn something about the art and people you a criticising. I didn't know suggesting you actually base what you say on facts was opressive or preachy. Of course, you could simply not read what I write if it oppresses you, but I guess you like it.
YRivera1 5 years ago
It is sad that Aikidoka, being so useless at fighting and most other activites, will 99% of the time resort to some trite moral lesson about humility and spirituality, to get their "hit" of superiority.
pabpabmogo 5 years ago
Please excuse me! I thought morality was something important. It seems you are on the insult aikido and aikidoka band wagon also. Perhaps, you should give it a try. Maybe, if you met some aikidoka and practiced some aikido you would have a different opinion. Aikido is practiced by many NYPD officers, who have supported its effectiveness as a martial art. cont...
YRivera1 5 years ago
I'll be the first to admit that it does not make a very good sport martial art because of the nature of the techniques and philosophy, but if someone was coming at you with a knife, trust me, you would want aikido's evasion and arm grappling techniques in your arsenal. I know because I have used it! I don't know what you study, but I have no desire or see the need to insult it. We should all be learning from one another. We should use our martial knowledge to make the world a better place.
YRivera1 5 years ago
Aikido and Wing Dung (tsung chung whatever...) are the worst martial arts. It's cool if you want to train in pretty, physically challenging arts like Wushu and Capioera. They make no claims to be great for fighting.
You run into problems with trash like Aikido and Wing Dung, which people actually believe work. Stop spreading the lies. This crap was disproved in 1994 with the first UFC.
xkidmidnightx 5 years ago
Those of you who doubt Aikido's effectiveness should read the article Aikido Works by Carlo Fargnoli, a NYPD officer, who has used Aikido techniques on several occasions to subdue criminals. It's on-line.
In addition, while I enjoy watching UFC matches they are not street fights. There is a big difference between tossing someone in the ring and tossing someone onto pavement.
YRivera1 5 years ago
Yes, the people fighting in the UFC are all highly skilled fighters thus they are much harder to 'toss' than some drunk person on the street. Any throw or strike landed in the UFC is like landing 20 on a normal person.
Aikido is for faggots.
xkidmidnightx 5 years ago
Part 1
It's obvious you missed the classes in humility at your dojo. Your attitude and choice of words shows that you do not know the true meaning and purpose of the martial arts. You need to downplay other martial arts and artists in order to feel superior/strong, which shows your weakness as a person. cont...
YRivera1 5 years ago
Part 2
Perhaps, you have some skill, but you don't have mental and spiritual control of yourself. You're the kind of person, who will one day hurt someone or yourself trying to prove a needless point. If I was your teacher I'd be very disappointed in you, but lucky for you everything in the world is susceptible to change, so maybe one day you'll learn better.
YRivera1 5 years ago
UFC is filled with amateur fighters compared to the martial arts world. i respect those fighters but the world doesnt see them as REAL competitors. all UFC is BJJ & BJJ is a joke when u face a real martial art master. anyone can avoid the ground game, if trained properly, once that happens u BJJ guys are fucked. all u guys have is the ground game & its ur strong point but at the same time its ur weakest point.
mexkingpin619 5 years ago
"Aikido is for faggots" If I was your teacher or sensi I would be ashmed of you. Also I saw your video, nice techinque but what happens if there are more then one attacker. But otherwise nice ground work. Aikido also teaches ground work.

mexkingpin619 5 years ago
Segal uses too much force. Use of force is not what Aikido is all about. Segal has the upper body strength that is much greater than the opponents he is demonstrating with. He should show the technique, not the use of force.

Jean LaBell made this stilly fruit piss himself. What a homo. Anyone that thinks this crap works is delusional.
xkidmidnightx 5 years ago
then ur a fool, i have studied over 10 kinds of martial arts & one of them would be aikido. i have used this art on the street & it has dominated flat out, especially since the guy i have thrown has no experience in falling properly. he falls on his neck, head, or shoulder really hard & gets stunned.
mexkingpin619 5 years ago
The next art you study should be proper grammar.
xkidmidnightx 5 years ago
Don't forget, he's throwing people who know how to be thrown. They probably also know roughly what to expect and therefore fall accordingly.
sirReginaldFartsalot 5 years ago
I don't know anything about martial arts, but each of his opponent in this video come dangerously close to breaking their necks and needing a cervical collar or neck brace. You can see Steven guide them from landing in the wrong place and breaking it. He could probably just as easily guide them into breaking it and becoming paralzyed.
johnkick2 5 years ago
You're right they are very close to injuring themselves everytime they get thrown, but these people are also martial artists and are trained to fall safely. One of the first things aikidokas, judokas, wrestlers etc. learn are breakfalls (called ukemi in Japanese). So no need to worry about the guys taking a beating. :)
TheSilence1 5 years ago
Most of the moves in Aikido have a breaking point. As you carry out your move there is a point at which you can break something of your opponent, be it the arm or wrist or shoulder.
Seagal isn't guiding his opponents in their falls, he's following through. If he was fighting to defend himself, at the end of each move you see in this clip, he would perfom one more move to incapacitate his enemy.

Segal is still a moron and he soiled his underpants.
rollingfists 5 years ago
Regardless what the man has done in his personal life, his training speaks for itself. When you study the life Miyamoto Musashi, if he were alive today, he would be in a nut house for being psychotic paranoia. Yet his swordsmanship is legendary. Food for thought.
abdus2 5 years ago
Funny comments about the Gracies. What people fail to realize is that Helio adapted a hard form of Jijitsu to be competitive in a SPORTS arena. Aikido is designed from several hard styles of Jujitsu, and the paticular style that Segal has trained in is one of the hardest. He did this LONG before he was a movie star back when whites were still an oddity in Japan.
abdus2 5 years ago
its funny to see people pay him out when most of u dont know squat about aikido or him.
if u could take down that many people that fast, you'd be pretty good too.
stop paying people out. he'd flatten most people why compare.

CONAN121 5 years ago
On the contrary, I would say Segal is probably less lethal then he believes himself to be. Also, he has been known to hurt his stuntmen and anyone who he thinks he can beat. Which is why he really deserves a good beating a la Gene LeBelle.

I have studied aikido(1988-present)judo(1989-present)
Isshinryu karate(1972-present)and boxed in the U.S.Marine Corps(73/77)As a former police and federal corrections officer who has actually used aikido in "REAL" situations I KNOW it works! It just takes longer then the other arts to become combat effiecent.

THAT Steven Segal???
