i think the truck that broke the red light, became aware of the other truck and slammed the brakes.maybe if he had gone at full speed, then he wd have passed the other truck !!

The Fire Truck heading toward the camera is rolling through a red light. Neither truck slowed for the blind intersection, most departments have a policy that requires them to clear all intersections of other vehicle traffic before proceeding.

I live in California and last week a fire truck collided and killed a man in hs truck, right by my house.

Just becuse you have red lights and a siren does not exempt you from liability when you drive without regard for everyone's safety.

I myself am a Firefighter. I would just like to say this all because of one thing. Tunnel vision. When Firefighters, Police, or Paramedics get the lights and sirens going. They think nothing can stop them.

I know the felling of rolling a truck 3 guy's and my self rolled on 9-29-08 on the way back to the station in bahama NC. I had a hematoma of about 4 cm and the driver who I was sitting behind broke his hand. we where coming around a sharp curve and the rear tires dipped off and that was all she wrote. me and the driver where knocked out on impact after that we rolled two more time's if fucking sucks waking up upside down not knowing wtf just happend

And by the way the truck that hit the engine shown first did stop. They stopped just outside the camera shot. It takes a lot to stop those trucks. And for those of you wondering yes I am a firefighter. That's how I know these things. Oh and no one rides on the sides of the trucks and engines anymore. That is why the trucks and the engines have cabs. They ride in the cabs. plus they all had their seat belts on.

Listen here the reason those guys ran into each other is because that intersection is a blind intersection. They simply couldn't hear or see each other. The engine that is first shown was obviously at fault because the engineer didn't follow procedure. He was suppose to slow down and check to make sure it was clear. The engineer always has his eyes on the road. The captain was watching the fire.

People you have no idea what it is like to be behind the wheel of a ladder truck going emergency to a call.I do.I drive one every third day and I cant believe people are actually looking at firemen in a bad light..accusing them of being under some kind of influence with no pretense.Firemen have to have an attitude of some kind due to the risks that they take each and every day for the public and fortunately they don't discriminate against anyone.
