@kazoopilot Yes, but to get this much with an ENE wind is a perfect storm. Michigan gets north and west winds all the time which make snows like this happen often. In Duluth, it is pretty rare to have the perfect conditions for lake effect and have the wind blowing the right way.
@kazoopilot The real Perfect Storm,on Halloween of 1991, Duluth got about 3 feet in 24 hours,Park Point,by the Aerial Lift Bridge, had snow drifts high as telephone poles,it took a week to clear that area.,,,,Your right about Michigan, you guys sure get alot there.
lol. There is a Lake Ave that goes uphill but I bet you are thinking of 21st Ave East that goes uphill from 61/I35. Duluth can be a nightmare to drive in the winter. Its not uncommon to get stuck trying to get uphill. I have to change my routes in the winter when its bad. They do keep 21st ave east cleared pretty well though since its a major thoroughfare.
man i cannot IMAGINE lake street at this time! I was to duluth last summer and thought omg what happens in an ice storm on that hill?!?!?! ( I may have got the street name wrong it goes up the hill from 61/ I35 and leads up towards the U of M and school of scholastica
Thanks everyone for all your comments! I have not been well for some time so have not been able to respond until now. Spring is coming up here but another storm is expected this week. :( Still no snowblower lol.
I love your dog, Sable! What a doll. You guys need a snowthrower. Good job with all that snow. Good thing I live in the South (Minneapolis) and don't have to deal with all that snow! :-)
Just by the sound your feet make when you walk, it also seems very cold. In Montreal we got a couple of big snow storms, and like you say, it's not even Winter yet. It's going to be a long one this year. I hope I'm wrong...
Cute dog and she sure was happy with the snow.

I'm so jealous. We never get that kind of weather here in the UK. If it snows just 2CM the country comes to a stand still. It's rediculous really...

Why is it all dogs act the same in fresh snow? Very cute, LOL

I live just north of Hermantown and we barely got 4 inches out of that storm. Crazy how localized that lake effect snow was.

We've been in the 80's here in Texas and I've been grumpy as I like it cold in winter, especially near Christmas.
But I don't think I could handle all that.
We Texans are kind of wusses in cold.
Enjoy your white Christmas.
Sable seems to be having fun.
SusannTx 4 years ago
Thanks! I am sure I wouldn't be able to handle the Texas summers either. lol. Have a nice Christmas!
