If you dig the music and want to hear a modern day version of this style, google flux capacitor band. Found those guys about 2 years back. It's terrific!
oh common, stop making nasty jugging comments. it's art, not a movie supposed to take place in the 60's just enjoy! nice job really made me wanna get up and dance
I've watched this several times. It kind of draws you back. There is something unique and creative about this video. You have tapped into some kind of time warp. It is chanelling the late 50's-60's yet is also very new - it's transformational. You should make more videos.
@Hwillijonl Thank you so much! What a great, super encouraging comment! Hopefully we'll post some more recent projects on youtube one of these days before long. It's been a while since I've put anything online!
Looks and feels really authentic and from the time, in fact I would have been fooled for a while if you hadn't come clean on the title, super stuff.....really enjoyed it.

Whatever, Strumelia, maybe these kids were so avant-garde that they INVENTED the first teeny Xmas lights. And maybe the ladies with the more 50s styles have just been shelted for ten years and the guy with the 70s styles is the impetus for the long-haired James Taylor look that became all the rage in the 70s. I believe this could be a real dance party from the 60s!!!!
surely somebody from houston area knows what i am talking about when i say THE WHIP - it was danced mostly to jimmy reed's music---everything i see isnot the whip we danced to in the 60's defin
wow think I'm thinking this is sooo weird and 50 years from now my kids will think how I danced is weird! LOL the guy in 1:54 I hella funny! he's sooo weird! XD
Wooooww! that is Shake the skeleton ehhehe, nice moves.i want to dance like that,i will try to do it,need practice, looks interesting :D thanks for posting the vid
Dont know exactly but I will take a stab. Firstly the era is 60s between 63 and 66. The organ sounds like a hammond organ. The music originates from the USA (west coast). The second part has surf influences (drums and guitar). The first is very Booker T and the MG's. The whole sounds a cross between the Ventures and Graham Bond. Dont know if I have defined it for you but I hope I have cleared it up.
After listening to it over and over again, I will somewhat agree with your original comment.
You have made it more clear so thanks, I am sure there are people that still love this style of music, and good on em. I am rather opened minded and have a broad taste in all styles of music. Thats a good thing these days. One thing that really facinates me is the music tree that is becoming more vast(see music as a tree, from the simplist styles hundreds of yrs ago to the lastest in styles). There is not one person I know or have ever meet that does not like music:-). Everyone loves music.
this is what is known as hard core 60's groove and dance and disco using the fab swinging sounds and instruments that were available er like todays acid and house music
Excellent period re-creation. The only thing that looked a little out of place was the girl with the Bambi eyelashes at 1:46. That sort of make-up was more associated with the early 70s British glitter scene than mid 60s kitsch.
Thanks! Glad you liked it! Yes, it was shot on Super-8 film, which is still made and processed, though pricey. You can find Super-8 cameras for pretty cheap on ebay and at antique stores, though (and hopefully they work!).
The music is from some old exploitation film, but, unfortunately, I am not actually sure which one. Let you know if I remember!
I think this was actually my favorite from the filmsploitation show. Amazing song, nice camerawork and editing, and what really makes it for me is the inclusion of some story elements (squares show up, chick likes the beaknik, etc). Also the dancing is great, not too silly at all.

Plus you're mixing dress, hair, and makeup styles from 50-70's.
But lots of fun anyway. :)

@isleyu Sounds like surfing instrumentals. If you like the style put these bands into YouTube: Atlantics, Ventures, Surfaris.
