Debeaking is not lethal so the pain is continual. In fact, it is prolonged suffering. I object to the way some of us treat animals throughout their lives, killing a lobster this way is no worse than if they were eaten in the wild, what I object to is things like keeping chickens in tiny cages with shit all over them and no room to flap their wings, as an owner of 3 chickens I find that inhumane.

We are destroying the planet and need to make better decisions. I try and teach my children to respect animals and life and the environment. But more needs to be done than that. You make good points.

My calling is for animals, and there are plenty of people out there who had a calling to save those kids in Africa, and that is wonderful. As for a lobster what would be most humane? thrown into a pot of boiling water, cut in half, or a knife stab through the head region? There will always be arguments about any type of animal being used for food and how they are raised and killed whether it's beef, pork, poultry, or seafood. I do not believe it's a high priority since it's for human consumption.

I object to the way some of us treat animals throughout their lives, killing a lobster this way is no worse than if they were eaten in the wild, what I object to is things like keeping chickens in tiny cages with shit all over them and no room to flap their wings, as an owner of 3 chickens I find that inhumane.
Killing animals is acceptable if done for a reason and the animal has had a decent life, we are killing it to eat it after all.

Individual cells in an organism still continue to function long after any instruction from the brain, until the last local energy reserves are spent, that's why hair still grows and the lobster keeps moving.
It's going to feel pain when killed, being killed 20 secs before cooking isn't any less humane.
