Not sure about what he said regarding new cars. My uncle crashed an s class mercedes head on into some guy who was over taking in a fiat. my grandad was the front seat passenger with no seat belt on (dont ask) and his head smashed into the windscreen but he was totally alright, uncle and all other passengers were not injured. Other driver was dead.

There is no way a person would of survived that in any seat. I suggest that you look up the effects of a high-speed crash on the human-body. The seat belt most likely would of snapped and sent that fragile body into the front seat at 60 mph.

If two cars with 60 mph each one of them crashes frontal there is no chance at all to survive. Under no circumstances with no cars, no matter if belted, with airbags, with helmet, or what else. It is just not possible to create a car that would allow you to survive at this speeds.

Think for a moment, how many crashes occur where the driver has no time to slow down at all. If you're driving along a 60mph road and someone crosses over onto your side you should be able to shave at least 10mph quite possibly 20mph off your speed before you hit. Hence it's 40mph tests not 60mph or more.
