JW's are a cult! Joel is disingenuous whether he knows it or not. The don't have a "compound" in Texas but they do in fact worship in windowless buildings and indeed have Bethel which as close to a compound as can get. They don't have single leader albeit strong personalities over others and they do have the governing "body" (singular). As for voluntary donations don't let the discreet contribution box distract you from every member purchasing literature to hand out for free.
imagine if ur hometown was in some sort of kaos, earthquake,flood whatever,isnt it our first priority to make sure our families are safe,noone walks away from loved ones to help a stranger first,its not gunna happen,the JW's take care of themselves first.I see nothing wrong with this.Its a normal and acceptable thing to hppen!!

They are a book publishing company. You do not see publishers and pioneers in the bible. Publishers work for a book company. I use the bible, as I already stated, if I use any other reference it come from a company that makes books not from a religion that has a bias and an agenda.

But when Jesus says I never knew you depart for me, that will be a sad day. Jesus is the only one between you and the Father. You can only serve One master, either you serve the God of the bible or you serve someones idea of God. @MrOribear In this world there is a lot of religion, and not enough God. You can find some sort of religion on every corner, saying they are the only way, and truth. But Jesus said He is the only Way and Truth. No philosophy can reveal God to you only God can reveal God. You can know God if you seek Him. But if you look for God in religion you will only have someones idea of God and never know Him for yourself. Knowing God will fill you, religion will leave you longing. Ask God into your life.

@MrOribear I didn't like myself as a JW, always feeling unworthy, never good enough for God to really love me. There was always something missing, no real joy or hope. I thought if I could play the part well enough, putting on nice clothes maybe God would believe it to. I was really left empty, this life meant little to me. But I asked Jehovah to show me truth if the WT wasn't true, and he was faithful and still is. I don't let man come between me ans God anymore, I am at peace with God.
@MrOribear I pray that one day you will find that too. Satan will use anything to keep us from finding what God has for us. And there are a whole lot of people who have a religion they believe is truth, but they don't know God. God says we have to know Him, not just know about Him. Jesus gave his life for your sins, and he wants to reconnect you to the Father. He will never force you to seek forgiveness, but if you do your burdens will be lifted.

Jesus instituted his memorial shortly before his death and he said keep doing this in rememberance of him, not whenever we think of him!! Imagine doing a memorial to him everytime we think of him, for most people that would mean doing it several times a day.Naah Jesus wouldnt want this.He died once and to hold a memorial on the eve of the anniverary of his death is fitting!!
Any group that does not allow people to think for themselves, is a cult. The practice of shunning people because they don't agree with doctrine, is not Christian. When people examine the history and find all the false prophecy and cover ups, they are kicked out. This group would not survive if followers were allowed to do their own research.
@PwrOfChristInMe Since when dont the witnesses think for themselves. I know many individual witnesses and i gotto say they are very decent people who do think for themselves. I have never known anyone to get kicked out because they checked out their history. Many people get kicked out coz they do bring things into the congregation which can have negative influences.
Being a decent person has nothing to do with thinking for yourself. When a person finds out the history of the WT, the loving thing to do is warn their loved ones that they are being lied to. Again the WT would not survive if they didn't excommunicate anyone that found out this is not truth and they are being deliberately misinformed. That is how cults survive, they demonize any that oppose them, it's all brainwashing.

@PwrOfChristInMe It was Jesus's commandment for the shepards to take care of their flock. Nobody tells the JW's how to think, people choose to follow wht the governing body has said. Do you not follow the rules/laws that ur government tell you. The difference is the governing body do this for the benefit of the congregation and in a loving way. No he didnt, he commanded his followers to go villiage to villiage and door to door. So when the scriptures say the meek shall in herit the earth and reside upon it forever and the righteous will process the earth, does it mean that the scriptures are lying?
In bible times they went to believers houses, because they didn't have churches to meet in. They didn't go to recruit, but to teach those that already believed. Jesus commanded his followers to: Mat 10:8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

@PwrOfChristInMe Hi, sorry its taking so long to get back to you, ur last statement about most people only went to the once a year to visit the synagogues. well I dispute this, the people back in Jesus' day were very religious and would of attended more than just once a year. Why do you say this?
No prob. It's good to hear from you. Anyhow a synagogue was just a meeting of people not necessarily a building. Most family's were farmers and just lived their faith, but didn't really meet all the time the way churches, meetings, and temples do. You didn't even see Jesus in an synagogue until about the age of 13. Most family's traveled several days journey to do feast days ect..

Actually he was 12, his family believed he was missing and when he was found it was in a synagogue where he was asking the priests questions. His words were something like "where else would i be but in the house of my father" Anyway i wish to question you over some of ur previous statements. You said paradise earth wasnt in the bible.I sort of agree, however in psalms 37:11 and verse 29 speak of living forever on earth, care to put ur thought to these scriptures?

This answers the beliefs of many Christians churches who believe that every believer is going to live in heaven upon his death or be rapture up into the sky with Jesus. Ok cool, I just hate being limited to # of words that is why I offered the PM. . Right on, the meek shall inherit the the Land, Terra, firmament, that is all good with me. It's not necessarily earth, it's an inheritance. Belief in Jesus gives believers an inheritance with Christ. If you look up paradise it is always referring to where God is.
The sad thing is as long as I was a JW I heard about paradise earth, I never heard talk of how awesome it would be to with God.
The Jw's were more interested in animals, the perfect home, the paradise ... but never that they would be with God. God is really left out in the JW idea of paradise
.. I personally look forward to being in the presence of God, to know what REAL love feels like, to ask, to learn, to worship, to just be ok with who I am and know that God is in control To just be a child of God.
@PwrOfChristInMe I have to dispute this as well,the scriptures say dont forsake the gathering. This implies that they did infact meet regularly to worship Jehovah. Sure they travelled many miles to go to the festivals but they were different. I think worshipping god in a group was a regular thing!!
@MrOribear WOW you take forever to reply. A gathering can be two or more people, they didn't have to go somewhere special, they could meet anywhere and worship. Jesus says "Mat 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them." I worship God from wherever I am, He is everywhere.
@PwrOfChristInMe I take forever to respond for two reasons, utube doesnt always tell me when someone comments and i have 2 broken ribs, bruised lung and a torn diaphram from a recent motor bike accident, the second one in 6 weeks!! The mind is willing but the body is sore!! We are meant to be unified as a human race, to worhip Jehovah as individuals and alone doesnt make alot of sence, sure individual prayers are fine but to worship without others doesnt seem right!!

I do worship with others and pray and seek God with others. But my relationship is with God first, others second. Every member in the body of Christ is just that, we are all different, I have to seek God's will for my life on a the basis of what God has planned. I am a member of the body of Christ and each has a different roll, in unity with the body.

Have you noticed that every time the end of the generation gets close, the WT leaders have to change it and call it "new lite". @PwrOfChristInMe Noone is saying the witnesses are perfect, they arent,they have made mistakes and will continue to make mistakes. They are made up from sinful humans and to expect them to be perfect is quite naive.Even those closest to Jesus(the source) still made mistakes.I dont think getting a few dates wrong disqualifies them from being Jehovahs organisation here on earth.

And since they have NEVER gotten one prophecy right in over 125 years... that make them a false prophet by God's standards. Deu 18:22 when the prophet speaks in the name of Jehovah and the word does not occur or come true, that is the word that Jehovah did not speak. Does the WT speak in the name of Jehovah? Has any of their prophecies Ever come true?
@PwrOfChristInMe To be perfectly honest I am not sure if any prophesy have been fulfilled by any religion in the past 125 years. Apart from the last days scriptures, which they promote.I dont think there is any that needed to be fulfilled.Sure some still need to be and with all things from Jehovah they do get fulfilled. The witnesses are the only ones preaching about the good news of the kingdom I guess they are fulfilling the scriptures then.This is a excellent question!!

I can turn on the TV or radio right now and someone is preaching the Gospel. I don't have to tell myself over and over "I am in the truth, I have the truth, I know the Truth". God is truth, not religion. I have the Spirit of God and he bears witness of the true God. Rom 8:9 Do you have the Spirit of Christ?

And sure there are money hungry people getting rich in God's name, but if you know the scripture then you can spot them in a second. Think about how rich the WT is, with their billions in real estate. Jesus told us to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, take care of the sick. The WT never lifts a finger never gives a dime. See Matt 25:41-46

@PwrOfChristInMe I am not indoctrinated at all, you seem to like putting labels on things.I am familar with many faiths and religions and the JW's have my vote.No other religion/faith stands alone like they do, and i expect the "truth" to be different from all others faiths.They fit the scriptures perfectly and more importantly they follow the scriptures more accurately and with a more unitied front than any other faith. You might want to reread those verses. 1Co 11:24 and giving thanks, He broke and said, Take, eat; this is My body which is broken on behalf of you; this do in remembrance of Me.
I wonder what YHWH thinks, when the Only thing a JW celebrates is the death of His Son and then rejects his body and blood. That is really sad:(

@PwrOfChristInMe Im sure you would agree that positive reinforcement is good for our well being, if a person says "i am in the truth,I have the truth,i know the truth" I say good on them, whatever makes that person feel good about themselves is all good with me. Would you agree that the JW's are the most united peoples in the world? @MrOribear Being sincere or positive about something doesn't necessarily make it true. Hitler was sincere and positive about what he was doing too. Truth is an absolute, it stays true it doesn't change no matter how things change around it. God says he is the same yesterday, today and forever. The Mormon's are united, the scientologists are united. Even the people who followed Hitler were united. The difference is that the body of Christ is united by One Spirit, but we are all unique in Christ.

As believers we meet and worship with out putting men at the head, our studies and worship is spirit directed, not man dictated. See how many times the bible says do not trust in men, but in God alone. You are united under the WT not YHWH. If the gov body decides you need to be afraid of smurfs suddenly all JW's are afraid.
@PwrOfChristInMe Not sure about the smurfs, but if it was leprachauns(paricularly the red ones) i would have to think about it. I understand what ur saying about putting trust in god and not man and i agree. Noone(JW's) thinks that the GB is a special group of humans,they are ordinary people who job is to put some organisation to an organisation. Someone has to organise so why not them. It makes sence , afterall how can someone learn about god if nobody organised the bible to be printed.
@MrOribear Why do you trust in the leading of men so much then, if you get it? Abraham knew God with out the WT or a bible. He had no GB, no one in the bible followed the WT? And no one who has read the bible and asked God to show them the way and the truth has become a JW. The GB thinks they are pretty special, they put themselves in the place of Jesus as head of the WT. Talk to some Bethelites, about how the GB lord over them. How they work 16 hour days with no benefits for $14 a month.
@PwrOfChristInMe Why do I trust them? There part of Jehovah's organisation, Abraham I would have to do a bit more research as far as I am aware no scriptures(or wt) existed for Abraham to learn from. My guess because he had a personal relationship, (described as "Jehovah's friend"),that he learnt and instructed by other means.
@PwrOfChristInMe I found ur comment a little bit strange about the people of bethel getting very little pay.I would have thought that money wouldnt be an issue with someone who has dedicated their lives to Jehovah.No witness places money above their god. As a flock the JW's turn to the congregation,the congrgation turns to the faithfull and discrete slave who turns to Jesus who turns to Jehovah.This is how it is and how it should be.
@MrOribear A slave is someone who is forced against his will. The scripture is speaking of a wise servant it is repeated Matt 24-25 speaking of all followers. Jesus has not returned to give the faithful and wise servants their inheritance yet. He will return after the great Trib. and then sort out the wise and faithful from the unwise and evil servants. That is what that scripture is saying. Do you want to follow a "Slave" who is being forced to serve,or BE a wise servant who will inherit ?
@PwrOfChristInMe Ur interpretation of what a slave is needs some work. Slaves wernt always forced.The scriptures speak of how slaves were to be treated and how they were to be released and how to pay them.To many being a slave would be no different to what a butler or a house maid does today.

@PwrOfChristInMe A few ays later I happen to over hear a conversation between the preacher guy and a few others in a different environment and was shattered when the preacher expressed his views on the local indigineous people. He openly stated that they were filth and more was needed to be done to get the "vermin" off the streets.He friends laughed as he become more racist.There was real hatred in his words. That got me thinking why would God give this power to this man!!

@MrOribear The Jw's follow the WT not the scripture. I just got the public version May 1, 2010 WT and it didn't even get the story of Adam and Eve right. Then they stuck in verses that didn't have anything to do with the subject. Don't you think that if you want to know what God has to say you should read his book and pray to him. Reading someone else's book(s) about who they think God is doesn't get me closer to him. If I want to get to know someone I have to spend time with them.

@MrOribear When I want to research I let the bible define the bible. I look up the original languages and other passages that refer to the same thing. I pray for wisdom and discernment, and I ask God to reveal to me what the passages mean. I trust in God's Spirit to teach me all things and to reveal the word to me. I do not seek the wisdom of man to reveal the things of God to me. The God I believe in is Big enough to reveal himself to me. I have no need of a Pope, a Gov. body or a guru.

@MrOribear My faith is in God alone and so far everything in his word has come true and is coming true. My God is fulfilling his word everyday. I do not seek men to answer the things of God I go to the source, and he is always faithful. It is not my job to fulfill the things of God. Nor do I believe that God ever promoted religion. @MrOribear Jesus fulfilled over 300 prophesies in the scriptures, for a complete list read your bible. My faith doesn't set dates for Armageddon, yours does. But for examples God gives me revelation and knowledge all the time ( see gifts of the Spirit). He gives me specific words for people to encourage them and let them know He hears their prayers. He shows me future events in dreams, he speaks in may different ways. I pray and he always answers my prayers.

The church and what goes on in the church is a fulfillment of prophecy. The gifts of the spirit in believers is fulfillment. Jw's make their own prophecy's by setting dates and changing doctrine when prophecy fails. Being that there are no gifts of the spirit in the KH is evidence of dead religion.

Where Jesus speaks of a good and faithful servant and an evil servant, he is not referring to a group or individual. We are either good and faithful or evil as servants of God. The established order is, we are fallen and sinful, Jesus restores us to God, He is our head, believers are the body. One is Christ, Christ is one in God.

@PwrOfChristInMe I fully agree, Jehovah never gets a prophecy wrong, the humans that do the interpreting do get it wrong, but as with all things he corrects us and in the end Jehovah gets the outcome he wants. Fruits of the spirit, no cant say I have Jesus's spirit in me, if i did I wouldnt be a sinning man, after all jesus is perfect and if his spirit was in me, sin could not exist. I cant say i test my faith either, i do question it and what my motivation is behind my faith but thats it!!
@MrOribear If God is giving someone prophecy it does not need interpretation, you know what he has told you. Like when Mary was pregnant with Jesus, the message was pretty specific. I am a sinner as well, but I have the Spirit of Christ in me, and I die daily to my sinful nature as Christ changes me. Are you aware that you can not enter the kingdom with out the spirit of Christ? So preaching a kingdom you don't have access to isn't going to get you anywhere. Jesus is the Way, Truth and Life.

JW's are a cult! Joel is disingenuous whether he knows it or not. The don't have a "compound" in Texas but they do in fact worship in windowless buildings and indeed have Bethel which as close to a compound as can get. They don't have single leader albeit strong personalities over others and they do have the governing "body" (singular). As for voluntary donations don't let the discreet contribution box distract you from every member purchasing literature to hand out for free.

In order to first seek the kingdom, we have to worship, we worship together,how can we do this if they sell the halls or buildings.Jesus said the poor will always be there. I see little sence in selling off assets for a bandaid solution.

They are a book publishing company. You do not see publishers and pioneers in the bible. Publishers work for a book company. I use the bible, as I already stated, if I use any other reference it come from a company that makes books not from a religion that has a bias and an agenda.

But when Jesus says I never knew you depart for me, that will be a sad day. Jesus is the only one between you and the Father. @MrOribear The WT doctrine is not scripture, is a philosophy on who the WT god is. God does not teach us to be in an organization. You can only serve One master, either you serve the God of the bible or you serve someones idea of God. I have only presented to you what the scriptures say, maybe you should ask yourself why those scriptures seem to be offensive to you.

But Jesus said He is the only Way and Truth. No philosophy can reveal God to you only God can reveal God. You can know God if you seek Him. But if you look for God in religion you will only have someones idea of God and never know Him for yourself. Knowing God will fill you, religion will leave you longing. Ask God into your life.

@MrOribear I didn't like myself as a JW, always feeling unworthy, never good enough for God to really love me. There was always something missing, no real joy or hope. I thought if I could play the part well enough, putting on nice clothes maybe God would believe it to. I was really left empty, this life meant little to me. But I asked Jehovah to show me truth if the WT wasn't true, and he was faithful and still is. I don't let man come between me ans God anymore, I am at peace with God.

And there are a whole lot of people who have a religion they believe is truth, but they don't know God. God says we have to know Him, not just know about Him. Jesus gave his life for your sins, and he wants to reconnect you to the Father. He will never force you to seek forgiveness, but if you do your burdens will be lifted.

Jesus instituted his memorial shortly before his death and he said keep doing this in rememberance of him, not whenever we think of him!! Imagine doing a memorial to him everytime we think of him, for most people that would mean doing it several times a day.Naah Jesus wouldnt want this.He died once and to hold a memorial on the eve of the anniverary of his death is fitting!!

Any group that does not allow people to think for themselves, is a cult. The practice of shunning people because they don't agree with doctrine, is not Christian. When people examine the history and find all the false prophecy and cover ups, they are kicked out. This group would not survive if followers were allowed to do their own research.

Being a decent person has nothing to do with thinking for yourself. When a person finds out the history of the WT, the loving thing to do is warn their loved ones that they are being lied to. Again the WT would not survive if they didn't excommunicate anyone that found out this is not truth and they are being deliberately misinformed. That is how cults survive, they demonize any that oppose them, it's all brainwashing.

Do you know what the fruit of a prophet is? Or what the fruit of someone who claims to speak for God? It's Truth, and the JW's have not delivered on ONE single prophecy. Do you not follow the rules/laws that ur government tell you. The difference is the governing body do this for the benefit of the congregation and in a loving way. No he didnt, he commanded his followers to go villiage to villiage and door to door. So when the scriptures say the meek shall in herit the earth and reside upon it forever and the righteous will process the earth, does it mean that the scriptures are lying?

In bible times they went to believers houses, because they didn't have churches to meet in. They didn't go to recruit, but to teach those that already believed. Jesus commanded his followers to: Mat 10:8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

Yes, Jesus went to a synagogue, usually several days journey. Most only went once a year.
God is the same yesterday, today and forever. He hasn't stopped the gifts of the spirit, unless you are in a spiritually dead religion.
The people Jesus rebuked the most were the religious, because they though if they kept all the rules that they would be saved.
You need to ask YHWH to show you the truth.

No prob. It's good to hear from you. Anyhow a synagogue was just a meeting of people not necessarily a building. Most family's were farmers and just lived their faith, but didn't really meet all the time the way churches, meetings, and temples do. You didn't even see Jesus in an synagogue until about the age of 13. Most family's traveled several days journey to do feast days ect..

Actually he was 12, his family believed he was missing and when he was found it was in a synagogue where he was asking the priests questions. His words were something like "where else would i be but in the house of my father" Anyway i wish to question you over some of ur previous statements. You said paradise earth wasnt in the bible.I sort of agree, however in psalms 37:11 and verse 29 speak of living forever on earth, care to put ur thought to these scriptures?

This answers the beliefs of many Christians churches who believe that every believer is going to live in heaven upon his death or be rapture up into the sky with Jesus. Ok cool, I just hate being limited to # of words that is why I offered the PM. . Right on, the meek shall inherit the the Land, Terra, firmament, that is all good with me. It's not necessarily earth, it's an inheritance. Belief in Jesus gives believers an inheritance with Christ. If you look up paradise it is always referring to where God is.
The sad thing is as long as I was a JW I heard about paradise earth, I never heard talk of how awesome it would be to with God.

@PwrOfChristInMe I have to dispute this as well,the scriptures say dont forsake the gathering. This implies that they did infact meet regularly to worship Jehovah. Sure they travelled many miles to go to the festivals but they were different. I think worshipping god in a group was a regular thing!!

Jesus says "Mat 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them." I worship God from wherever I am, He is everywhere.

@PwrOfChristInMe I take forever to respond for two reasons, utube doesnt always tell me when someone comments and i have 2 broken ribs, bruised lung and a torn diaphram from a recent motor bike accident, the second one in 6 weeks!! The mind is willing but the body is sore!! We are meant to be unified as a human race, to worhip Jehovah as individuals and alone doesnt make alot of sence, sure individual prayers are fine but to worship without others doesnt seem right!!

And since they have NEVER gotten one prophecy right in over 125 years... that make them a false prophet by God's standards. Deu 18:22 when the prophet speaks in the name of Jehovah and the word does not occur or come true, that is the word that Jehovah did not speak. Does the WT speak in the name of Jehovah? Apart from the last days scriptures, which they promote.I dont think there is any that needed to be fulfilled.Sure some still need to be and with all things from Jehovah they do get fulfilled. And sure there are money hungry people getting rich in God's name, but if you know the scripture then you can spot them in a second. Think about how rich the WT is, with their billions in real estate. Jesus told us to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, take care of the sick. The WT never lifts a finger never gives a dime. @MrOribear Jesus didn't tell us to have a memorial. He said for us to partake, as often as you remember Him. To declare His death until He returns. You might want to reread those verses. 1Co 11:24 and giving thanks, He broke and said, Take, eat; this is My body which is broken on behalf of you; this do in remembrance of Me.
I wonder what YHWH thinks, when the Only thing a JW celebrates is the death of His Son and then rejects his body and blood. That is really sad:(

Truth is an absolute, it stays true it doesn't change no matter how things change around it. God says he is the same yesterday, today and forever. The Mormon's are united, the scientologists are united. Even the people who followed Hitler were united. The difference is that the body of Christ is united by One Spirit, but we are all unique in Christ.

@MrOribear Christ is the head He directs the church. He shepherds the church both as individuals and as a body. The Spirit of Christ teaches, speaks, and comforts the body. As believers we meet and worship with out putting men at the head, our studies and worship is spirit directed, not man dictated. See how many times the bible says do not trust in men, but in God alone. You are united under the WT not YHWH. If the gov body decides you need to be afraid of smurfs suddenly all JW's are afraid.

And no one who has read the bible and asked God to show them the way and the truth has become a JW. The GB thinks they are pretty special, they put themselves in the place of Jesus as head of the WT. Talk to some Bethelites, about how the GB lord over them. How they work 16 hour days with no benefits for $14 a month.

@MrOribear A slave is someone who is forced against his will. The scripture is speaking of a wise servant it is repeated Matt 24-25 speaking of all followers. Jesus has not returned to give the faithful and wise servants their inheritance yet. He will return after the great Trib. and then sort out the wise and faithful from the unwise and evil servants. That is what that scripture is saying. Do you want to follow a "Slave" who is being forced to serve,or BE a wise servant who will inherit ?

@PwrOfChristInMe Ur interpretation of what a slave is needs some work. Slaves wernt always forced.The scriptures speak of how slaves were to be treated and how they were to be released and how to pay them.To many being a slave would be no different to what a butler or a house maid does today.

@PwrOfChristInMe Who is being forced???Noone forces anyone to worship Jehovah.Im yet to see anyone being dragged and held down in a kingdom hall. I have seen a free young toddlers make a bolt for the door, but usually mums quick on their tail. People worship Jehovah in kingdom halls because its the right thing to do. He's our creator and this is how he set things up.

@PwrOfChristInMe Many years ago I was visiting a pentacostal church and witnessed a "healing" It was done by some guy who waved his arms around alot and said all the "godly" things,he appeared to do some amazing things with the healing, there was many who, after he touched them and they fainted,came to claiming to be "cured" Needless to say I was impressed, thought wow this man must surely be from god,that night i went to bed knowing that God was alive and I had found him.........l

@PwrOfChristInMe A few ays later I happen to over hear a conversation between the preacher guy and a few others in a different environment and was shattered when the preacher expressed his views on the local indigineous people. He openly stated that they were filth and more was needed to be done to get the "vermin" off the streets.He friends laughed as he become more racist.There was real hatred in his words. That got me thinking why would God give this power to this man!!

@PwrOfChristInMe The scriptures say their is only one faith, one god etc. I have looked at many and while i am in total agreement the JW's have got it wrong in the past they seem to be the only ones that follow the scriptures as close as possible. They have also corrected they way they understood the scriptures as new sources of information becomes availiable!! No other religion does this, they keep to their traditions of men.Tell me then what prophesies has ur faith fulfilled?

@MrOribear The Jw's follow the WT not the scripture. I just got the public version May 1, 2010 WT and it didn't even get the story of Adam and Eve right. Then they stuck in verses that didn't have anything to do with the subject. Don't you think that if you want to know what God has to say you should read his book and pray to him. Reading someone else's book(s) about who they think God is doesn't get me closer to him. If I want to get to know someone I have to spend time with them.

@PwrOfChristInMe Yes I agree if we want to know Jehovah then we should read his book,well his book if massive and the amount of information in there is 2 much for any person to remember.The bible aids are there for a reason, what do you do when you want to research a scripture in the bible,what do you use, a referencing system of some sort, isnt this a bible aid?Theres nothing wrong with using aids, not only can they collate all related scriptures but can also provide further relevant infomation

@MrOribear When I want to research I let the bible define the bible. I look up the original languages and other passages that refer to the same thing. I pray for wisdom and discernment, and I ask God to reveal to me what the passages mean. I trust in God's Spirit to teach me all things and to reveal the word to me. I do not seek the wisdom of man to reveal the things of God to me. The God I believe in is Big enough to reveal himself to me. I have no need of a Pope, a Gov. body or a guru.

@MrOribear My faith is in God alone and so far everything in his word has come true and is coming true. My God is fulfilling his word everyday. I do not seek men to answer the things of God I go to the source, and he is always faithful. It is not my job to fulfill the things of God. Nor do I believe that God ever promoted religion. God says "seek me, trust me, honor me, pray to me" ect. Religion is Satan's way of keeping people too busy to seek God, steeling your time and money. Seek God himself

@MrOribear Jesus fulfilled over 300 prophesies in the scriptures, for a complete list read your bible. My faith doesn't set dates for Armageddon, yours does. But for examples God gives me revelation and knowledge all the time ( see gifts of the Spirit). He gives me specific words for people to encourage them and let them know He hears their prayers. He shows me future events in dreams, he speaks in may different ways. I pray and he always answers my prayers.

@MrOribear Jesus said " anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these" I have seen people healed, and many spiritual gifts given to believers. The church and what goes on in the church is a fulfillment of prophecy. The gifts of the spirit in believers is fulfillment. Jw's make their own prophecy's by setting dates and changing doctrine when prophecy fails. Being that there are no gifts of the spirit in the KH is evidence of dead religion.

@PwrOfChristInMe All the evidence shows that the early apostles started a "church" or a "religion" The scriptures indicate Jehovah directs Jesus,Jesus directs the faithful and discreet slave and they direct us. Skipping over the establishment would be going against the wishes of our creator. Otherwise why would he implement this structure? You say we dont need religion, i disagree, we need something that can organise the logistics for the "gathering" of worshippers!!

@MrOribear Jesus started the first church or body of members. The body is world wide, but as I said before each member is different. Jesus Is the head of the church. Where Jesus speaks of a good and faithful servant and an evil servant, he is not referring to a group or individual. We are either good and faithful or evil as servants of God. The established order is, we are fallen and sinful, Jesus restores us to God, He is our head, believers are the body. One is Christ, Christ is one in God.

Does the spirit of God live in you? Does He teach you? Without the Spirit all you have is meaningless religion, a bunch of rules and regulation. By the way the Spirit of God never gets prophecy wrong. The fruit of the Spirit is truth. "You shall know them by their Fruit"

@PwrOfChristInMe I fully agree, Jehovah never gets a prophecy wrong, the humans that do the interpreting do get it wrong, but as with all things he corrects us and in the end Jehovah gets the outcome he wants. Fruits of the spirit, no cant say I have Jesus's spirit in me, if i did I wouldnt be a sinning man, after all jesus is perfect and if his spirit was in me, sin could not exist. I cant say i test my faith either, i do question it and what my motivation is behind my faith but thats it!!

@MrOribear If God is giving someone prophecy it does not need interpretation, you know what he has told you. Like when Mary was pregnant with Jesus, the message was pretty specific. I am a sinner as well, but I have the Spirit of Christ in me, and I die daily to my sinful nature as Christ changes me. Are you aware that you can not enter the kingdom with out the spirit of Christ? So preaching a kingdom you don't have access to isn't going to get you anywhere. Jesus is the Way, Truth and Life.

@PwrOfChristInMe Yeahit does, when John was given revelation, do you any man can read it and understand what he was on about. Not a chance, even books like Daniel and Ezekiel are too difficult to understand, so yeah when god gives a prophesy it needs to be interpreted!!

@PwrOfChristInMe Anyway we should count ourselves lucky this system hasnt ended, it means we still have an opportunity to turn to Jehovah and to live according to his will!! getting a few dates wrong isnt the end of the world, i can think of many things that other religions have done which is far worse than what the witnesses have done!! It takes me ages to heal, i am not a young man anymore and if you have ever broken any ribs you will know how painful it is and how long it takes to heal!!

@MrOribear I've never broken ribs, and hope I never do, but I trust it is no fun! By the way the WT has gotten Way more then just a few dates wrong. And being an imperfect human is a lot different then claiming you are the only ones who hear from God and getting it wrong every time. Every time Wt prophecy fails they say oops new light. In 10 years from now everything they are teaching now will be oops new light. It's better to just trust God alone and let men keep their fairy tales.

You are correct the WT has got many things wrong, but really the apostles also misinterpreted what Jesus has said, they put their own spin on things and it was only through Jesus correcting them that the changed their thinking.Same goes with The JW's they have been wrong but when shown the error of their ways they change.
