ok let me tell you, the arena was built with a roof that was able to be able to handle
upper level for the possibility of a return to nhl hockey, another 1500-3000 seats, IF an NHL franchise were to return. so there ya go, it was built this way just for that possibility.
winnipeg already has an AHL team and they are ranked 4th for game attendance in total and 1st in game attendance per capita so if they expand the MTS center they should be good to go with the NHL
I believe as of this past weekend (middle of March, 2008)the Manitoba Moose are 3rd in attendance... And 15003 is enough to create a "supply and demand" situation.
mantle31, gonna have to tell you that your comment about the goldeyes simply has absolutely nothing to do with this. second of all, the moose have been here for 11 years and the only time that they received any kinds of support was during the lock-out..i dont think its realistic to say that anyone in this city enjoys a team with players that come and go year-long..
I would love nothing more than to see cities like winnipeg who had lost the NHL to have it once again but not if it means taking it from another city.

Start with the WHL, if that does well, hopefully the NHL would be convinced and bring in an NHL team once again.

Did someone remove the guy on the right's shoulders? There is no way he played hockey.. he would crumble. His head is huge!

Forget it Winnipeg. Enjoy the Goldeyes and Moose. Bring the Western Hockey League to Winnipeg.

I don't expect the NHL to return to Winnipeg anytime soon, either; but what's wrong with having aspirations?
We had a team once and now have a state-of-the-art facility. It just needs another two to four rows of seats.
You could say Winnipeg is too big for the AHL and too small for the NHL.
