This video is great. It reminds me of being on drugs in San Francisco and staring at the Pacific for hours at the outer edge of the Sunset district. But in reverse! Ahhhhhh... those were fun days. Now, Debussy is my occasional high..
This is exactly where my ancestor's came (in a boat) when they first came to Texas. They were from the East Coast. East Texas is so thick with forests (called Big Thicket Natl Forest now] they couldn't pull their wagons, nor get their horses/oxen thru East Texas.
They had to sail from New Orleans to the Gulf, around to Port Aransas on Texas coast. From there, they used flatboats to come up the Colorado River to what is now called Austin. Coastal populated first.
Reminded of a good joke: when folks departed Texas and crossed the line between Texas and Oklahoma, they saw a sign facing them that said: Everyone who can read, please turn back.
i like how you filmed it in a way where you can't see the ever present balls of tar always rolling up on the beach there. Good job. And God Bless what's left of Texas.
@horsedoctorman yea well trent is doing the best that he can just like all of us. and i am the typical sensitive douche bag commenter on youtube so i thought i would just be honest.
when i entered freshman theory in college the class was told dont use parallel 5ths or 9ths when arrangeing wow what would debussy have thought about that
// 5ths and octaves are bad if you're doing counterpoint or trying to make a classical style piece. Remember, the theory comes after the composition. If you compose following all the rules of music theory you're just doing what's been done.
If a Composer wants to be somebody they need to know their Music Theory, then do the complete opposite.
I would be lying if I claimed to have known of Andrei Tarkovsky before now. You did however inspire me to do a little searching so now I know he was a famous Russian filmmaker known for his metaphysical themes, extremely long takes, and memorable images of exceptional beauty. Thank you for your kind comment. I shall study Tarkovsky more and maybe learn something from his memorable cinematic style.
Well, that seems like a fine exchange-if you get to know the work of Tarkovsky you will be rewarded beyond measure for putting this on YouTube...can I suggest "Mirror" for pure cinematic beauty-"Nostalghia" adds a little more narrative-"Solaris" film of ideas-"Andrei Rublev"-a good point of entry...oh, you've just entered a new world of artistic experience, with Tarkovsky- hope you enjoy the discovery as much as I did...
I'm happy you liked the video. Our beaches here in Texas can be very beautiful at times and this was filmed during one of them. Thank you for commenting. Greetz to you, Kathrine, Anna, and Timothy.
Fantastic visuals to one of the greatest symphonic compositions of all time; please tell us the name of the conductor and orchestra of this performance.
Thank you sprichbeeke. I did take the others down because I began to see the vast diversity of the audience on YouTube. Everyone with different preferences, I felt overwhelmed and pulled back to consider whether what I could say really mattered to anyone. After a year, 20 thousand views and nice comments like yours, maybe it does. Thank you.
The most exaltant and sublime orchestra, Claude Debussy. Humanity should listen to the heart of beauty, to Life itselfe. There is no word for such wonders, such emotions.
Mike magnificent! Such beauty :) I have watch both vids Mike...I can't help ya on your request on the other video in the discription, I like them both very, very much. Thanks for sharin both.
Hippy, I so value your comments. Thank you. You know I'm really good at documenting Gods great gifts to us and can only take credit for little more than setting the controls reasonably. I'm so fricken awed by it all that sometimes I try to stuff too much into one package. I'm learning though. I'm so proud to have folks like you lookin' at my stuff. --mn--
Although the second half is as visually stunning as the first, I think you reach an emotional chrescendo at the end of Debussi's first piece and that is a more natural ending.
Though it's also nice to have the whole experience. As someone who lives far inland, I thank you from the bottoms of my dry feet.
Alice, I've been thinking this also! I originally thought about breaking it at that point but it was mid-track on CD so added the shorter scenes to fill the second half. I think I'll upload the first half as a shorter separate piece and ask for comparative comments. Thank you for stopping by taking time to comment. Sure is good to see you back with us again.
Thank you Geoffrey! We often overlook the profound natural beauty all around us as our lives revolve around corporate media and an unending barrage of bad news with advertisements for products that promise to keep you young, safe, beautiful, and happy.
I was immediately smitten with your first two videos and feel your creativity will find fertile ground here on YouTube. Thank you for the subscription and I have done likewise.
Wonderful video. I love the water/sky transition zone and you have captured it so beautifully. What a wonderful view, is it your house view or did you hike out there?
My good friend cereus2 invited me to stop by for a visit at his condo on the beach at Port Aransas. I stayed 2 days and 1 night shooting the footage during that time. I just got lucky I guess to get such beautiful shots in that short a time frame. Thank you for your nice comments.
Mike that was beautiful. I also don't like being up so early, so thanks for capturing such a gorgeous sight that I don't get to see much. And in such a nice setting.

I loved the video... but...I hate watching the sunrise in person... I was not made to be awake that early :) I get physically ill...lol. Also it is not as cool to watch being on the west coast. mrmusichead 2 years ago
debussy used a lot of parallel of 5th in his pieces. He was the kind of person who didn't like to obey the "classical" rules.
But some musicians say that the parallel of 5th thing is only forbidden in choral music...
