Obviously the gameboy advanced couldnt handle the proper combat system and when it was remade they couldnt change the combat system due to how much the cards were heaviliy implemented into the original game.

Roxas was created in the first game Kingdom Hearts when Sora like killed himself and turned into a heartless giving Kairi her heart back there for creating his Nobody Roxas. Birth By Sleep takes place 10 years before Kingdom Hearts so it would not be possibal at all for it to be Roxas. (lol i know alot bout kingdom hearts)
