I really don't see why this game gets so much hate. Sure the controls could of been more fine tuned I got this when the wii first came out and had fun with it, but haven't really played it sense. Fun but nothing really stands out.
Game was good, but forgettable. I'm not a big fan of point and shoot wii games because after your adrenaline starts up you get a shaky hand and your aim starts crapping it's pants.
FreQuenczy the reason there is even any sword fight in the game is not because of honor, but it is traditional to the Japanese Yakuza to fight with swords like in the old day... And japanese are big on tradition... And Yakuza is not a japanese gang, it is the japanese mob...

I also think this game is good. The "concept" of 1st person sword fighting I think it's great, I mean, come on, it was one of the first things that came to mind when we first saw the wiimote's teaser. It was not good in this game but I hope in the sequel it's better with the wiimotion+ (havent played it). It had a little problem with the aiming in shooter mode when you got the pointer out of the screen, camera would go crazy, but once you get used to it it was no major problem. Pretty fun game.

I enjoyed the game up to the Ninja level. That was nigh-on IMPOSSIBLE to beat. My Wii Remote and Nunchuk kept losing their connection during the sword fights during my increasingly desperate attempts to get past them. I agree with the gun>sword comments. It was a decent effort for a launch title but I've never went back to it. Maybe another time though.
I can't wait to play Red Steel 2 though. I have it but my university work takes priority first. :|

I love watching this guys reviews, but there are some things I disagree on with him. For example, I don't have a lot of talent when it comes to games, so when he says it's too easy, it's perfect for me.

The graphics look a lot like enhanced graphics from a call of duty ds game. And also, I think scopeing is hard in most shooter games. I've only played two games where you do it (call of duty modern Warfare mobilized for the ds and rainbow 6 las vegas for the wii) and both of them made scopeing INCREADIBLY HARD. With the call of duty, you were being attacked by about 5 people out different windows with rocket launchers. I kept getting killed oer and over!
There's a couple of issues I don't like with the microphone. 1, when you had to blow into your spirit flute, sometimes it wouldn't register as you move the flute with your stylus, so then you would have to play the song over again. And 2, I didn't like when you were interacting with people through the microphone, like the people in Paupicha Village. Any kind of sound you make usually doesn't affect the outcome of you conversation. I wish Nintendo had made it so that you have to say it correctly.
those graphics look like PS2, which sucks, and the Wii has a lot more to offer, I know in its gaming generation the graphics are the worst but, Mario Galaxy, Twilight Princess, those graphics are excellent!

I'm looking for the Ocean Temple. It is very fun! I can't decide on 4.25/5 or 4.5/5. At first I was hesitant because you play on rails, literally, lol...but I like the train.
As for your other question, remember, I don't compare games. But, I found the fps part of RS to be more fun than QoS. Plus, since it takes up the vast majority of the game, it well makes up for the very bad sword fighting.
