  • how to install that software?

  • can't somebody make a tutorial that starts with: for the following tutorial you need to install: .... and show how? Not just jump into the middle and start clicking around? I constantly get ultrafast not found, even though I installed the libx264

  • @theotherscientist theres stuff in the descriptions, which nobody looks at.

  • Thank you very much for showing how you did that gotbletu - it got me headed down the right path.

I'm running Arch Linux, and I'm not sure if it's why I had problems using your script 'as is', but I managed to make it work with:

    ffmpeg -f alsa -ac 2 -i hw:0,0 -f x11grab -r 30 -s $WIN_GEO -i :0.0+$WIN_XY -acodec libvorbis -vcodec libx264 -preset ultrafast -threads 0 -y output-single.mkv

  • @richardsheppardaroq yea this vid is a year old, u usually just need to edit the presets since ffmpeg changes those

  • Do you zoom in using ffmpeg?

  • GTK on the fly is :(. ffmpeg Lossless recording creates absolutely huge file sizes though so people can opt to allow non lossless and ffmpeg can still put up impressive quality with file size no other software I've seen touch. Some problems:

    1. Audio is off about 1 sec, somehow at video start (it never desyncs further, even on long recordings). Right now I just bypass that with an offset command after.

    2. I want to record 2 audio streams (mic and game sound), don't know how.

  • @TheMelnTeam check my others vids on sound and mic

  • I'm using your capture script, but I have a slight problem. The audio I capture has this strange buzzing sound which screws with my voice. Have you ever heard of this?

  • @OniLinkPlus try using alsamixer and disable the other open sound, if any.

  • How do you zoom in? Or does it do that automatically?

  • @0xNEVVG3N compiz enhanced zoom

  • thx anywayz though, it does work well as a screen recorder

  • BUT! Would it be good for recording games (I tried GLC, it was worse than RecordMyDesktop and Kazam)

  • @testingte maybe 2d games, but if u got a shitty pc, then nothing will help

  • @gotbletu hmmm....crap >.<

    that sucks for me then.

  • @gotbletu so u use ffmpeg to record? is it better than recordmydesktop?

  • Thank you soooo much!! Especially on how to record audio from your speakers (I used the first script). I've been looking for this for ages. Thanks!!

  • i copied the code into my terminal and the screen record works GREAT. but i can't get it to record with any sound at all! also i was wondering how i may change the code to encode in h.264 & mp3 in a Quicktime container (.mov)? or something else that works with cinelerra.

ps: i'm a NOVICE with this sort of thing. so simple EASY responses are great!

  • I have a dual monitor setup so this is what I get:

    $ xwininfo -root | grep 'geometry' | awk '{print $2;}'

    2880x900+0+0

Which means it records both monitors when I use it with the ffmpeg fullscreen command. Does anyone have any ideas how to get it to focus only on one monitor?

    2880x900+0+0

  • What is video format do you usually upload to youtube?

Which one the best than another?

  • I guess I should have seen this before asking you that question the other day lol. Thanks

  • Where do you get your wallpapers?

  • Unknown encoder 'libx264'

  • @pacorocks1 yea i said it in the video, not the crap ffmpeg in the ubuntu, theres a link in the infobox to get the real ffmpeg with all the good stuff

  • @gotbletu awe ok ty <3

  • @gotbletu File for preset 'lossless_ultrafast' not found

    ?

  • @TheSniperofDeath im amusing u got ur ffmpeg compiled? try a different preset, use "locate ffpreset" and change it to a one of those like fast, medium, slow ..etc

  • it is the best and the fastest ,it works with Mic very good . is there a way that i can make it record any video with the sound of it.

  • @amb1402 if u want to record sound from speakers, u gotta use pulse, then use pulseaudio control chooser and select the stream you want

  • I been using FFMPEG for a month or so now with my screencasts... no weirdness or buggyness like gtk-recordmydesktop. Its Sweeeet.

    Good Vid Mate

  • Cool Vid

  • Great! I though FFmpeg was something completely different. Thanks.

  • its not the matrix till its high-lighter green!!!

but hey thanks for the video.

  • Hi, thanks for the tutorial! I was wondering if you are using Ubuntu 9.04 (with KDE Icons? I love KDE!), if you are, is there a certain reason? I don't have a problem, I was just wondering

  • Good one! I've been wanting to get away from GTKRecordmydesktop but hadn't had much luck with ffmpeg yet. I'll have to give this a try!

  • @vaasnaad yea think everyone grows to hate gtk-rmd haha

  • super cool tip man, super cool. maybe now i'll also try my hand at vids :-p

  • @fatkasuvayu lets hear your spit then lols

  • super vid mate,nice..........

  • awesome!

  • my computer is low-end, and ffmpeg encoding on the fly kills it. i'll have to look into how to encode afterwards (like recordmydesktop), and then i'll be making videos. :D

  • First Bitches haha.

  • @nati032158 hi5, u did it!! LMAO
