Chen Zhonghua, in my opinion, has definitely got some deep kung fu. However, this particular clip, probably because it's out of context, strikes me as funny. His foot placement, behind his partner's leg, is so superior to his partner's... I would not feel comfortable not doing something if I felt his leg move in behind mine like that. Since, this clip is out of context, that's not to say there isn't value to this. However, this clip doesn't really show what Mr. Chen is capable of.
@Brentonarms - Too bad you don't understand martial arts theory or you would realize that this is not how you fight... you would know that this is training to develop real fighting skills. You fight. This training is about Life Protection. You struggle. This is about breaking bad habits that teach you to use muscle instead of body mechanics. The new UFC mindset closes the mind and limits the body.
too much power. but that's just my opinion and you know all about that. Opinions are like butt holes...everyone's got one...thanks for letting my rip hope it don't stink too much. :0)
at 0:01 you can see he puts his arms into compression then puts his foot behind his extended leg really fast while stepping forward , releasing the compression and tripping the opponent off balance. if you watch very closely you can see how its done
@g888 You are right, it only LOOKS fake. Now try to see if you can stop Master Chen from throwing you around at will. My money is on Master Chen or any other high level Taijiquan practitioner that knows how to use the art. My money is also on Ronnie Yee against you (he is the guy being thrown in the video who is very good in martial arts).
I really like what I've seen from Master Chen Zhonghua. And by that I mean he seems to be one of the higher level practioners in the internal arts I've seen on youtube. But my question is has anyone bought any of his videos? How are they, any comments?
Opposite legs are used mainly for pushing hands with steps, part of the 8 energys practise, also when the knees are close you can practise pushing knees to uproot your opponent.

This is not advence push hand because it is using body strength. Push hard on other party, no Taiji mind set and circular skills at all

too bad no one fights like that or it might be useful.

well the guy on the right pretty much just let the guy on the left push him. Lost his circle and structure.

Why are they in opposite lead legs? I would have switched stance.

the opponent needs 2 learn 2 balance his weight at his base...he makes himself appear 2 light

The guy getting thrown around is my Sifu's Sifu, and I can assure you that Sifu Yee is not too light in his base, Master Joseph is just that good.
