Yes, the volume antenna response is reversed. The man who designed it, Arthur Harrison, believes that "closer for louder" is more intuitive to the human brain. His designs really break out of the traditional theremin mold. Just search "145 theremin" on Google and the first hit will be his page for the design of this theremin.

This is the only one I have constructed. I chose it because it uses only transistors instead of vacuum tubes like a traditional theremin.
