y'all dn't know wat u talking about. i was in Nigeria when he released this album and trust me when i say this. he sold alot more than u can possibly imagine. everyone loved this song. as for him using a white girl in this video, i don't see what the fuss is all about. A girl is a girl. u guys are actually sounding kind of racist.
@feranprecious: Watching him play the piano is so much deja vu for me. His dad's signature instrument was the piano, which he used to play on Nigerian Television a lot as the resident musician. You probably have heard of the Art Alade Show. Let's hope Darey keeps his head. Listen to the song again and you'll catch resonances of Tom Jones in his voice.
PSA Pepe Spray Activities is pleaased to presen to you th newest sensation in NIgeria, am sorry if you are an M.I fan, cuz Moti Cakes is waay better, but let me kno what you think tho,
no offense i just think he cannot serve two gods' at the same time .. does he want to sound foreign or nigerian?? ... some of his songs are like acapella... If he wants to sound Foreign then Nigeria is the wrong place for his to release his albums .. He wunt sell ... The song is not bad dough ... 3 nd a 1/2 stars
Those arguing that his old videos he used black girls need to realize that this is EXACTLy the problem...Now that his videos are in HD and he has "Upgraded" in contrast to when he just started..He is now excluding black women from his videos thereby suggesting that using white and coloured ladies is the sign of "good living" and "international standard". Fela and Brenda Fassi for instance are well known internationally and their music(which includes videos etc) is deeply rooted in their culture
Dare, I understand the 'rant' here about all these annoying trends of shooting Nigerian music videos outside Nigeria. I also understand your ties with SA (project fame etc) but there has to be more justification. Explore your own land if u want to be taken more seriously globally. Shoot more 'made-in-Nigeria' videos. The South Africans una dey carry money go give still no send una sef! Haba!
i dont understand why when most naija artist go to south africa to do their videos its not about location and setting.
they go there just to use white women in their videos.
every dare video i have seen oyibos over and over again.
only in "let u know" there was one black girl which was the main girl, but everyone else was white. whats up with this guy anyway? is he ashamed of his own people so in order for him to go international he needs to use white women and sell out.
I feel you jere. Is there something wrong with Naija girls that these artistes feel the need to use foreigners in their videos? From Darey to D'banj to Faze. I understand the need for equipment and less strees but people make GREAT videos in Naij with Beautiful women, ask Lagbaja. If everyone leaves Naij to make their videos, how will the music vid industry get better?
i c wat u mean. These prominent artists need 2 show off real African BEAUTY man, yea its gr8 2 hav a girl wid a gr8 figure on a music video, in fact its gr8 2 watch but its not helpin naija image.
over here pple think africans are trying 2 follow in the shadows of american artists like Jay-Z, P. Diddy n usher n dats not true cuz theres so much talent jus leakin thru in Naija all we need is jus sum originality so pls all our lovely performers we love u n keep it up but pls try to show off a bit of naija (n i aint jus sayin puttin black girls on d videos) ;)
exactly. naija artist are suppose to bring what they have from THEIR OWN COUNTRY to the table. all this going to work with foreigners to use non black women is disturbing. are naija girls that ugly? or we dont have the "international pass" in music videos? is his way of getting recognized to use oyinbo women?
bring what you have from NIGERIA as a naija artist. thats what he needs to be doing.
still waiting for the day when whites will show us love, and why we keeping showing them love.
i was one of the first to watch this when it premiered, u av not done a gud just pushing it, lovey lyrics, not too good a video, but should take u places.
Darey, I am speechless. After ur song "Escalade" I thought you may not be able to do anything better . However with "Not the girl" you have left me speechless. Darey this is ur best as far as I am concerned. This is a world class song. I now rate you in the class of Phil Collins or Michael Bolton and Elton John. Beacuse with this song and the video, you have proved that you are now world class.
I hate the fact that the girl isnt Nigerian... its a huge turn off for me cos i feel like i cant identify with it... We have same curves, good looks and lovely shapes...the girl is fine...nothing against her... but i wud have preferred it if she was Nigerian...
really gud.. dlyrics r really gud... his showcased himself as a performer.. i actually thot he remade dz song.sounds like some stevie wonder ish...dz is really gud dare...iLove!!!!
been better. The end was especially beautiful, the way the rain washes off the ink of the music notes...I was blown away! LugardAve, plssss cut out the negativity, it has no basis! I am a proud Nigerian!
i'm Nigerian too. So what is your point? I merely expressed my opinion. Its a very good video, i just think that one part is corny, i don't see how it should affect you.
This is exceptional! The detailing, the production quality, even his voice has never been better. The end was especially beautiful, the way the rain washes off the ink of the music notes...I was blown away! LugardAve, plssss cut out the negativity, it has no basis! I am a proud Nigerian!
yeah, very nice cinematography in this video, but the end was kind of corny when he was singing by the door...just an opinion. And, his voice did not do this video justice at all.
Hands down this is the best so far from Darey. This is the Darey that contested in project fame. He his no longer 'unDareted'. Keep up the great work.

i agree with you!
they leave naija to do better vids and to use white women.
are there no black women in south africa, since thats where most of them go.
they all need to rethink themselves and how they portray their country.
stop running to foriegn land just to do music videos and then they copy so many american styles.
yawn... naija needs to be more orignial.
