People love to hate on JM because if you were to take any single one of his aspects (singing, songwriting, musicianship) and look at them individually, he would still be better than 95% of artists today, yesterday and long, long ago. So when you put those 3 together, you get somebody that is so freakin' talented, it just isn't fair. People that are hired to "write good songs" for other artists can't even write as good as JM does.

Also, I don't know where you got your source of him not putting out any more "sappy love songs"... he recently performed three new songs at the Village Underground in NY and one of three is what I suppose you'd call a "sappy love song".

It is most likely about JS. She sometimes tweeted lyrics from this song. She would say, a good friend or someone once told me, and then she would quote the line about not worrying so much about her looks and the mirror is only backwards anyway and other lines from the song. He has said he loved the women he dated longterm. I think he truly loved her but his life was crazy busy and for many reasons, he wasn't ready to settle down.

She said in interviews she was refusing his attempts to apologize. Also, she was at that time trying to start the show about being physically self conscious. Simple yet powerful. Similar to Stop This Train. Who Says was similar in the styling of guitar however the lyrics weren't that powerful. They were catchy, but the question "who says I can't get stoned?" really doesn't speak to many. This song is just both lyrically and musically beautiful. Can not wait for John's next album :)

Simple yet powerful. Similar to Stop This Train. Who Says was similar in the styling of guitar however the lyrics weren't that powerful. They were catchy, but the question "who says I can't get stoned?" really doesn't speak to many. This song is just both lyrically and musically beautiful. Can not wait for John's next album :)

@salvamg89 yeah, the intro sections and the bridge are in 4/4 and the verse and chorus are in 3/4. gives it kind of a cool feel i think.
