  • im wondering why there seems only to be comments for these people and non agenst is it beacuse they delete them??? why also why hide your faces if your so proud of what your doing show it dont hide

  • You guys rock.

This is off topic, but does anyone know what song was used in this vid? I heard it on a tv show today but can't find the name anywhere.

  • I heard it was hipster music...

  • @coriandre27 believe it is from an edit song.

  • how about the way of life loggers like me have had to give up after being around it our whole lives? i personally loved my life in the mountains and working in the woods, now i live in vegas ,why? cause i had to go where the work was to support my family, thanks shit heads for over turning my fucking lives with your uneducated bullshit! how many pamilies have you assholes destroyed?

  • I hope that you find a better job. I sincerely do. But this doesn't change that we have a responsibility to meet for future generations.

If we don't start acting responsibly with the planet now, future generations of humanity are going to face the severest and bleakest of prospects and hardships.

We are at a point where we can think only of ourselves and the here and now or we can think outside of ourselves and think of future generations.

  • Like hunting or fishing?........stop clearcutting!

  • Considering the damage to the larger regional eco-system incurred by logging activities,I would think that loggers might take a look at the middle east, which was once as heavily forested. You know.the cedars of Lebanon and all that.Lumber prices are through the floor, demand is non existent and inventory is high. Why not take this opportunity to re-examine forest policy to take into account the needs of the forest? It has to be done eventually. We dont really need the erosion.Like fishing?,,

  • You dumb fucks piss me off get a fucking job and do somthing beside piss people off if i was on that crew that you guys blocked out from there job i would have been kicking the shit out of you hippie bitches!!!FUCK YOU GO TO HELL!!!

  • YOU are ignorant as apost

  • he is ignorant as a post?? lets define ignorant, you protest logging endangering jobs and peoples lively hoods and he is ignorant? you protest logging and yet you use tree's to put up your stupid tripod, i am not about clear cutting unless it is a sick forest, i agree with selective thinning, but lets face it you fucking people are not about regulation,,, your about shutting it down all the way around. you hippie fuckers need to go back to the bay area and stay there! ignorant punk ass hippie

  • See my other response to your comments. Unfortunately, we have major decisions that we must begin to make now. The planet is finite. We have been reckless with it. We can keep acting as if there are no major consequences or that there aren't any limits which this planet possesses. If we do this, we are giving the future of humanity and their welfare and happiness the middle finger. Or we can start facing reality, and start thinking many generations ahead of ourselves.

  • but what you people are failing to mention is that we replant trees as well as harvest them ,you would have the general public believe that we are not replanting and that we are all about destruction, and it isnt true. noone ever see you people show the positive side, every logging outfit I ever worked for went through pain staking efforts to protect the enviroment,

  • First off, "you people" is a generalization of a complex and overlapping groups of people. Second off, I know plenty of eco-activists of do mention the planting of trees, but they also mention that a forest isn't just a bunch of trees. The harvesting of the trees ravages a forest ecosystem deeply, planting new trees in their place doesn't fix this. When a forest ecosystem is destroyed and trees are planted back, it is a tree nursery there, not a forest.

  • you do have a point BUT the ecosystem can also be destroyed by doing nothing I.E forest fires and so on. it has been proven that proper harvesting helps the forest. what it boils down to isthat we, "your people and mine" need to come to a happy medium. the forest can be for recereation and harvesting. and the eco system will be fine. your talking about stopping logging all the way around. a compromise has to be met. or it is nothing but war,so to speak, follow me?

  • In ecosystems where wildfires are natural & cyclical, the wildfires can be a *part* of the ecosystem, i.e. certain plant species depend on the wildfires for reproduction & growth. When wildfires are stopped in such ecosystems, the plant species diversity and density healthy for that ecosystem is disrupted. In contrast, no ecosystem has evolved harmoniously to be clear-cutted, bulldozed, & torn out. As noted in the video's info, these activists are proposing alternative, better approaches.

  • better alternitives? such as?

  • There are alternatives designed to prevent soil erosion into rivers, avoid soil depletion, and promote rapid re-growth. However, respectfully, I am not a member of the groups in question, although I morally support the action, but I cannot speak for them on what they themselves perceive as the seed of progressive forest management. I would recommend that you contact them and ask them what their ideas may be. I don't want to disrespect them by taking away their wind from their sails, so to speak.

  • Native forests... Would this be considered a solidarity struggle?

Is there any communication with the native peoples whose forests you're defending?

  • Thanks for this comment. The term "Native forests" is in need of being defined.

We are using native in the same way that you might when describing a plant as native. In this case it means that the forest was allowed to regenerate naturally after a disturbance such as logging or fire.

Letting a forest regenerate like this creates a healthy, fire resistant and biodiverse forest unlike the even aged plantations now seen on our public lands. These forests are future old growth.

  • ok and what about fire protection? sherman pass fire back in 88, over 20 thousand acres burned from a lightening storm and because of the EPA that forest today still looks like shit. granted trees are growing back naturally ,BUT what about all the dead ones? we could have salvage logged it and cleaned it up nicely but noooo ignorant assholes like the sierra club and so on wouldnt have it. abslultly amazing you people dont know half of what you think you know!

  • "Civil disobedience is not our problem. Our problem is civil obedience. Our problem is that numbers of people all over the world have obeyed the dictates of the leaders of their government and have gone to war, and millions have been killed because of this obedience. . . Our problem is that people are obedient all over the world in the face of poverty and starvation and stupidity, and war, and cruelty." - Howard Zinn

  • First off, Howard Zinn is a socialist. Second, If I don't like the way you live can I flip old vans over in your driveway? Maybe start a riot? You are what is wrong with this country. Bet you voted for obama.

  • Helen Keller was a socialist too. I'm not. Doesn't mean that I can't respect the opinions and actions of people that I don't completely follow in locked goose step. No, didn't vote for Obama. I guess you wouldn't like the Boston Tea Party. They threw away and destroyed private property. Guess you would have condemned people who were killed in protests that preceded the American Revolution too, eh?

  • yeah and how much gas and oil was dump into the ground when you ignorant fucks flipped that van over? you dumb asses always find away to contradict what your protesting. like that shit head that headed up that logging protest in oregon all those years ago, whinning about logging and he had the biggest LOG CABIN anyone had ever seen! hmmmm lets think about that

  • Society right now is making decisions only on how it affects the bottom line and how it affects our own selves now. Me and my family now. This has causes the vast majority of problems in history, in the present, and will continue to cause problems in the future. Although we think we're caring about our family, we're actually stealing away our children and grandchildren and many generations ahead of ourselves' future when we don't think beyond me now, family now.

  • you dont ahve what it takes to flip a van. no votes count.

  • Excellent work forest defenders! I'm very proud to even know one or two of you. You did really wonderful work on the Elliott State forest--thank you for defending the priceless forest when the legal and popular avenues of action have failed. Please continue these direct actions against the corporate criminals who care not for life but only for the next quarter's profits. Thanks again folks!
