Duhamel wa lucky. Affleck played the hand risky. All-in preflop would maybe make him win the pot. But Matt wanted to double up. He nearly did... I would still say good play by Matt...

This is not the worst call ever. The right price to call for this pot is 8,969,100 chips in a cash game. However, in this stage of the main event the pay scale is quite steep, so perhaps over paying the roughly 2.65 million chips was worth it.

Moreover, there is an outside chance that Affleck has AK or was taking a stand against Duhamel's earlier raises.

Did Cada, Gold, and Yang get lucky when they won the main event?

That's poker guys!!! With AA I would re-raise all-in!!! Affleck should better protect his hand!!!! If you try to trap you risk more than if go all-in or re-raise and go all-in on the flop!!!!!!

@alexous99 I agree... Anytime I try to trap with AA this has been the outcome. An all-in earlier on would have his best move. I doubt he would have called it had he not picked up extra outs on the turn.

@GenoPeppino True but all in preflop is a crapp shoot. You will get called by KK QQ JJ most likely. Maybe AKs AQs AQo AKo or any pair under 10. Peeps get crazy in the HEAT of some hands. Anyways at best he will win three out of four times all in preflop. So agreed PRE FLOP all in and he knows he is the best NOW and got it in good. I think Affleck up by pushing on the turn. Duamel had huge chips andf that was not a good turn for ACES all in . Only a better hand calls there like a set

@machak09 Personally on that board pushing all in on the turn is suicide. Affleck only ASSUMES his Aces are good. When in fact 7 out of ten times on a board like that with all the preflop action ACES would most likely NOT hold up. I personally wou;ld not bet ten million in a cash game on aces on that board. Affleck seems to think top pair is good on that board . one pair is the absolute worst hand in POKER and your going to be 10 000 000 on it. NOT me EVER TY. ALL IN PRE FLOP

Dummy-hamel is a donkey that sucked out. He should have got knocked out two other hands before that with worst calls. He's not a class act player.  It was his week to suck out against superior hands. He'll NEVER make another final table.

Yes Duhamel was lucky but, I'm not a pro like these guy but if Duhamel as QQ, we all talk about a bad all in from Affleck... it's easy to talk when you know the two hands and we juste see a couple of hand... don't you think?

my opinion is this: Duhamel might be not so good poker player as Matt Afleck but Duhamel have the luck in his side to win this tournament the WSOP u need also skill but more luck because one good solid pro poker player can make it very well at the start and with bad luck at the end to lose the tournament in cash games however I believe you see the skill players to win in a long term games because of the re-buy in Tournaments u need more the element of LUCK!!!

@christoschar1988 No, I don't believe you. Everyone has their own opinion about the percent of luck vs. skill, however, the fact is that there is no such percentage. Poker is undeniably a game of skill, but luck is also a contributing factor. A poker pro does have more skill than another player, that is why they are professionals lol. Their ability to get tells off other players is just one example of a skill aspect. Knowing when to fold is another aspect of skill, and also calculating pot odds.

@christoschar1988 Phil Ivey is human. Of course he can't play the game perfectly, just as nobody can play anything perfectly. Everybody makes mistakes, however, Phil Ivey is so good at the game that he makes better decisions more often than he makes mistakes. Why do you see familiar faces every year making it to the final tables of the WSOP? That's because they are the best, and they have a lot of skill. Yes luck is involved in poker, but it's useless if you don't have any skill .....

Of course he got lucky, you ever once won a tournament got lucky at some points of the tournament. On the river, he had still 10 outs tho, almost 3 for 1 on a call ... tough to fold in the spot, specially knowing if he calls and hits he's huge stacked

No doubt he was lucky, but if he didn't made that move he probally would've never won this event. I've seen worst luckbox win the WSOP before, gotta give props to this guy. Feel sorry for Affleck though, huge suckout..but it's poker.
