  • Masterfully done!

  • I've been searching for this one for a long time, I thought the music got replaced. My favorite video

  • Give the name of the song please ?

  • @soks079 Description.

  • god, this will always be my favorite evangelion video. you captured shinji perfectly.

  • Wish I could buy this remix :3

  • this deserves recognition

  • so basically ALL the kids went insane at the end of the series?

  • good AMV for a BAD series

  • @MegaPetWorld Yeah, naw.

  • thats kinda trippy xp

  • I think I need therapy now O.o

  • This mashup is so awesome, the video makes it sublime good job sir

  • Wow what a great job you did! I love how complex Evangelion is. I watched the whole series a number of times and I swear I understand it less each time lol. Very nice work capturing the confusion and depth with music.

  • Gainax did a really good job describing the psychology of their troubled characters, especially in the case of Shinji. Haven't seen the movies or episodes yet but i can already tell that this is going to be one hell of an acid trip!

The remix is just TOO perfect for words and now it's even harder for me to listen to them apart! Bravo on the AMV too! :D

  • PURE AWESOMENESS!!!!!11!!

  • This would have been better if you had used the original Frontier Psychiatrist.

  • @JaconWes I disagree. I love both the original and this mashup, but the mashup's more interesting to listen to.

  • @Spacialvekter I agree, I can no longer listen to either version's original, this mashup is just so perfect. The two songs are just made for each other. A match made in an asylum XD

  • @Spacialvekter I don't know. I prefer the original Frontier Psychiatrist, but that doesn't stop this being frigging awesome.

  • the ending of the anime seemed like a happy ending, the problem was that it didn't make chronological sense and seemed like some kind of dream sequence or something. the movie ending was also confusing and it didn't seem like anything was resolved, instead everyone died or something (turned into orange goo), shinji and asuka were the last survivors and were more emotionally broken than ever. I honestly felt like crap after watching it, yknow.

  • @MrPJD18 It's hard to understand. You need to really think about and remember key aspects of the show. The Human Instrumentality project meant that everybody could reach paradise. "orange goo" is LCL which is what all the humans are made of. Humans have AT fields to prevent them from turning into it so that Rei(Lillith) and Adam can't activate Instrumentality. Shinji and Asuka realise that Instrumentality isn't needed and they both reject Rei. Shinji and Asuka are are actually sane at the end.

  • @Stiglitz51 oh really? o.o then whats with that ending scene? after shinji and asuka get out of there, shinji starts strangling her for some reason then brakes into tears... then she calles him disgusting and thats it... the end. T^T if you ask me, thats a pretty messed up way to end it.

  • @MrPJD18 He was trying to see if Instrumentality had occured or not. When Asuka touches his face he feels sad since he then thinks he just killed her. In Instrumentality there is no sadness. So becuase of this he knows that Instrumentality had not occured.

  • y'know, when I first saw evangelion I kind of felt like I was watching myself as a main character in an anime. I know that if I were in a situation like that I'd be scared shitless. I wanted to see how it would end cause I was hoping to see this anime version of myself grow through these experiences and in the end do the right thing and save the world. you see, I was hoping it would be a coming of age story. which is why I was disappointed in the ending.

  • I like it. Great mix

  • I think a certain level of mental instability (or, at least, stress) was absolutely vital to the success of the pilots. The natural reaction of a mother who sees her child in distress is to want to comfort/be close to said child. I would think that would at least up the initial sync ratio if not the cooperation between pilot and unit, even without factoring in maternal instinct dictating a desire to protect her child from external threats like Angels.

  • I think Asuka is the one who needs therapy jaja just kidding

  • Shinji did need therapy.

  • This was a great pairing. Good Job!

  • your nuts...your crazy in the coca nut

  • 20 people need therapy

  • 5:05 is that from the TV show? I don't remember that shot of Shinji and the woman

  • Very good AMV, fits Eva all too well.

  • Third Impact never happened...Shinji just had some SERIOUS issues. Oh, and Misato gave him some acid. But MAINLY, he had serious issues.

  • A well made anime AMV? WHAT IS THIS MADNESS.

  • @DerCruiseShip Madness.....THIS IS EVANGELION !!

  • @animekid9000 THIS..MEME..IS..BAD

    And very, very old.

  • Awesome AMV really captures Evangelion's soul

  • O_O

  • LOL! This makes me LOL!!!!!!!

  • Heh. That quote at the end is from Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho. It's rather appropriate.

  • every character in Evangelion need therapy

  • What surprises me is that NERV never bothered to hire counselors for all those poor kids. It seems like a no-brainer when the performance of an Eva unit relies on the mental well being of its pilot. But there wouldn't be much of a show then without any conflict.

  • @marofox Because the Evangelions DON'T rely upon the mental well-being of the pilot. They rely on the pilot's ability to disassociate with their own bodies and synch their mental processes with that of a 200 foot tall cyberorganic engine of destruction and rage. Higher-level thought isn't exactly conducive to that.

Also, Gendo needed his pilots to be fucked-up. I personally call bullshit on him projecting EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS IN THE SERIES, but whatever. It was all for, "The Scenario."

  • @Xynth25 Huh...I guess I never thought about it that way before. Time to watch the whole series over again.

  • @marofox To build on what Xynth25 said, a popular theory is that the "A-10 Nerve" (a term extrapolated from the full name for the neural clips, "A-10 Nerve Clips") is associated with the formation of connections and personal bonds, and that someone severely socially isolated, Shinji because of his lousy childhood, Asuka because after her mother's suicide she decided that she was better off alone and didn't need anyone, and Rei because she was raised to be severely emotionally stunted, will...

  • @joshcripe42 ...actually connect with an Eva better because the A-10 nerve will be longing for stimulation, and as such will welcome the partial merging of souls. Just weighing in with a popular theory.

  • @marofox maybe they need to be messed up for the eva to work.

  • @marofox

You know, now that I think about it, I could see that totally happening, and taking place at least in *some* episodes!

Shinji, Rei, and Asuka, each individually sitting in some chair and talking to some counselor, whom we never see.

I can see it so clearly, the "camera" focusing only on the character's facial expressions during the whole thing, etc...

Oh well, it still worked out well.

  • @marofox Well, that, and if they started digging then it's only a matter of time until someone discovers something they shouldn't have (like Kaji).

I mean, imagine if Shinji got that therapy and ended up remembering what really happened to his mother? Or if Rei started questioning her *real* purpose? And Asuka... Again, see Kaji. She's a U-graduate at 14; between that and her character, she'd be driven to discover the Truth if she caught wind of it...

  • @marofox True, but you also need to realise that only the insane have any chance of comprehending the divine.

  • @marofox nerv had the pilots monitored by misato and other employees but as long as they could synch with the evas and followed orders they didnt care switching the core and getting new pilot candidates is easier.although shinji is the exception because after a certain point in the anime eva unit 01 would only activate for him so some counselling wouldn't hurt as long as they had security clearance

  • @marofox

    It wouldn't have helped...

    Besides, the general "strategy" was:

    1) Throw Shinji in Unit 01 into mortal danger.

    2) Wait for Shinji to get beaten to a pulp.

    3) Unit 01 goes berserk and momma demolishes the angel.

    4) ???

    5) Instrumentality!

They didn't need therapy for that, and in fact, the more unstable Shinji was, the better results they would get.

  • @marofox That, or maybe it's that the EVAs draw strength not from the Pilots' mental strength, but their mental instability?

Or, more likely, it takes a supremely fucked up mind to open your mind and soul to interface with a 40-metre alien cyborg warmachine housing [spoiler]...

  • @LordSia13 It'd more likely be that the more mentaly unstable they are, the more they're drive themselves to isolation..which is exactly what powers AT fields.

  • SPOILERS!!! @marofox Their minds had to be unstable in order to pilot the Evangelions and sync with the souls inside of them. That was the reason Shinji was there to see his mother absorbed by Unit 01 (as she knew what would happen). That was the reason that Asuka's mother went through with the experiment even though she knew what had happened to Yui because it was needed for the Unit to properly be synced with.

So they needed to be insane for everything to work properly.

  • well to put a list of what shinji went through and the problems with him is.

listened to and watched his mother die

abandoned by his father who sent him to live with someone he didn't know

reunites with father who clearly states the only reason he even called him is because there is no one else who can save them

guilt tripped into piloting the machine that took his mother from him

pilots it despite the horrible physical and mental torture involved with it

theres more but im out of letters

  • Whats the likelihood of getting an mp3 download of the song? Its amazing =D

  • I happened to be one of the few happy with the ending of both the series and the movies.the rebuild of evangelion less so although it's impressive how far animation has come since 1995

  • @loki8472 Rebuild of Evangelion hasn't ended yet, that's why your dissapointed at the ending -.-, cause it isn't an ending, it's like the end of an episode, there are four parts to the Rebuild, only 1 and 2 are complete, the last two are still in production. Personally, the series ending was just too psychologically confusing for me, loved the movie ending, and am looking forward to how they finish the Rebuild.

  • @vc180191 The movie's and series' ending are like parallel and stuff. The movie's ending is what's going on real time and tv's ending was what was going on inside shinji's mind at the time.

  • Keeping in mind that I have not seen Evangelion, I must offer my take on the situation. Shinji Ikari is a very troubled child. He is, indeed, crazy in the coconut. His sanity has run up the curtain and joined the choir invisible. He is, as the spanish say, Poco Loco en el Coco.

This shit is what happens when you let sexually traumatized teenagers combat twelve-ton death machines.

  • @MrThumbsup Worse than sexually traumatised. Shinji watched his mother dissolve trying to pilot the EVA he is then forced to pilot, Asuka's mom went insane and killed herself and the doll she thought was Asuka - and she's the one who found them. The less said about Rei's, for lack of a better word, "childhood", the better...

And 12 ton? More like a hundred tons, even at the lowest estimate.

  • That's a cello! Not a violin! That boy DOES need therapy if he thinks he's playing a violin. Pft!

  • That boy needs therapy!

  • good input from you all, finally some people that can really appreciate eva.

  • awesome and fitting

loved the annihilation of the angels in the start

  • I saw obese asuka

  • "You're a nut! You're crazyier than a coconut!"

  • FUUKUU&THERPSTSMNCDQRAQPST

  • FUUKUU

  • Exceptional Job at miying the songs together

  • Perfect song for the perfect disturbing anime

  • Don't worry, Shinji. They'll stop making fun of you once Rebuild 2.22 hits the US. *pats Shinji*

  • AWESOME. MORE MORE REMIXES!

  • 4:13 cute Baby Shinji is cute.

  • I'm in love with this.

Do you know where I can dl this song?

  • Awesome vid. I especially appreciated the bit of audio from Psycho at the very end. Very effective.

  • Pretty good, except for the shrill grating sound gnarls barkley calls his voice.

  • This is so amazing! :D

  • In one's defense... it was more like driven insanity.

  • I love this vid, its great, as for Eva...its my favorite anime ever made....i'm a freaking walking commentary on the show

  • I love this anime.. in a way it left me thinking and left a huge imprint in my mind, the psychological theme of the anime and how everyone was driven to insanity. Not many people like Shinji but I do, Shinji isn't like the typical boisterous, happy-go-lucky hero type character like in other anime. Shinji is different, almost as if he represents what a real person would feel. It just goes to show that not everything in the world is full of happiness and rainbows.

  • @NejixHinataFan I love Shinjis character. I never got why people hate him and call him an emo wimp. Considering the situation he still goes out and kicks ass that takes guts. I think people hate his character because they fear how real it is knowing in his shoes theyd probably be more pathetic than he is.

  • @JudgerOfSouls7 Neither have I, Shinji behaved like any regular human because if you could live in a world that pretty much looked like an apocolypse you'd be driven to insanity as well- not to mention having to pilot a huge Evanelion to destroy Angels knowing that your dad doesn't even care whether you live or die.

Yeah I agree too, Shinji was still brave because he tried to do things even if it was so hard for him to handle but he still tried to move forward.

  • @NejixHinataFan Hell yeah he was strong. I mean 14 and no mom to add to that as well. Jeeze its a miracle he didnt just up and suicide. Heroes on tv behave very unrealistically no ones that freaking brave that they dont even fear death.

  • @JudgerOfSouls7 Yes, absolutely right. Sure he was depressed but that's normal for any human being right? Yes, it's very true that he didn't just kill himself. I agree, heroes do behave so unrealistic and that's why I love Shinji because he represents what a true human being would feel if you were ever in such a world with nothing but destruction and death everywhere.

  • @NejixHinataFan Yeah the way hes so fucked up really is how people really are yet he keeps forging ahead. And hes cute too. ^.~ Really that world is symbolic of how messed up ours is only we are the "angels"

  • @JudgerOfSouls7 actually... the basic message is that within happiness comes hurt. (the hedgedog statement), the world isnt fucked up, its how one person observs and accepts the world. The view of the world can always change and depending on that our "positive nd negative charges" change.

Shinji is running away from the truth that love causes hurt, finding a nonexisting happiness and eventually he is lonely and despressed.

He is foolishly waiting to be saved, where as in reality no one is saved

  • @oreowizard1 Theres more than one message in the show and no matter how you look at it the world is fucked up. Yes there is happiness but it comes with a price.

  • @JudgerOfSouls7

Of course there are endless possibility on viewing the show, but im pretty sure

that in the end, shinji found out that he can always change his views on the world. shinji at first thinks the that the world he is in has only eva for his choice, and that he had nothing else. But after looking at the "alternative world" he realized the possability in the world (thus changing his view) saying the world isnt so bad after all

and about happiness and price, i said the exact samething

  • @oreowizard1 No matter how you change your perspective of things the facts remain wether you accept them or not.

  • Excellent editing right here.

  • @n00ber23 actually thats totally possible by a loner if they were able to pilot the eva i think alot of people could pilot it and do it even with the responsibilities of piloting it 2 i do think someone could handle watching the world fall apart before them they just have to be detached from society or well detached from feeling remorse or anything towards humanity besides rage and want to kill it 3 there are alot of people out their that fit my description and have no love life.

  • lol awesome

  • This song fits perfectly with the series. This is really a great video.

  • Excellent mix. Excellent anime. Excellent AMV. Nuff' said.

  • fucking amazing!

  • No lobotomies allowed.

  • Wow. I've never heard these songs by themselves, nor in a mashup. And the EVA montage going with it worked out perfectly.

    Nicely done.

  • Is there a download link anywhere???

  • Fantastic video - and I've seen quite a few Eva ones over the years XD

    Well done!!!

  • Amazing!

  • holy shit, that music makes my skin hurt from the goosebumbs

  • Never heard this mash up before, it's good. Gnarls Barkley's song is a good fit to the video :)

  • does anyone remember when evangelion was broadcasted on T.V

  • @reapertmn Don't think it ever was. Not in America anyway.

  • @ShinmaAuron well in australia it was broadcasted for a little while me and my brothers used to whatch it

  • @ShinmaAuron it was the first two episodes showed on Cartoon networks Toonami and were heavily edited, then the whole series showed on adult swim.

  • @bloodmonarcy so you remember when it was on

  • this is great i like how you did this its just insane

  • Wow, this was really, really well made. Great job! :D

  • I LOVE SHINJI. SHINJI SHINJI SHINJIIII. BEST EVA CHARACTER EVAAAAAAAAAA! (see what i did thur at the end? muhaha)

  • 0:29

How dare you call someone insane as you intentionally turn into goo!

  • aaahhhhrrrrr my heads gonna blow

  • Shinji need weed, sex, and for people to leave him the fucl lone and hugs

  • @blooddevilfox lol and hug

  • "Come on now, who do you, who do you, who do you, who do you think you are,

Ha ha ha bless your soul

You really think you're in control"

imagine how much that would creep gendo out?

"this is not part the scenario"

  • The BOY needs therapy? What about everyone else?! They're all nuts!

  • @TheJediTusken It is surely easiewr to Name the Character who AREN'T nuts... I think that's Hikari... and Kaworu. And possibly Pen-Pen. End of the list.

  • omg the two songs go almost perfectly in sync with each other and sound like they were one actual song wow this is fricken quality sutff dayum

  • Lol i was gonna make an amv to this music, awesome!

  • that drawing bit was awesome

  • nice mashup

  • I'm surprised he didn't go on psychotic rampages more often. And to be fair, the entire damn cast of NGE needs some time in a psychiatric clinic and a lifetime of therapy.

  • You know what's really great about this music video?

First, as far as I know, the anime isn't currently licensed to any company, so the footage won't get taken off.

Second, the song is a remix of two other songs, so it won't even be recognized.

    Gotta love loopholes. :)

  • also its a really well done mix

  • 3:55, I love little asuka!!!!

  • inFUCKINGcredibble awesome ;]

  • @LordSia13 Ugh. It's thousand Shinji and Shinji and WH40K, and Thousand Shinji and its sequel, the Open Door, are the dark one. Shinji and Warhammer 40K turns out lighter than either. Stop Sucking!

  • m8 awesome job ... listen to this all the time ! +!

  • At 2:22, it looks like Asuka's getting down with the beat of the music. :)

  • As beautiful and disturbing as Eva, wonderful job there.

  • really nice video really captures the insanity of Shinji

  • You guys stop talking about furries...

Lets talk about how fucked up this EOE was instead...

because that was some crazy shit O_O

  • @reoyoshi8 I COMPLETELY agree with you.

  • i now....thats why i was agreeing with you about the insult lol...........yiff.

  • you were talking about furfag being the ultimate insult to furries....i did research because i did not even know what a 'furry' was.

and come to find out alm ost all of furries are eitheir gay or bi-sexual.........hence me saying the word furFAG was actually very correct.

  • furrys are pretty fucked up.........just look on wikipedi on 'sexual aspects' area under 'furriedom' lol.

37-48% of furries are bisexual.......with only 19-25% being homo......LOL the majority of furries are fags o halffags.....LOL so the term Furfag is CORRECT.

  • Kind of a pathetic ultimate insult if you think about it though...

  • well I'm not

  • oh wow i really like this

    cool vid :)

  • :| aiyah

  • look it up, bitch

  • wh'ever furfag!!

  • up yours

  • fuck you!

  • anyone know where to get that song for download? i've looked all over google and i can't seem to find it.

  • thats because it a mix of 2 songs. that boy needs therapy by avalanche and crazy by gnarls barkley

  • Heftig!

  • Very nice, you are my kinda person. Eva being my fav show and Halo being my fav game...Good choices my friend.

  • This is out standing work.

  • That boy needs therapy!!!

  • that's amazing, brilliant mashup dude!

  • That was a great mash up. The beginning was a tad funny( like ha ha), but the song itself and the video matched perfectly theme and lip sync included. Well done!!!

  • on one hand i hate him because he is always crying

but on the other hand i understand him

    no mother

his father doesnt care about him

it is a really bad situation for him

  • wat a jam

  • I've always felt that shinji was the only character that acted normely through that entire series. 1. Your asked to pilot a giant robot that fights giant monsters called Angels, and if you don't kill them the world will end. 2. The world is literaly falling apart infront of his eyes in End of EVA, and 3. Not have any real love.

If that wouldn't drive you to go ever the edge like him, I don't know what would.

  • @n00ber23 if that ever EVER happened to me, id prob just kill myself lol

  • @n00ber23 I actually thought that in that way, Shinji was badass for holding together for most of the conflict. It makes sense that by the end of all of that, though, that he becomes a complete wreck.

And, on another note, it looks like Shinji DID get therapy in the form of Rebuild.

  • @ILIKECEREALX Finally someone who gets shinjis manlyness! Everyone i know hates on eva and shinji because its too awsome for their brains to handle.

  • @n00ber23 I agree, people can't seem to grasp the fact that Evangelion was turning that juvenile fantasy piloting giant robots in an adventure on its ear. People naturally want escapism in their entertainment and their heroes and tend to love characters who they project themselves as in the most positive way like Indiana Jones, Luke Skywalker, even Neo from the Matrix. Shinji was closer to the "grim" reality of a boy in the middle of the apocalypse: weak and genuinely terrified

  • @nonamexg18 Some one who gets why this show and its chars are so awsome. It feels real whereas heros are so fake.

  • @nonamexg18 wish people appreciated eva more like u :c

  • @nonamexg18 Wank scene.

  • When the zombie apocalypse happens, I'm setting our dance routine to this instead of Thriller.
