@BCRconcert You should have put a health warning at the beginning of this video, Eric in shorts and socks could cause a middle aged woman to have heart failure lol Talk about hot and sexy.
I remember staying up late and watching this show. I got a pair of leg warmer socks like Eric but I was too chicken to wear them with shorts. I only wore them with long pants. They actually were very popular in the winter time with long pants.
I think there were problems within the group at this point...Backstage fights and stuff. That's what was said in the BCR Behind The Music special,at least! Cacilie
I guess it takes a virus to know a virus, eh? Im entitled to my opinion here in the United States. The question is are you in a country where you can't state your opinion?
@joanieloveseric But u didnt answer my question. How comes Les isn't moving? And remember, he confessed to smoking pot when he was w/ the Rollers. So maybe he took a hit or two before going on national TV?
I was too hormonally charged in 1977 to truly appreciate what good musicians the Rollers were. I am just now rediscovering and really appreciating them after so many years. Thanks for the post
Eric did a great job covering Bowie's "Rebel Rebel" on the album. If I remember they dropped the 'Bay City' to just Rollers, to try be taken more seriuosly. I still love them.
i LOVED ERIC, BUT WHATS WITH THE SOCKS??? IM SURE I STAYED UP THE NIGHT THIS WAS ON AND CRIED BECAUSE I WAS SO IN LOVE WITH THEM. NOT MUCH HAS CHANGED. HA HA.
Just finished reading Les' book, by this album Les could care less. Their manager sucked and ripped them off completely. Read his book, it is very informative as well as sad about what really went on behind the scenes.
The one I have is called "Shang-A-Lang", The Curse of The Bay City Rollers. But I have also heard it referred to as "Shang-A-Lang - My Life as an International Pop Star." I ordered it from Amazon. It was definitely worth the read - very enlightening. I highly recommend it!
You can see the string section on the right at 0:58. It's clips such as these that make my mind boggle as to why they weren't taken seriously as musicians more widely. If only they'd been given a similar opportunity in the UK.
it's interesting how this song live seems a lot harder than the studio version. Wonder how it would've sounded without the prerecorded strings? I guess we'll never know.
any producer that produced the bay city rollers (except for rock n roll love letter/wouldnt you like it era) sucked the rockin life out of this band...pity too ... cuz they could chug out some good tunes when they were allowed to
Can you say HOTT!

Never noticed how much the music resembled cheap trick- but not as good. They do play great live, way less bubblegum sounding...

I remember this band, but not ever listening to them, as they looked weird. and every rock rag I read, (Circus and Cream) wrote the off as poseurs.

The one thing that the Rollers weren't was posers. Take it from someone who has met them more than once. They were and are the Real thing.
