thats freakin awesome, at first i thought this was mainly for music, videos, multimedia stuff and basic computing, but VIDEO GAMES??? MEDIUM GRAPHIC SETTINGS??? i have faith in the intel 945 chipset now....especially the video processing.... i didn't think it had that much power.... i was WRONG!!!
Should I get the 901 or the 900HA? Not sure which one I should get. I don't want a 7" one, and I do want an Atom processor. Pros and cons, please? ^.^
Well, they're both pretty good. I believe the 900HA is cheaper, but you get a high capacity hard drive. With the higher prices 901, you get an SSD, and also bluetooth and wireless N. So it's really a matter of personal preference. Keep in mind bluetooth and wireless N can both be added to the 900HA with a bit of modding.
Is it possible to install a HDD into the 901? I've seen videos of it being done before. You can apparently install 1.8" HDDs and bigger SDDs into it. I'd much prefer to just buy a HDD and get wireless N + bluetooth, due to some of the bluetooth items I own and wireless internet.
It is possible, but it is more difficult then putting in wireless N and bluetooth in the 900HA. keep in mind you can buy tiny bluetooth USB dongles for around $25
It looks much easier than it sounds. There is a video on YouTube of it being done, it's about 11 minutes long. Meh, I'll decide when I have all the money to buy an EEE.
I have the 900HA, and Yes, it is just fine for low end gaming. I recently installed Oblivion, some Sims expansions, and Vice city, and they all run good.
No dedicated video RAM with GMA950, it uses shared system RAM. On XP, I think it's 64MB. Vista will allocate more, but there's really no need. If a game requires anything more than 64MB of video RAM, it's probably too high end to play on the 900HA at a reasonable framerate.

why does the CPU meter show the processor with two cores? intel atom n270 is a single core processor.
aandrei1389 2 years ago
Because the Atom has Hyper Threading. the Monitor is showing the to Logical cores

Did you have to change any hardware settings (not on the game)?
IronReviewer 2 years ago
Hardware settings? Like what? Super hybrid engine was on super performance if thats what you mean...
speedyink 2 years ago
I meant like tweaking the system settings.
IronReviewer 2 years ago
It's just stock windows drivers, no tweaking done.

904 or 900?

zbljk 2 years ago
900 for the smaller size but the 904 is good if you'd use bluetooth or wireless N
speedyink 2 years ago
how about 904 and 901?
zbljk 2 years ago
901 I guess. I don't like the big size of the 904
speedyink 2 years ago
so, the 901 has better proc core, but 904 has more battery life...
am I correct?
zbljk 2 years ago
same processor, same battery life.
speedyink 2 years ago
they both have ATOM N270, right?

Sorry what?
You said Oblivion runs fine? I gotta see this.
Either way I find the 900HA to be an amazing netbook, getting mine ASAP.
Do you have to use the Oldblivion "mod" to run ES4: Oblivion?
Adrianpettit 3 years ago
Yeah, I have a video of it in my videos. And yes, I need the oldblivion mod for it to work.
speedyink 3 years ago
don't get the 900a... the SSD it uses is so painfully slow its annoying.

has this been upgraded in any way?
wats the original video ram

just replaced the 1 gb stick with a g-skill 2 gb stick. Video ram is 226mb shared or something, intel GMA 950.
