Adding weight to one blade is only part of the solution. The weight must be applied to the location along the length of the blade to match the opposing blade's center of gravity. Therefore, after you identify the lighter blade, place a pen/pencil on a flat surface and balance each blade individually to locate their center of gravity and mark it. Place the two blades side by side and use the center marks to determine which end of the blade gets the weight..
You can also use very fine sandpaper to remove material from the heavy blade, in this way you'll loose weight rather than adding it . I have been balancing airplane propellers like this for years.
thnx dude. i just had a really bad blade strike and am going to buy more blades tomorrow. The flybar broke off and shattered 3 blades... this will be helpful
Hey, GREAT video! Thanks so much! I had a TERRIBLE time with shaking after a MAJOR crash, not knowing, of course, that when you replace the blades they have to be a MATCHED pair since they are numbered. Once I changed them to the same "number" the thing flew beautifully smooth. I'm going to check the balance of the other blades to make sure!
Thanx for that! I've got exactly the same blades on my Chinook copter, but they are so damn fragile (I'm a really crap pilot)...are there more sturdy blades available in the US?
Wow man big help!
