The explosion left a scar on the clouds of Jupiters upper atmosphere larger than the Earths. If that would of hit us it would of split the Earth in half, thing is that asteroids was torn in half by Jupiters immesne gravity and magnetosphere and it exploded when it hit Jupiters upper clouds, in other words it barely even ticked Jupiter.
i cant understand why masses of people are in stress because of this swine flu that killed a total of 40 people over the world and at the same time nobody seems to care about a giant meteor the size of earth crashes into our solar-system.
its jupiter the biggest planet in our solar-system (if jupiter would be any bigger it would ignite and become a star) so that planet can take it but what if it was crashed into Mars? its only 1 planet closer to us.
The meteor can't have been the size of Earth, it would have enough mass (given its composition) to have pulled itself into a sphere. Also it would have left a bigger hole than the one it did if it were the size of Earth. I think the hole is the size of Earth, not the object.
I think, according to a series of calculations I listened too a while back, that and asteroid or meteor many times smaller than the earth could create an impact the size of earth if it was traveling at a sufficient speed. If an object the size of earth crashed into Jupiter who knows what the resulting cataclysm might be.
Abengoshis is correct. the size of the EXPLOSION was Earth sized, NOT the actual object that HIT it. there are NO asteroids the SIZE of Earth,....they would THEN be a PLANET, would'nt they? and one of the AMAZING GREAT THINGS about Jupiter, is it's MASS and Gravitational PULL. , it's PURPOSE in our solar system is to HAVE things crash INTO IT! keeping US SAFE FROM HARM! you should be very GRATEFUL that it DID HIT JUPITER! making us SAFE. and YES, I BELIEVE it is there for A REASON.
Meteors that would destroy most of the life on Earth crashed into our planet in its history. The dinosaurs weren't very safe, were they? Thats if it was a meteor that wiped them out.
Jupiter doesn't protect us all the time, quite a few meteors get through. Fortunately the majority are small enough to make little difference to the area around the crash site.
@veryfuck people are small minded, but its only out of a sense of hopelessness... People tend to not concern themselves with things they have no control over, such as life/death, thats why the uniformed blindly give the responsibility to a God. Sheep
Jupiter is a very large planet compared to earth and has naturally bigger gravity that attracts big terrestrial objects which can sometimes fall on the earth. Jupiter thus takes all the debris to protect earth and its inhabitants.
Everyone knows Jupiter is actually a God that reaches out into the eather and grabs the evil spirits "scientists" call asteroids so that they dont infect earth with more science.

I wish someone made a realistic film about what a collision between our planets in the solar system would look like.

is a serious warning from "someone"....after "you" just kiss the moon....(impact size of earth???)
qtyqty4 2 years ago
this impact interval could be even higher since Jupiter could be receiving impacts that are out of our view.

We're not exactly safe from harm.
Meteors that would destroy most of the life on Earth crashed into our planet in its history. The dinosaurs weren't very safe, were they? Thats if it was a meteor that wiped them out.

If Jesus were really kind ..the life on the Earth could be a bit better..but he Allmighty seems a bit.....absent,isn't it ?

All hail Jupiter for Jupiter is lord of the heavens....ahem.
Jupiter doesn't attract the debris TO protect Earth. You are assigning sentient characteristics to a gas giant, like we did thousands of years ago.
