The Burj Khalifa is full of apartments, and the Armani Residences - Luxury based apartments. It is true that the lower levels are mixed mode, but it also has the record of the highest occupied level at 160. Most floors up to and including 108 are residential.
I was in this buliding the other day on skydeck 88, I have a bad fear of hights it took me 2hours just to get the nerve to get close to the window, you guys must have no nerves, hope you get paid heads, you deserve every cent.
I use to fabricate & install these same kind of window washing systems here in the U.S.A. (Livonia, Mich.) I've "been there & done that" many times before. One thing that surprises me though is the platform that you are using, is a solid panel design?? No wonder your worried so much about the wind in & around the building !! It has no where to pass through your platform!! Not a good design in my opinion, especially near the water, where the wind is always coming from. Great Video though !!
I'm the taller one in this vid, and no our wage wasnt that good! try 20 bucks an hour! i absoloutely LOVED this job though, got heaps of sick photos of sunrises over melbourne! Thanks evryone for the positive comments, i dont work on the tower anymore but it is still one of the best jobs i've ever had! if anyone get a chance to try it i say go for it! :)
Yes, but a jet washer won't work on the massive amounts of caulk and silicone that a new construction like this one's got. Nothing will ever do as good of a job as a man with a squeegee, scraper, and scouring pad. Buckets of water have worked on windows for over a hundred years.
Thanks for sharing this insightful video to everyone who doesn't really know just what goes on in a window washer's job on a tall building. Very informative and enjoyable to watch!
i went to top of that for school thingy the other night went on an edge thing were get in a glass cube and go 3m out and u dont see anything underneth you except for an 88story drop my legs buckled in there lol
they all look like a bunch of junkie window cleaners or is that a prerequisite to being a high rise window cleaner today
Ex back packer window cleaner from around the world the laws are so slack in Australia that i only had alcoholics and junkies as partners to work with when are they going to DRUG test them all? and see how many are left to clean your windows accident waiting to happen OHS WHAT A JOKE..
omg there's no way i'd be able to do that job O_O i'd freak out from the height and probs puke down everyones windows heheeh; imagine watchin TV in ur eureka tower apartment and then u see all this vomit slowly dripping down your window LOL XD
im a window cleaner and i cleaned the New york Times building in manhattan (the one people climbed it twice to the top) it took us 6 months to finish the first post construction wash and the scaffold they have in that building is a monster compared to this little scaffold
Yes indeed - the residents watch while the window cleaners do sexy things on their platform. There is of course an extra service charge levied for this.
you lads are seriously INSANE!! i work on flinders between king and spencer and when gettin to work each mornin i have a glance at the eureka to see if yer there. respect!!! i dont have a fear of heights but wouldnt do yer job
hello i am window cleaner from serbia and i just want to say great job for this mens and i will try too but here in serbia the highest building is just 30 floors.(sory about my english)
Nice to see the comment implying the importance of being a constructive individual. No doubt a constructive individual would be fairminded enough to acknowledge that the two workers in this video in fact do show extraordinary commitment in doing this job at such heights. The job circumstances are not what many people would want or be able to face.
It don't take no balls to do this job, training, lots of savey, journeymen level.Ladders claim more lives, here you'll need 2 failures to kiss the pavement, very safe. After the first 10' it's all the same and if you hit your bean at any distance your scrambled eggs.
It takes more guts to get out of bed in the morning and face life and to be a constructive individual.
Yoos guy made a great video I only hope they pay you a good hourly rate and provide health insurance
So it seem their are at least who think my comments suck ! Well sorry to say to those who don't like my comments, but I know this biz from top to bottom and those with any experience and savvy have to agree with my point of view, those who haven't put in the time and find my comments skewed wouldn't know any better and that just makes them ignorant !
The names of the game fellows in this video should be entered in the Guinness Book of Records. This, after all, is the world's tallest residential building. Surely, cleaning windows at that level counts as some kind of record?
I'm a window cleaner myself in canada and I think you guys ares very brave to clean windows so high ! Congrats man ! I dont get dizzy going up my ladder but I would up a tall building :-)
Thanks for this , very intresting.. I would love to cost for the inital clean, and the cost for the regular quarterly clean!! How long does it take to clean the hole builing internal and external?
Great video except it should come with a warning not to eat egg salad sandwiches at lunch while watching at your desk if you have any fear of heights...
Well done to all concerned. A well prepared and interesting documentary. Has it had any screening on television?
A series of work related films such as this one would be very useful in giving work seekers like senior school students a clear idea of safety issues at work.
Obviously, this job requires intelligence, good judgment and cool nerves.

Why not make a track, rail or groove for the bucket to ride in on the side of the building.. Dangling from cables seems pretty low tech.
