@Carsonetric no....thats John Cowsill. The Beach Boys regular touring drummer....if stamos was there, he'd have his own kit beside cowsill in the back there.
@Carsonetric Mike Love, Bruce Johnston, Scott Totten (on left) (Lead Guitar), Christian Love (on right) (Rhythm Guitar), Randall Kirsch (Bass/Falsetto), John Cowsill (Drums/Percussion), Tim Bonhomme (Keyboards)
@gsgeek540 Thank you so much for setting me straight... I will now proceed to update my descriptions accordingly. It will take a while but it will be worth it. Thaks again for your help!
I've seen mike and Bruce with their guys(minus John Stamos) and I think they're really good I'd love to see Brian, Al, and David with their bands and i've still got hope for a reunion
Mike Love with the Sun and Fun songs, and Brian with the more serious songs. Two bands for various occasions and audiences. It's easy to see that Brian has problem with the fast-pace, fun songs and being a frontman, while Mike is (by far) not on his best doing the Pet Sounds kinda songs.
These guys are the best ever. I happened to sit next to Bruce on a flight last year, and he was telling me they're planning a 50th anniversary tour and include Brian, Al and David. I sure hope that comes to pass, because that is the one thing I would travel and pay Super Bowl prices to see. The Beach Boys are the Super Bowl of American rock music.
Mike is the only true member of the Beach Boys left in the group, Al was in then out going to Denist College and David Marks filled in till Al wanted back in . Then it was so long David.
Brian used to be a better singer than Mike but now that's the other way around......Mike Love is still and always will be the voice of the Beach Boys I'm no fan of how he's treated Al but that's done and over with. Let the Good Vibrations live on! RIP Carl & Dennis I'm sure they're happy that the music lives on 50 years later!
Wilsons or no Wilsons, I gotta give Mike credit for understanding the value of a brand name. In the case, The Beach Boys. The name alone will sell tickets and fill venues with people expecting a certain experience.
So to those new to the business, always promote your brand name and hopefully own it too.
FUN FUN FUN. That's it - this is the most FUN version of the BB's. I've been going since the 70's and I still go. 2-3 times a year. And I sing 'em all and I still just love it. Every time!!
Al's band is great but Mike and Bruce's new Beach Boys line up ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!! I'm quite sure Brian likes what he hears and Carl and Dennis would be proud as can be!
If you get the chance, check out any BB performance(live) from 72' to 75'this don't hold a candle to that era .this is like a cover band next to the REAL beach boys.
I know this will never compare to the real Beach Boys with Al and the Wilson Brothers.......but give this band some credit huh they're really good I saw them in concert last year and it rocked. i used to look at this line up as a joke until I saw them live I changed my mind after that!
I'm as big a Brian Wilson fanatic as you'll find anywhere, but these guys sound great.
I'm not a fan of the lawsuits and negativity, of course, but I think Mike's contributions as one of Brian's better lyricists are very legit. Don't think the basics were ever much in dispute there. And Carl was very much alive during the trial in 1993.
I'm not sure if Carl testified- just making the point that Mike didn't wait until Carl's death to file the claim, as someone below thought- long as Mike did wait. More to that point, I guess, would be that (I believe) Roger Christian and Gary Usher were both dead by 1993 (1994?).
I think Brian actually sued his attorneys for legal malpractice, possibly represented this time by Mike's attorney's. Should NEVER have gone to trial.
I dont think mike waited he filled then because brian recieved money from suing herb albert because murry sold his publishing for relatively low money so mike wanted a piece of that action .
You're absolutely right about that, as far as the timing, spacepatrolman. To play devil's advocate, though, the whole thing did take maybe thirty years to play out. Royalties and credit that were overdue in 1993 were already well overdue when "Endless Summer" was riding the charts in '74...but I don't know what efforts Mike made over the thirty years or what else went on. Anyway, I was really just correcting the error about Carl being gone in 1993- unless the guy meant Brian was gone!
WAtch this and then watch Brian's SMiLE concert and then the Lucky Old Sun concert DVD and tell me how silly this performance looks. NO WILSON'S NO BEACH BOYS..PERIOD. Mike Love should be ashamed of himself. Brians new disc is fantastic - where's love's new disc of Beach Boys material. The guy is a cosmic joke.
all mike love has left is to sing Brians old songs and try to block Brians release of previously un-released material in hopes that the world will have less of an idea how short-sighted and subversive he has been against Brian Wilsons best stuff... There is a BIG reason why Mike Love waited until 2 wilson brothers were dead to sue his COUSIN and claim he co-wrote half of nearly everything... what did he write it on a tambourine? part time lyrics at best. its absolutely shameless. shame on u ML
I saw Brian's TLOS tour in Boston. Honestly it was nothing compared to this bands performances. I saw them in Worcester, MA a few weeks after Wilson and they were amazing.
john stamos?!?!?! a beach boy? seriously... he is an ACTOR not a musician... and he is a bad B actor at that... what a disgrace.... carl is rolling in his grave over that decision.
John Stamos does NOT even hold the credentials of being mentioned in the same sentence as a replacement for Dennis Wilson (or any other drummer for that matter) Love & Johnston should be ashamed of themselves, especially when Brian is releasing A-Class material currently. This is just a travelling jukebox tribute to Brian's works (that his father stole)
@bunnyhead71 I agree with you about Stamos, but...this isn't Stamos! It's John Cowsill.(The Cowsills) LOL. John Cowsill is their main drummer these days. :-)
Actually, Carl performed with Stamos in the band for years. I know I saw them with both Carl and Stamos in 1988 for sure; probably a few other times as well.
they ok

The Beach Boys are America's best ever band.
Their music will always make people dream of endless summers, girls and fun, fun, fun.
They never had to use vulgar words or use artificial things in their music.
Good clean fun and real talent were what the Beach Boys are about.
