  • @missihippie601:Michael was the root, the treetop, the blue sky, and the spirit that moves in all things. Jimmy is fantastic too, but why spend time comparing and contrasting? As Warren Haynes once said, "Your spirit comes through your playing," and Mikey had an amazing spirit. We all connect with different outlets differently, but I've never been so entranced, inspired, or connected to any sound as I was Michael Houser's. But, shit, it's all good.

  • and just so you know, the only bonnaroo i was ever at was the very first one, and honestly, i love this band, but at that first bonnaroo, the widespread panic fans were the only people out of everyone there, causing trouble and not knowing when to call it quits on the substances.........

  • jimmy is the man. and be very careful when talking about art or artists and using words like better and/or worse. different is a more applicable word. it's completely subjective. they didn't live the same life, with the same experiences, so their musical reaction and interpretation to their life, their environment, and their medium of expression, is different. even if they lived the same life exactly, their different DNA would yield different interpretation, and reaction via art. bitch.

  • I have been listening to widespread and seeing them live since 95. Jimmy is good but NO ONE COMPARES to HOUSER.....I HAVE witnessed both and believe me it's not even close....innovagolfdiscs

  • @innova1212 is that a sales pitch snuck in at the end.....?

  • rhcpdave, you will pay for your blasphemy. first, you have obivously never seen jimmy live, second, you must be drunk on dick to even compare the two. Houser is the root, mcconnel is the stem, jimmy is the blossom. evolution, I win.

  • @missihippie601 ...musically speaking and in the overall progression of this band...I totally agree with this creative statement 100%. Excellent illustration of what everyone is arguing about. Each player was are amazing, Houser was obvisouly creative with the "root" guitar riffs of many of WSP songs, George made progrees with his style, and Jimmy just blew it wide open, but from a theroy and improv point-of-view Jimmy is running circle around the other guys...just saying

  • @rhcpdave actually he is very famous for being able to improvise long solo's without repeating a phrase, just different then mikey

  • i was in the pit ha ha ha ha

  • beg to differ, dave, if you were at this show, you would have seen how creative and varied the guy is. show was awesome...

  • Jimmy is no Mikey, he plays too much, too loud and is extremely repetitive

  • really need to check them out at the fuji rock festival!! but i work both days they are playing.... ugh!!!! waited 14 years for them :-(

  • @underflo43tky quit your job then!

  • I was at their next show in austin

  • I feel sorry for anyone that leaves on Sunday at Bonnaroo.............

  • He is the white wizard. BAM

  • He flippin KILLS it on this tune

  • WSMFP!!!!!

  • I was front row!
