  • Love this song. My dad told me it was the number one country song when I was born (March 28, 1961) So, my parents named me Marty after Marty Robbins. Needless to say, I to became a singer and musician. Kind of ironic I know. Funny thing is, my dads name is Ronnie, which is the name of Marty's son of course. I always loved the steel work in this song, very good! I learned to play the steel also, but not near that good! This was true country music! RIP Marty Robbins. We truely miss you!

  • When I think about all the rubbish preached and recommended about this device and that one between the pedal steel and the amp, I listen to this and would announce to all, in the terms of Marty: "That was great!" because they were great and did not need a bunch of electronic tripe to get it right.. The balance was perfect, a perfect example; there are no short-cuts. They were musicians, not electronic magicians. Take note of what is close to perfection.

  • as usual, Marty Robbins just singing naturally and doing his thing --- thanks for sharing

  • wow ... lead guitar player humpin' the bass lines .. jus too cool ..

  • I love how it looks like Marty's having a ball and not afraid to show it. Awesome steel work. Love the bubbly piano fills at the head of the second verse

  • love all your clips of marty. i had never seen him perform, not live, not even on

t.v. i loved his voice for years but that is all i knew, just that beautiful smooth

    voice !!!! thank you Tarquin.

  • Keep coming back to this - superb Pedal Steel. RIP Mr. Johnson.

  • ♥♥ Amazing song, that's lovely ♥♥

  • thanks for your response... Rob.

  • Is this clip from a t.v. show that Marty hosted?

  • @TheRobric01

It's from 'The Best Of The Marty Robbins TV Show' 1968/69.

  • I am listening to this one for the very first time. As usual, Marty did an excellent job with this song. Love it! So sorry he left us so early.

  • I love to hear him singing such a song, since he REALLY had one of the most faithful and happy marriages of any man I've known of. With all the women he could have had, he so loved his wife. What a lucky woman she was!!

  • I don't get tired of listening to this one. I think Marty had one of the best singing voices ever to come out of country music, up there with Ray Price and Jim Reeves. The pedal steel playing by Bill Johnson is superb. Great, real, country music.

  • Bill Johnson, the steel guitar player, has passed away. His funeral is today in Camp Hill, Alabama.

  • @singeveryday His son just passed away in a tragic fire this morning.

  • Who is that on the pedal steel?

  • It tells you on the info, its the great Bill Johnson

  • I never get tired listening to Marty Robbins - it gives me tremendous happiness. It's pity he had to pass away so young

  • Groovy! I'd only heard the Loretta Lynn version. This is great.

  • This song is very dear so much for me. Just

    I remember those day.(My teen-Age when young)

One of the Marty's big hit song in Japan, from Colombia Record.
