  • Song of deep mystery and wonder with a reference or 2 to that 9-11 thang. "an hour went by without a fighter in the sky" Dance dance revolution...

  • love that mellotron, and the snare, killer production, and killer songwriting.

  • Probably the nicest musician you will ever meet!

  • one of the only (infact, the ONLY) good rock songs dealing w the 9/11. That's MITs WALKER MEMORIAL BUILDING at the beginning and throughout- WMBR radio- where John vanderslice filmed after a radio interview. "you said this would never happen; it DID!"

  • Wonderful song!!!

    Winter greetings from Poland:))

  • I saw John Vanderslice play in a converted home in Salt Lake city Utah. Basically it was a backyard show. He was amazing. I at the time didnt know what I was in store for. I loved it. Thanks Utah. Thanks John.

  • this is still probably one of my favorite music videos.

  • Can someone please tell me why this song doesn't have more views? It's AMAZING!!! I love the part where he sings "You said it would happen and just like that, it did"

  • @delusionaldiminutive

Because an average human being is a moron watching lady gaga and black eyed peace videos...

  • Sadly...

  • sometimes a dream is a sad delusion

  • That guy in the beginning looks so much like Jeff Mangum. Anyone else think so?

  • I'm a real musician, and most indie music is really bad. But this is so fantastic.

  • DEMAND 9/11 TRUTH!

  • "second plane hit at 9:02" gonna go down-you said this would happen IT DID- but 'they' got away with it, didn't they?

It is one of only two songs i know of that speaks up about what 9-11 was all about.

one of me TOP 10 tune of the 00s!!

  • gonna see this guy with da Arctic Monkeys on da 3.2.10!!!!!!!

  • @augusto9990

is he going to be the supporting act for AM ? you serious ? im going to see them on 9.2 so that would be awesome :)

where did you hear that ?

  • doesnt he play in a band called Everything Is New????

  • Any ideas on what this song is about?I've been wondering for like a year. 911?

  • Beautiful song...reminds me of REM a bit

  • I hadn't really thought about that... he does kinda

  • This song is so awesome that I died and now I'm dead. Thanks a lot, John Vanderslice.

  • You guys should check out Alias' remix of this song. Its great and maintains the feel of the song. Its in his Collected Remixes album.

  • I started listening to the remix and wasn't really sold on it at first, but then the chorus kicked in. It's pretty good!

  • dance dance revolution....

  • So many great observations...

  • einfach wundervoll!

  • i love his sound!

  • John is great singer and indeed has an interesting voice :)

  • I discovered this song on a CD insert in Spin Magazine called "Different Names for the Same Thing". I saw this title on the track list and was instantly drawn to it. I instantly fell in love with it.

  • me too.

that was what like 2 and a half years ago?

  • Different Names for the same thing is a death cab song... weird.

  • yea and death cab had two songs on the cd

  • DeconstructingGlenn:His works stay with you because you feel compelled to spend some time to understand them.

    THAT IS SO TRUE.

  • One of my favorite songs of all times.

  • that is a shot of MIT's WMBR, one of the best rock stations in the country. Perhps JV had just been interviewed. It's the bldg that looks like East Germany. I follow JV like he be the Greatful dead

  • Sounds like Elliot Smith and Camper Van Beethoven had a lovechild

  • lol me too!

  • chido

  • great song.

  • It sounds like it's from the perspective of a suicide bomber having second thoughts.

  • I wish this wasn't his only video. And, I wish it had enough of a budget to reflect what it's really about, which is 911...

  • That's sorta oversimplifying it, don't you think?

  • *sigh*, I guess so.

  • I almost die laughing whenever he sings Dance Dance Revolution.

  • yea whenever he says dance dance revolution i think he's going to jump out singing dance dance by fall out boy

  • His works stay with you because you feel compelled to spend some time to understand them.

  • you are so right, that is preciesly how i feel, but wasn't sure how to say it! thanks for inspiring me.
