Seasons 1 and 7 are the only seasons America got right (Seasons 2 and 4 are arguable). I have a fear that America will never get it right again with this show. All of the audience (except the tweens) will probably stop watching American Idol and concentrate on shows such as the Voice or X Factor.

It's a shame, really. I'm looking forward to X Factor. However, I hope America can find that watching AND VOTING for American Idol is tradition.

@nikaledesma I think you have it wrong about why j hud was voted off--it wasn't because of "simon's command of judging"...it was more a matter of having three similar contestants (fantasia, latoya, and jennifer) who shared the same fan base and split the votes among the three. It was purely a numbers game at that point and had nothing to do with anything simon said that week. There were plenty others he'd have rather seen go home besides jennifer.

Latoya was Simon's first favorite. But in the latter round, she bored the audience that's why Fantasia won because of her personality.

My favorite that year was Jennifer, shocked when she was voted off after her outstanding "Weekend in New England" performance. She was voted off because of Simon's command of judging. If he doesn't like, he throws bad comments. Maybe it has to do with Jennifer's semi-Broadway style of singing.

For me, nothing is WOW about her or Pia for that matter. Yes, both can sing and hold notes, but when it comes down to it, Pia is attractive with somewhat of a voice. No substance, it's almost yelling. LaToya is okay, I believe, but not someone I wanna hear..it's sleepy voice, no UMPH. P.S, it doesn't matter who wins this stupid show, people vote for all the wrong reasons. No one appreciates real talent anymore. "The Voice" is proof of that. I've seen more vocalists than 3 yrs of American Idol

Latoya was a great voice amongst a season of some of the best voices Idol ever saw. She also was not only the best technical singer of her season, her skill was impeccable, but also one of the best in Idol history. I do believe Fantasia, a once in a lifetime performer with a voice and energy too infectious to resist, deserved to win that season. But that's not to take an ounce away from London, who is a TRUE singer.

Actually if you guys had watched this season.. You would have known that the talent in season 3 was CRAZY!! You had Diana Degarmo, George Huff, Latoya London, Jennifer Hudson, Ricky ???, and Of course Fantasia... Now Latoya should have been in the Final 2 i think.. But Jennifer Vocals there werent were they are now... She actually sucked ALOT had only 3 good performances, But lets be Real ok.. Rather you like Fantasia or not SHE HAD THIS SEASON ON LOCK! Fantasia and Hudson = insane talent. But the guys, take Huff away and holy hell there was nothing left. Jon Peter Lewis? John Stevens? Matt Rogers? Dayam... easily the worst group of guys in any season. A final note: Lisa Leuschner getting robbed out of a Wild Card sing/pick and not making the Top 12 = TRAVESTY.

voice wise, LaToya London has it all (vocals, range) except she really has no fighting spirit of winning or she really has boring personality or maybe she's just down to earth.

Fantasia was soulfully great but quite exaggerated sometimes. Jennifer was really voted out because she sings like Broadway although she has very big voice.

look at this totally robbed contestant ever in AI history. Season's 3 Lisa Leuschner. I believe she would have won that season.

As long as all the notes are hit, it's powerfule ect it has no flaws, you may not personally like it, because of how you convey it. I.E: you may not like the screechiness of it, but regardless it was powerful, the notes were hit flawlessly - it WAS flawless.

No slight to Jennifer Hudson, but she got a break in a big Hollywood studio film. Her talent can't help but to be even more magnified. Still doesn't mean that she was the best singer that season. Like I said earlier, best singer doesn't always win. I think Jennifer is better than Fantasia. Taylor Hicks isn't better than Elliot Yamin or Chris Daughtry, just like Jordan Sparks isn't better than Melinda Doolittle.

I do agree that Fantasia had more personality and J Hud was more of a diva, but Simon and Randy every week said that LaToya was the best of the competition. Just that to win she had to do more than sing well. Plus I'm not knocking Jennifer. She got her opportunity and ran with it. That's what everyone is looking for.

IMO, just because you can reach notes, doesn't mean you necessarily can pull it off (refer to this season's Adam Lambert). All By Myself is range-ier than average, and my sense is she could have sang it a whole step lower and still pulled off the low notes with no problem... and consequently, not sounded like a mortally wounded animal on the highest ones.
