  • you should really show us ur brush settings, cuz its pretty frustrating to have to experiment to find out exactly what you are using

  • I cant say this tutorial taught me hardly anything at all. Trying to recreate the image has been really frustrating as none of my brushes seem to be as smooth as his. All of my round brushes are making circles inside of circles and they are not blending like they do in the tutorial.

  • @warhawk009 I have way over +240 video some should suit you just fine. Keep practicing,

  • @warhawk009 he has his opacity on his brush lowered looks about 10-20 % of black and to get that bleed effect stroke again. do you use a tablet?

  • @warhawk009 I had the same problem earlier until I realized something. And this will help you too if you are working in photoshop. Expand you brush panel and check the options under "brush tip shape". Surely you have spacing in your brush. That's default of photoshop. Reducing spacing to minimum will definitely take care of your prob :3

  • @warhawk009 Also for the blend thing. try using "other dynamics" with opacity control set to pen pressure. Lemme know if that helps.

  • @warhawk009 try playing around with the brush settings. Opacity is fun, as you can see in the video it make each successive "brush stroke" add to the previous strokes - much like water colour painting. The more opacity (see through), the less "paint" applied with each stroke. This increases your control and can help you become confident. Opacity works from "0" to "100" with "0" being completely see through (nothing happens when you brush) and "100" having no transparency at all. Good Luck!

  • @warhawk009 try editing your brushes, especially the roundness and the spacing of it

  • @warhawk009 your problem with the round brushes might be the cause of the opacity of the brush, if it is very low % of opacity it will tend to overlap, the lower opacity greats a more bold look, with slight overlap. not sure, im still new wiht this whole thing, but i had the same problem as you! but this helped me :)

    good luck

  • Can you share your brush settings that you used around 00:20? Tried with default settings, but i can't get the pen pressure settings right.

  • @L0ll13M1X Link below

  • what's that purple spray tool you use at 2:15?

  • Comment removed

  • whats the brush you use at 1:40 ..... I so want to know that please answer me!

  • @TheCTFProductions it is a squeezed square, I think he also says that a while after

  • how come i didn't find this on ur channel earlier ????

  • thank you, needed some schooling on the color blocking. can go ahead now. thx !!!

btw, saw you speak dutch. I'm from belgium.

  • @stef187fr No problem. ;-)

  • is this all on 1 layer??

  • your too pro

  • awesome man

  • never finished??

  • that picture looked better than all of mine together, even when it wasent nearly half finished :D

  • @162133740 I've been working as a concept art since 2003 so... no worry, practice then you will be better in time. ;-)

  • @162133740 I really found that tutorial helpful. Thanks!

  • @LoriMiller1111 Thanks. Glad to hear. ;-)

  • your not drawing girls?!?

  • Which Photoshop is that?

  • @valttu94 CS2

  • In your last video, you said you use full opacity a lot, but based on my doodles and your video, it seems like you aren't using full opacity. It looks like you use a lower opacity brush for the general shapes, and then use full opacity for refining and detailing. Can you give me some idea of when you use full opacity and when you don't?

  • @prometheuszero9 Mostly correct, use high to full when you know exactly that it should be there. Mostly in finalize stage. Check your inbox for more detail.

  • @idrawgirls Can I get some instructions on that as well, if you don't mind me asking? I love the way you draw, but I can't seem to grasp your tutorials. It's my fault for lacking a full understanding on some of these brush features.

  • @retardedusers If you are new, it will be difficult to comprehend of course.

  • I love background painting. you're amazing.

  • Could you please place the values you used for your brushes in the description? It would help a lot of us out...

Anyway, awesome vid! I love how it starts really sketchy and then in the end looks realistic! Keep doing this :)

  • @funGODfun It makes no sense. Value changes according to the light. I will send you some useful articles, check your inbox.

  • @idrawgirls hey can u send them to me to prettty pllleaasee

  • @ladiva0404 OK. ;-)

  • what is that scraping like tool he used at 1:44

  • @MrLol3r Squeeze your default round brush and it will flatten.

  • Why is it when I use my brus tool to add color and detail the brush just looks ugly

  • @cheerioinmilk Do you have correct value? Do you have correct edges? Check your PM

  • @idrawgirls Holy... Wow thank you so much those will greatly benefit. Yeah my photoshop edges just looked really ugly and I was not getting any results.

  • why does mine come out "cartoony"?

  • @21centuryg Check your value and your saturation. If your value and hue are right, it will not look cartoony. Check your PM.

  • thanks i am new in dg painting this vi d eo really help me hope iam become a pro by ur guide lines

  • @samar91349 Awesome! always love to hear that. Keep it up!

  • what is the program that you use??

  • how much does it take for you to finish a painting?

  • @thepanther94 You mean how long? This one is about a little over an hour. As for how much? I don't sell my paintings thru individuals, I only do conceptual work for companies.

  • @idrawgirls omg an hour?! jesus , why do my drawings take such a long time? :(( i suck at drawing

anyway you're very very very very very very good at drawing! i find it very hard to paint because i always find myself creating new layers so i won't mess up the drawing (though it isn't very good :( )

oh i noticed that you don't used the eraser at all even if you mess up a little , IF you mess up smth.

if i would mess up smth in my drawing i would freak out T_T

  • @idrawgirls

i forgot to ask you smth. You mean you do conceptual work for big gaming companies? (can u pls give some names )

and secondly do you draw for a living? i mean is this your job too?

  • what brush did you use in the start?

  • This is all one one layer, am I correct?

  • @AsharahWolfsong I think he uses different layers for colour overlay and "stuff like that". You apply the colour everything and just erase the areas you don't want that colour.

  • dude u r fucking awsome. i am very good at drawing but i have a massive problem with drawing/painting backgrounds ill copy u until i become better. ty 4 the vids. =)

  • "Now you doin' some bush"

So that explains your name D:

  • How do you switch the opacity/darkness so fast?? like some around @ 0:41

and what brush was that @ 1:34?

do u know of any speedpainting brush pack?thanks.

  • This is like having Skwisgar teach you how to paint! "Yeahs, so yous wants to starts out with somes big shapes and... then likes splats! with your brush..."

  • pretty good so far bro!

  • My brother: So are the tuts of this guy helpful?

Me: Yeah *I hit pause* they're really great and good with the info, but his turn of phrase is unbelievable. He keeps saying "things like that" and "kinda like" all the time. And there's that "STUFF". Lot's of it. "Stuff this! Stuff that!"

    Bro: Ha, really? Hit play.

*I hit play and the first thing I get to hear is STUFFFFFFFFFFFF* hahhaha!

    Teach', you made my day!

  • u sound like asian ... r u asian?

  • What is that program?

  • @tkkiba1 I'm not sure, but i think it's regular Photoshop in full screen mode.

  • Hey,

Can you tell me what software your using in this please?

  • Which photoshop do you use? I have Photoshop CS4, can I do something like this with that?

  • @DragonMistressX you can probably paint something like that with any photoshop 7 and above. It's the brushes you need to worry about :)

  • @idrawgirls What dimensions do you usually paint in? Just wondering, it seems like it makes a difference.

  • What background color did you start out with? It could just be plain white but I can't tell.

  • How about idrawstuff.

  • whats the name of this program?

  • @cdjmk1000 Photoshop

  • @EpicHawk thank you

  • "kinda" good video. :)

  • Great job, I enjoy your videos.

  • He's the Bob Ross of digital painting

  • pleaseee sharee your brushes :( i want them!!

  • hey,can you make a urban landscape?i think its a interesting thing

  • qwhat paint program do you use?

  • 2:33 So now I'm trying to add a little more of you know... That was epic!

  • what program is this?ty,,and where can i download this??

  • @markdeson15 It's Adobe Photoshop.

  • Vote up if you think the name of the website should change...

  • @JulioNicoletti To WHAT?!!! ;) Any good name or better out there that has not been taken? XD

  • @idrawgirls

    How about...

    besttutorialsevar . com?

    :P

  • @idrawgirls

    website name is perfect..!!

  • @idrawgirls To be fair man, the channel made me think you were some kind of loser nerd before I actually saw how talented you are haha

  • @idrawgirls 'Idontjustdrawgirls'? xD kidding kidding, I quite like your site name.

  • @idrawgirls Make it, Idrawamazingstuffthatotherpeoplecantmake

  • @idrawgirls how bout your name? you have a nice name, nice voice and nice face, im glad youv started adding short vids of you explaining things better in person and im sure that will help you with ur site, fans and fame. also dont think anyones guna be stealin ur name anytime soon :) love your work man

  • @TheEmzyloo LOL thanks, I own that URL also, but it is strictly for professional work and portfolio. But since I am not interested in working for any company at the moment. It is not up. But soon. Thank you though. ;-)

  • Wow looks a very professional tuto. I keep in my favorites.

  • i found it really useful thanx for posting!

  • purplish :D

  • so are the different parts of the picture on different layers?

the grass on one, the closer mountains on one and the background on one?

  • brush settings?

  • i dont understand how to choose the right colors >.<

Anyone can help me? (im talking about darker and lighter tones)

  • @amassasa Study color theory.

  • @amassasa what do you mean? complimentary colors are always good pairs. Like purple and yellow, red with green, orange and blue etc. darker in foreground, lighter in background.

  • @amassasa do you mean at the start of the drawing? when he has his 3 seperate values down?

  • LOL... "and now you do some bush" hahahahahhaha good drawing though :D

  • you use a tablet?

  • @FatalFlaw2008 without a tablet its kinda hard to draw a good picture on the pc

  • @Dummweltschutz I know. It's like drawing with a potato with a mouse, I guess I meant, what kind.

  • nice tutorial...but i was also lookin forward to the dragon... got an epic feel when i saw the thumbnail

  • What is the tool at 1:52 ?

  • only brushes ?

  • You could have also used 3 layers to help keep the distances more defined.

  • I wanna be able to paint "things that like"

  • To achieve the look that you do, do you use just one layer or multiple?

  • Hey, love your videos. They help me alot, although there's something I don't fully get.

When you lay down the basic outlines of the mountains, you use a lower than 100% opacity right? Is this also the case when you're done with the outlines and fill in the details? l

Like after 06:15 you say: "You have all the value you need." Wouldn't a low opacity brush destroy these values?

    help me out please!

  • this helped me out a lot, thnx!

  • this is not a tutorial... it just shows what your doing... besides of what you said of the colors..

  • It makes sense to use the existing colors in the painting to add details in it. I always have the problem of adding additional colors when they already exist. I wish I never have to use the dodge or burn tool.

  • what brush do you use for the mountains? is there some where i can download it?

  • That was simply AMAZING! First oen of your vids I've watched. This year I've begun a 2 year Advanced Diploma of video game art at TAFE/college. We began our first few lessons of concept art the same way you began your video, simple blocking in with the foreground, mids and background, with minimal detail, just the basics. This is the level I want to get to though! Might I ask, have you got pen tilt turned on to adjust the brush shape? Hard to tell with the speed of the video. [=

  • great video, butI think you should make yourself more custom brushes to enhance your painting

  • what opacity do you use on your brushes?

  • @PeacefulParadox from the looks of it, he's using opacity jitter set to pen pressure.

  • youu are the bestt i love every video, i learn so much!!

  • I'm pretty good.. I've had no real training.. I bought this guys tutorials, and I was better INSTANTLY.. buy his tutorials their worth every cent!!!

  • why the hell in the thumb-nail... i saw something like 3 headed dragon at the background???

  • that's how people do business on the internet :D :D they LIEEEEEEEEE

  • @aguirreruru im confused as well D: i wanted to see a dragon D:

  • @aguirreruru totally agree

  • same same

  • @aguirreruru same lol

  • @aguirreruru you're insane >.>

  • @aguirreruru LOL, Gotcha! There actually is but I cut that out because it gets too long. Though the link below the video will show you step by step images. It's just three brush strokes, really. ;-)

  • which paint programm to you use ?

  • Whats your brush settings for coloring?

  • You make it look so easy

  • i love how you say "things like that" or "and stuff like that" all the time XD

  • O_o that was.... amazing o_O

  • That was just the kind of tutorial I wanted to see. I rescently have been tasked with painting landscapes, and its a bit different task then handling smaller scale models, characters, and buildings.

  • how do you switch brushes and sizes and everything so fast???

  • the video is sped up... hes not really painting at that speed

  • he said he worked on it for a half an hour and jsut sped it up

  • great job. how can i learn how to do that in the Los Angeles area?

  • awsome!

  • This is amazing!

  • I wonder what were you thinking from 0:30 to 0:35 :P

  • yep llamarea.

  • you color with multiply? or normal?

  • probably multiply, the color sits on top of the last image.

  • thank you for sharing your knowledge sir. We all appreciate it.

    -J

  • 1) whats your opacity/flow value? i cant seem to settle with it for myself

    2) do u do any planning, or do u just go to with flow? i cant rly tell what youre ever trying to do

    amazing job, btw

  • Wow!

    I'm totally impressed!

    You're amazing!

  • Great job!!! I'd like to know what types of brushes you're using.
