  • God, i just live this version! Where exactly did you get the DVD?

  • As Sweeney...

    As Sweeney Todd...

THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET...*begins to walk off stage* (shit, we never finished!) STREET!

  • @IISCOOL67 DAMMIT i laughed.

  • Ok im sick and tired of people comparing the show and the movie...The movie is great and its what introduced me to these characters and the show is fantastic and it takes a large amount of skill to perform it.So cant we just agree that each version of sweeney is perfect is its own way? :) Personally i love all the versions!

  • @cesarman1234 IKR!!!! the movie and this are two completely different masterpeices!! even though it is the same musical you cant even compare them to eachother!!!!!!

  • I can only imagine Tim Burton looking at this and saying: "wow, so much emotion in this show! I have an idea... How about we make a film out of this show, with the same lines and musics, but... with no emotion!! Like... at all! Wouldn't that be great?!"

  • TYSM 4 posting this version I really LOVE it!!! I like all versions I have seen but this is my fave. :D

  • stephen sondheim is a lyrical beast and a giant of composers.

  • I know that every director has their own Sweeney Todd version and all of them are marvelous.

  • I'm probably repeating what someone else has said, but I can't pick a favorite version. This, the new movie, and the other productions I've seen each have some things that are better than the others. That's the beauty of theatre, every production is like seeing the story anew. Marvelous show, thanks for uploading :)

  • Anthony and Johanna look too old..

  • Beggar Woman looks like a zombie

  • @Okikun87 True

  • Outstanding! Thank you so much for taking the time for uploading. I greatly enjoyed watching.

  • Like I said in part 1 of this 23 part mass of satisfaction: I felt fear for the first time I saw this as a kid. Now i get the thoughts of so much more for Sweeney, something scarier than this but stays its course. Ugh, if it were only possible.

  • I was completely thrown off by Bamford and Pirelli's soprano part. Not expected it but still good. GTFO it's Sweeney!

  • Door slam. nuff sed.

  • The need to make movie versions of the newer Broadway shows too!! Like Lion King!

  • You know what the actress playing Johanna is better when she's not singing in such a high key. She's more a Mezzo-soprano but she spends most of the play singing soprano. It really is a shame, just listen to her at the beginning of the Ballad and you can see what I'm describing

  • They need to release this on DVD this is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better than that excuse of a movie they made.

  • @brujah723 excuse my saying this -

    ARE YOU RETARDED?

This is basically what's ON THE DVD. It's the version i have ON DVD.

  • @khesed

Do you have to be a jerk about it? Didn't know and there is no need for that kind of tone man.

  • @khesed i think Brujah723 was reffering to the johnny depp version as the "excuse of a move" and if so i agree this is much better than that crap.

  • @brujah723 this is on dvd! lol

  • I've been looking for this ever since I saw the movie. It was amazing, thanks for posting!

  • I love how his hair turned white, like it should have been:) poor toby, i love him so much....

  • Is this on DVD? I'd love to own this!

  • im not so sure on the ending with this. The death of Sweeney and his wife together is supposed to make an impact, but it feels like it was all part of the show all of a sudden. Still thought the whole show was brilliant

  • wow. at first i thought that i still liked the Movie version better but in the end it sort of changed my mind. now i dont know which version i liked better, they were both so good. I love what Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, and Tim Burton did to the music, acting and directing, but i also love what this cast and crew did here, right down to the set. BRAVo/a.

  • WHERE DID LOVETT COME FROM?? she just comes out of nowwhere!

  • @benjamminjensen She materialized from her ashes! :D

Love how creepy Angela just pops up suddenly.

  • THIS I AMAZING ♥

  • Simply brilliant.

  • HOLY SHIT GUYS THAT BEGGAR WOMAN WAS LUCY!!!

  • I really missed this song in the movie.

  • Something intriguing about this version that you dont find in all of them (at least all the ones ive seen on Youtube) is that once the whistle thingy blows, everyone (with the exception of sweeney and lovitt) stop being their characters and start being 'the chorus'. its actually quite creepy.

    :)

  • Who says this is the touring version?

  • @darkknight07100 i call it that because it's a recorded-for-tv production.

  • @darkknight07100 because it was lol..... this ovbiously not the OBC cause Len Cariou was the Original Sweeney not George Hern although the soun EIRILY similar...

  • Let this be a lesson, which I always take to heart, from this story - revenge NEVER solves ANYTHING because if you do seek revenge, it will make you twice as bad as the people who have hurt you. And such as a path that Sweeney Todd took can cause a dangerous fate. Learn to forgive your enemies, seek justice and you will come TWICE as strong.

  • Woah, Angela pops up out of nowhere!

  • I love the movie, but of all of the things that they had to cut, why did it have to be THIS song?!?! I get that it might not have worked, BUT STILL! Also, George Hearn is just awesome as Sweeney.

  • This was amazing!! his reaction to Lucy's death was alot different from the movie! (I have to say I like it a little better) I still love the movie tho! their both equally fantastic in their own ways :)

  • at 2:53, Mr. Hearn as Sweeney Todd gives a perfect look that says "There now. You know my story now LEAVE ME ALONE!" and slams the door.

  • may be a stupid q lol, but did u add in the credits to a cammed play or was it filmed and sold to the public?

if yes were can i get it lol.

also thnx so much for the upload !

  • @Gotenks7Kid It's on DVD now! Check Amazon you can get it for $5.

  • Now I know how to prepare all my beef (or other ehem "meats")! Three times through a grinder.... three times, to make it all tender and oh so juicy!

  • Omg! The slamming of the door gives me goosebumps! Omg I LOE that bit :D

  • I LOVE THIS! But Beadle kinda scared me when he entered. I mean, he really didn't have to sing that high lol

  • The ending...... HOLY MACOROLE!!! I was not expecting this to be that good! thanks for posting. :D

  • Such an amazing show.

  • You can tell that clapping was dubbed on, The clapping didnt stop when the actress who played johanna came out and bowed. No one would clap that performance >< lmao. She is a good singer but.. Wtf

  • It amazes and slightly disturbs me that this was actually a bed-time story for children at one point. xD Excellent piece of theatre!!

  • Why did this have to go off broadway? Now they have the AWFUL revival. -.-

  • This story has a moral. Basically it means not too lie, (like Mrs. Lovette) and that revenge can lead to worse things. (Like Sweeney -- He killed all those people for nothing) This reminds me of Oliver Twist, because it is all planned out and it forshadows.

  • @ZandMstudios Another moral, what goes around comes around. Sweeney cut people so he got cut, Mrs Lovett cooked people so she got pushed in the oven.

  • great

  • This musical is st its heart, a morality play. There is a structure and a purpose; they are not ghosts but are delivering an epilogue to the story they have just play out for the audience. It is a theatrical form/convention. And yes, Len Cariou was the original Sweeney.

  • It has many points...Only a idiot wouldnt see them..

  • Perelli Has No Mustach

  • no, REALLY.

  • I Just Noticed It Till Now.......Just Don't Get Mad OK?

  • @nocturnal247 LOL. NO.

  • They are supposed to be ghosts - with the exception of people like Anthony who never died to begin with.

    Brilliant eh?

  • tht would`ve been awesome if this song was in the movie

  • increduble

  • dunno, maybe they're actors?xD

  • Touring??? I thought George Hearn and Angela Lansbery did Sweeney on Broadway.

  • Nope, Len Cariou starred as Sweeney on Broadway

  • Did Hearn do it after Cariou at all?? Srry for all the questions, I'll just look it up.

  • Yes.

  • aww both versions rocked :) one doesnt have to be better than the other!

  • I LOVE the staging of this version of the Finale.

  • People can be idiots. Don't thumb-down just because you don't agree.

  • wow. this was amazing.

guys, its kind of stupid to compare a movie and a musical on stage... there's a difference.

  • didn't like 1982 tour to much i like the 1 with Len Cariou better

  • i dont know whos better johnny or george they both captivated me with their voice im stuck!

  • i love this show... i was s happy when i bought this dvd

  • this was impeccable.

    :]

i love you so much for posting it.

    haha

  • this is super, but the movie was incredible. These people did a great job, but johnny and helena did better.

  • I like the play much better. The singing is fun , great actors. Thanks

  • This os cool =-) your the first person I've seen who uploaded the whole entire play

  • Phenominal, the movie is something a high school play would be compared to this.

  • I like the play but I think I like the movie a smidge better then the play.

    For three reasons:

1: joanna's singing voice is better in the movie

2: I love tim burton and johnny depp

3: I guess theres only two... XD

  • Aww, they're all so cute when they come out for their bows!!!

They just run and skip in, bow bigtime, and skip out! It's so adorable!!! Like Toby, and Lucy, and Johanna, and Pirelli's bow is funny... Gawd.. I love this play so much.

  • Oh, haha

    Nevermind.

I was too stupid to watch the credits the first time. LOL

  • What's Pirelli's real name?

    Please???

    He is AMAZING!

  • Thanks.

  • It is really good of you to upload the whole thing, khesed. It is wonderful, Thank You!

  • I love how the ending for the play was, with the slamming of the door by Sweeney. However, it probably wouldn't have worked in the movie nearly as well.

I like both the movie and the play rather equally. Each brought minor irritations and parts that I liked in both, so I can't complain.

Thank you Khesed for uploading all of it!

  • You are most welcome.

  • @raspberrytears It wouldn't have worked in the film because the Ballad of Sweeney Todd (I believe) is the actors speaking directly to the audience and not the characters narrating the story.

  • In my opinion the ending in the movie was better.....i HATE tobys voice!!

  • Amazing. That gave me chills. The movie was good but in my opinions plays are always so much better than movies. Thank you so much!!!

  • Oh my gosh, you can see a bunch of 80's people!

    Wonderful musical!

  • Brilliant! The movie pales in comparison! I'm really glad I found this... :D

  • THANK YOU! I totally agree with you, and you're the only one I know who agrees.

  • i still like the movie, but only so much. Burton and the lot committed a LOT of sins concerning details. But i am not spoiling it for people who have only seen this video.

  • I agree. They really made a movie on the story by Christopher Bond, not the Sondheim musical. It shouldn't have been based on the musical. Otherwise, I might have liked it better.

  • They say revenge shall lead to hell ...

  • ...but everyone does it and seldom as well...

  • As Sweeney ...

  • ...as Sweeney Todd...

  • the demon barber of fleet street

  • Darn...I was hoping to say...STREET!

  • i'm sorry.
