  • Beautifull!

  • it sounds like Giordani's vocal peak was long before his days of fame (which I believe to be nowadays)

  • one of my favorites,,,,

  • in questo periodo della carriera dalle registrazioni mi somiglia un sacco a Giuseppe Di Stefano

  • Fleming sounds sooooo beautiful here!!

  • Giordani is the greatest!!!

  • yes he is right now the leading tenor in the world saw him in ernani at the met he is wonderful

  • Stupendi!!!

  • Very good. They are both admirable in this (uncut?) dofficult duet, even if he has some early pitch problems. I like his timbre but he could do with more refined subtlety and piano singing. Renee is very young here, inexperienced, her technique still pure, not yet marred by wronf repertoire choices and jazzy affectations. She is superb, and what long breath control! Despite its score cuts, or even because of them, my favorite version remains the 1953 Callas/di Stefano/Serafin recording.

  • Simply the best you'll EVER hear!

  • Bel Canto !!

  • Superb! Superb Superb AV

  • There are an amazing duet!!!

  • @disquand Renee and Marcello great together.

  • Good voices, but musically is a lot boring!!!

  • WTF! WHY DID SHE NEVER RECORD FUCKING BELLINI!!!!

OOOOH! thanks for posting!! this is legendary!

  • @DonRolini because her bel canto fucking SUCKS. taking a duet or aria out of context does NOT mean you can or should sing an entire role.

  • i want that dress LOLOLOLOL BRAVA!

  • She's great -- can't stand him.

  • Bravi!

  • he's a bit sharp on the first d whatever it is so that one was prolly actually a d natural..:-P

  • hahahaha...i love miss renee's hair and dress! haha its a good thing she is fucking amazing!

  • true!

have you seen what the algnas, fleming and zajick wore in the 25th anniversary gala? they all sound like gods but looked something else.

  • hahaha was watching it last night, totally. zajick in this concert doing the trovatore duet with pav. is also mind blowing.

  • What a pair of beasts!!!!! Specially "Il tenorazzo"!!!!!

  • maybe it was the damn ugliest dress ever made at that time, but absolutely overpassed by the funny bundle of blue feathers of Inva singing l'elisir with Placido Domingo. My god, their staff must have hated them, to let them go to the stage with those clothes!!!!!

  • He's most comfortable above the passagio.

He still has the top very much in tact and thrilling when he nails high c's and d's....

His voice is enormous, sometimes unwieldy.

But he's really no longer a coloratura tenor; should stick to Verdi, Puccini and later composers. Enzo (Gioconda) is probably his signature role; Cielo e mar can be really thrilling when he's on.

  • great!

  • WOW...RENEE SANG REALLY WELL IN THIS..VERY STYLISTICALLY. It's a wonder that singers sing well and very attuned to style before they become STARS; after which all intelligence have a way of leaving them...wonder why?

  • When they're small, people tell them what's wrong, how to improve. When they're big, no one dares. Mistakes aren't corrected, but get worse. To her credit, she's really tamped down the "Renee-isms" lately.

  • giordani's voice sounds so fresh.

  • hOLY mACKEREL!! wHAT A CLIP THIS ONE IS- TOO MUCH, WHAT SINGING, THESE TWO MAKE THE OLD-TIMERS SEEM LIKE THEY HAD lung troubles!!

  • The singing is extraordinary, but the last part of the duet has been transposed a half tone down: these are no high D´s, but D flats

  • What a high D by Giordani!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know if he still sings like this, but if anyone knows where and when he is singing anything like this with high high notes ~ please tell me!!

  • I think he still has a pretty good high range. I know he was still singing high D's in the last Met Il Pirata.

  • @hotazzoperastud aren't they c#'s?

  • Wow. Giordani is the kind of tenor I always wished I was. Such gorgeous color & line to his voice. His top is just to die for here. Fleming, surprisingly enought isn't on my nerves (other than that damn ugliest dress ever made). She still gets croony in spots though.

  • That dress truly is out of control! Rock that side-pony, Renee...rock it!

  • Ha ha ha ha hahahahaha!! :-)

  • I CANT EXPRESS how happy I am for this! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • oh renee, a sidepony tail..really???

  • Giordani étais au commencement de sa carrière sa voix étais plus petite qu,aujourd'hui

ce sont deux grands artistes bravo giordani et Fleming

  • Very surprising! Thank you so much for sharing this!
