My memories of Holden Beach in the '90's have been wonderful, but for the home owners there a nightmare! My first time there, I was impressed by the placcards on the fronts of the homes, showing the hurricane symbol, the name, and the year. In '96, the last time I was there, the previous storm (Bertha?) had made landfall there, taking off the south end of the Island, washing away 20+ homes, and damaging so many others that they had to be torn down.
