This is my absolute favorite Monkee moment of all time. And one of my favorite lines/moments of all time. I am not even sure why but every time I hear or even think about Micky and the "holly and mistletoe" and Mikes reaction I laugh painfully for a few minutes. I dont know why but I still laugh every time and I saw it for the first time over 20 years ago.
Trivia: they're singing Deck the Halls with lines taken from Walt Kelly's classic comic strip "Pogo Possum", who, with the other creatures of the Okefenokee Swamp, could never get the words right - so it came out like this:
yes, The Monkees were much funier. I wish they would run their episodes again. Big Time Rush. I know why they call them that. They Rushed the show on the air before they thought it through....
haha my dad told me, as my little sister was watching Big Time Rush, that he thinks the people that wrote big time rush watched this show. i now see why he thinks that haha...but these people are much better just saying haha
@rockerdave43: I'm only 17. I'm a HUGE Big Time Rush fan......well, I read in an article that "The Monkees" and Big Time Rush were always getting compared to eachother...so, I looked it up. & it absolutely is!!!! I personally think it's cool how it's seems like history repeated itself...even though The Monkees were before my time!!! :) Basically....I liked your comment, because your 100% right!!! Oh my gosh....I think this is SO cool!!!!!
This is a fun scene. Mike and a lady fight over a tree--that was funny. I also enjoyed seeing Mike trying to chop a tree down. Poor Micky! I felt bad when he developed poison ivy. I have seen this Christmas episode. This is a classic!
i still think the holly and mistletoe is the funniest lines of the entire series.i remember the first time i heard it i laughed till my stomach hurt and had tears flowing.
MIKE! I FOUND SOME HOLLY AND MISSILE TOE! Holly and missile toe!? HOLLY AND MISSLE TOE! Oh wait thats not holly! THATS NOT HOLLY?! Thats not even missle toe! NOT EVEN MISSLE TOE?! No! WHAT IS IT?! Its commonly known as Poison Ivy!
Amazon is your best bet. But, you can only buy the X-Mas show on it's on VHS. If you want this episode on DVD, you have to purchase the entire second season. But, it's worth it. And, on Amazon, you can get the second season for 40 bucks (give or take a buck). I bought it for 80 bucks! Happy Searchin' :)
Yes. Two seasons. And, there are commentaries on select episodes by the Monkees! Also, they put all the old cereal commercials they did when the series was on the air. It's a real treat. Take care.
omg I love The Monkees! I can't believe I have never seen the Christmas episode before. I've seen a lot of the episodes but not all of them. This lone looks awesome just like the rest though. I'm glad I stumbled upon this.
Oh, God, that exact thing happened to me years ago. My younger sister walks up to me with some leaves and says that she found some pretty leaves and handed them to me. Of course, by the next day I had a terrible rash on my forearms. And she didn't get anything.
I'd say that you stayed away from Fishywoman, too and other people like her the way that your sister did. But, talking about doing something, it would've been a nice thought to go near those that you didn't like and made them contract the rash since they're full of it and that's why we do stay away from society. Remember, it's better to give than to receive-that's what God says to do,too.
when I was at my local WalMart, my mother and my stepfather were with me-there was a Fishywoman behind us who was checking out three half gallons of ice cream and like what my mother said,"Maybe she was going to have a party with it." I said,"probably so." Whatever I love is what she loves and my stepfather is equally the same way. Way too cool. This standard is the only way.
I love where Micky covered up Melvin's eyes to prevent him from seeing the ugly fight between Mike and Fishlady. Butch Patrick was hilarious as that kid and the guys loved working with him.
well, it's like what they say-"no scruples for those that are as dumb as rocks and that goes for the joker's wild,too"-Fishy Lady got her up and comings but, Melvin sure did love the taste of the soap
Forget Davy, Micky did survive the classicly common case of poison ivy because his temperature did check out normal as sure as a number is like the perfect 110
Omg I loved it. I nor seen this episode I want too now
