Hi there Doctor Chenique my is Jairo Ramos I went to your school for a wile you probably don't remember me, my brother and I gave you the frame picture for your office, many years back, good to see you doing what you love I hope I can and visit I would like to start training again to get in better shape I hope to see you soon. P.S God Bless
Back when men were soldiers by trade, there were titles like Master At Arms. Is that unacceptable as well?
Too many guys who have decided to take methods from Asians but discard the system of rank and respect fancy themselves as "experts", but when they get on the mat with guys like Chenique the difference is skill and ability becomes obvious.
Just because a guy wears a black polo shirt and some black chinos and calls everything he does "tactical" doesn't mean that he's an authority.
First off, if you don't like martial art titles, don't use them.
Second, these men with the master and grandmaster titles have been studying these arts for well over 20-30 years. How long does it take to become an MD? 10 years including interning?
No one has any problem with the titles that these men have. Be it chief surgeon, specialist or expert. Most people who have problems with those titles haven't put in the years to appreciate that dedication and discipline.
I train in Combat Jujitsu as well. (Get up every morning at 5:30 & train for an hour with my partners...)I've seen a LOT of martial artists over the past 15 years, and I'm telling you this dude is REALLY impressive!
You do realize that the man in the video is a grandmaster? I studied in that dojo and even though I'm not a black belt I learned some very effective combat skills that far surpassed what I learned in Kenpo Karate.
"Professor Chenique established his form of Jujitsu and christened it "Atemi-Ryu Jujitsu.""
Well I guess that settles that.
Not that there's anything wrong with creating your own style, since everyone has their own style. My problem is with people creating their own style and calling themselves a grandmaster.
The title of grandmaster is reserved for people that have mastered every aspect of a martial art. If you created the art then I think that you can rightfully claim that title.
Didn't you read about all his accomplishments?
I think that what you're saying is both very insulting and ignorant. You wouldn't tell a medical doctor that he doesn't know what he's talking about cause MDs study for about 8 years. Doctor Chenique has dedicated over thirty years of his life to the Martial Arts.
If you think grandmaster = mastered a martial art then you really misunderstand what a martial art is.
A martial art is not a collection of techniques, but rather a training method to discover the best techniques.
Also, I'm sure there are plenty of astrologers and alchemists who spend years of their life studying their respective fields. That doesn't make their knowledge any good.
Looks abit messy but works pritty good and doing it fast is more real this guy would kick ass in most situations and if it was for real he'd put loads more in to it you know he would hes trained for that day for ages
Easy. When you disarm the perpetrator, you are now in control. There is no need to go any further (like cutting his throat). Anything after disarming is viewed (in the eyes of the law) as excessive or extreme force.
Well, if someone comes at me with a knife they're not getting an ounce of mercy. The last thing on your mind in a life and death situation is the possibility of going to jail. The fight or flight response takes over and that most primal of instincts takes over. Its the will to survive. If survival means slitting a guy's throat who came at me with a deadly weapon with the intent on using it I see no reason to waste the guy.
Are you serious? You are taking a step even further beyond what isn't already the norm. Most conflicts are not armed, and fewer still involve a single party havng two weapons or more...I often carry a knife and sometimes something else, but I have never pulled it on anyone to begin with.
I will certainly not to slit the attacker's throat when he's disarmed, but I probably will break his arm or choke him out using BJJ, he deserves it IMHO.
What ifs are for those that are afraid to act. If you react like Dr. Chenique here then you will probably kill the guy before he brings out the other weapon. True you never know what is going to happen, but that is why you fight like you life depends on it, not like it is a sport.

Very impressive. I've trained martial arts over 20 years. With all the junk on You Tube rarely do you get to see this quality of martial arts.

The only thing deadly about this technique is that if you try to use it you will probably get stabbed and killed.

And if you know what you're doing, you'll be doing something that looks absolutely nothing like what this guy did in the video.

And what the fuck does grandmaster mean? What do you have to do to get that title?
What is this international body that awards such titles?
Oh wait that's right, anyone can create their own style and call themselves a grandmaster. It doesn't mean anything.

Why not check out the Atemi-Ryu Jujitsu site and see for yourself?

Don't forget to mention that after you do that, you will go to prison. Looks good, but the consequences are too high.

No not necessarily, remember you are being attacked with deadly force, therefore its self-defence as you "feared for your life"!

Explain to me how you'll go to prison when that guy came out you with a knife?

How can you be completely sure s/he is totally disarmed though, what if s/he pull out a brand new .22 after you took his knife?
