I think it's awesome and who ever desn't appreciate a different take on classical music is retarded. He has a lot of talent to be able to take this and make it more current. Not everyone always wants to hear Bach how it was originally played.
well i heard no hip hop in this really, and you really need to open your mind and respect all sorts of music. saying that it is an atrocity just shows everyone what an ignorant fool you are.
@jcreeves wow.. what an intelligent metaphor.. comparing the deaths of thousands in cotext to music you don't grasp.. so heres an intelligent response... RETARD
im not saying its bad, cause its great, but i dont see why they put hip-hop in the title. As someone whose is involved in the hip hop comunity i dont see the link :/
Ummm... aren't you meant to play in tune before you go into public with this? I'm sure your project is worthy but honestly many 5 year old Suzuki students play better. Good luck though!
It's not out of tune. It is called dissonance. There is a big difference. After hearing Dr. Roumain lecture you would understand why he composes his music in this way. I believe he is one of the most brilliant composers and musicians of our time.
I Love It...! I appreciate his music, that he's been playing the violin since pre-school age. Listen to his Album titled "etude4violin&electronix", along with his compilation with the Lark Quartet! I love this Dred Violinist who lives in Harlem and composes his own beautiful music without feeling like he has to "bow down" to the stereotypical "european" style, and yet can jam with them! I respect him! May you be filled with wisdom, peace, love and joy! I love DBR and his music!!!
he was saying in one interview 'i want to push the violin forward' and 'i decided i'm a haitian american composer' which is the exactly type of rhetoric a person who uses society's definitions (whether being for or against them) as their collage pieces for defining themselves would use. It's no surprise then that this guy's so eager to make it his identity, all the while making something that actually sounds imo like generic music you would hear at medieval times. I see no limits being pushed..
DBR is definitely doing some funky shit. I feel like the music lacks something, though, because while everyone's going "whoa, those have never been combined!" the tune itself could have been funkier.
This is so totally cool and really DBR & The Mission! Starting out so demurely with Bach and classical art flashing in the background, then here comes the wonderful entrance of Daniel's violin and everything changes... nothing like it in the world. This video is incredible! Wish I had been in Las Vegas...
Yo DBR ever consider doing anything with 2CELLOS? Listening to this I can just see and hear them rocking out with you....So beautiful.

Bach meeting HipHop is similar to Japanese citizens meeting an atomic bomb - that is to say it is an inexcusable atrocity.
