The song is about her grandmother. When her father walked out that was it. He never contacted them again. So how would she know if he is dead or alive. They have had 0 contact with that man. Why would she dedicate a song to someone who could have cared less what happened to her.

@baabaaization well it is common knowledge that Memorial Address is something to the dead. When her father walked out on them he never spoke or had any form of contact with them since. So why would she write a song to her father that is suppose to be for the dead when she doesn't even know if he is alive or not. In fact it has been said that she does not even think of him, why should she when he clearly gave no thought of her.

@SelenaMeiMei I am aware of that, however, you said Ayu had said herself it was for her father I can never remember hearing this, if she had said it in interview etc... there wouldn't be this debate. I'm just interested in that. I don't care who you think the song is written for, it's up to the individual to pick who they think this song is about. "she does not even think of him" - watch the interview she did, the Light and Darkness one, she talks about a memory of her father. :)

@baabaaization Most websites only show what Ayumi wants you to do. She never fully explains it. You have to actually dig to find the truth behind it. Took me months, I did not save the site. I should have to use a reference. So if you want to find it yourself, you are going to have to dig like so many of us have. So I ask you.. why would this song for the dead be for a man that she feels nothing towards?

her father is nothing to her as she said she cannot even rmb his face and hv no feeling to him coz he abandoned their whole family!!!

and u can find from some special tv programmes talking about how ayu miss and love her grandma as she was the one to take care ayu when ayu was small but she passed away when ayu was preparing her first single " poker face" so ayu missed the chance to meet her grandma at last.......... :(

I was crying while I sang Teddy Bear. The lyrics weren't as outright and straightforward as Memorial Address. They were innocent like a child's (it was probably meant to be) and that's why it was so sad. T~T

it was probably, most likely, about her grandmother considering she took care of Ayu through the years more than her mother because of work and being away so much. days before she went to record pokerface her grandmother went into a coma and passed away shortly after and i don't think ayu was able to be there when she passed.
