Janelle tore this performance up. My God I watched this video at least 5 times in a row because I just love how she went crazy but was still very much much aware of of the fact that she was performing. It was amazing. Even in the beginning with her just talking to the audience, her speaking voice is phenomenal. The first time I watched it when she first started to talk at the beginning, I knew that it was going to be good.

She just can't break out of the 1960s James Brown impression, too bad. It ruined this song. The best covers are when and artist can put their own flavor on something (example: Cream doing Hendrix' "Sunshine of Your Love")... but this was Janelle doing an impression of someone else doing a cover. I think she is insecure, and that is why she stays in James Brown character 24/7. She needs to find herself, because James Brown is dead, and no one will EVER be able to do James Brown.
